Balian was a revered Elvish warrior in a time long since passed he sought out enemies of the Elve's and saw to their destruction personally. Balian was betrayed by his close counsel. Lt. Licart who set up Balian as to have been the culprit for many murders of Elvish people's. Balian was then excommunicated and was giving some peasants and Ghosts to start his own colony away from the Elves. So he is here now to get back at Lt. Licart.
