Race Comparison Sheet.
22:21:43 Dec 5th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Anything you'd like to debate on for my ratings? :)

22:24:36 Dec 5th 07 - Mr. Sun:

I think every extra star or less star will ruin the colorful picture. :>

22:40:05 Dec 5th 07 - Mr. Kassius Son of Rome:

there is so much wrong with that i dont even know where to start :S, anywho i dont even know why ppl bother making those they are all purely subjective and one of the worst ways to show the races against each other

23:30:06 Dec 5th 07 - Sir Iwasfrozen V:

For fun ;-P

23:32:40 Dec 5th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Spoken like true newbs....lol.

23:33:04 Dec 5th 07 - Ms. Gene Atalia:

You couldn't get it more wrong if you tried. There is no race there that I'd agree with you on.

23:44:26 Dec 5th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Yea really, I've made way more military than any troll (not to sound bragging). And dwarf mage rocked every other choice last era. Trolls economy is in no way superior to orc with their expensive science...I could go on but it's not worth it

How about my chart Gene?

23:54:07 Dec 5th 07 - Ms. Gene Atalia:

Human:

I think human is a lot more stable than you give it credit for with the 1 * at Reliability, at least 2 maybe even 3 *. I agree with you on the point-scoring though.

Elf:

I don't think elf is that weak at mil-eco, they have very good units oop and AMs rock also, they do take a big hit because you can't get mining sci until after magic but I still think they rank 2 stars.

Agreed on the reliability and point scoring.

Dwarf:

Pretty much spot on.

Halfer:

5 * seems a bit much for mil-eco but than it's been a while since I played them, but I'd say 4 * would be better.

1 star for reliability? Are they really that unstable? Agreed on the point scoring, they rock the hoh.

Orc and Troll look right to me.

00:06:45 Dec 6th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Halfling = market dependent, needing trees. Same as Human, if there's too many Humans they aren't that competitive. It might seem like lots of Humans are doing STG this era but I suspect a lot of feeding is going on. Maybe a 2* for Human reliability as like Orc and Troll they can produce without solely needing STG/market. And they don't have to go Magic first like Elf.

Elf I stand by the 1* on mil-economic. No resource science means you are very weak...the window in which Elves can STG and Humans cannot is too small to give them 2* here.

00:14:36 Dec 6th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

5* isn't an understatement for Halfling either...I've produced more OP than any of our dwarves

Reliability also counts in early era weakness/time to get strong...for example elf is weak after about 2 days oop until very late with AMs (even then, the no mining has put them miles behind). Main factors here are market dependency and tree need

00:24:56 Dec 6th 07 - Ms. Gene Atalia:

"5* isn't an understatement for Halfling either...I've produced more OP than any of our dwarves"

It's not just about OP, it's also about the ability to pay upkeep for the huge army and I think dwarf is better suited for this task than halfer is, pretty much regardless of what strat you're running.

That's why I said 4* are better.

I'll give you the elf though, you make good arguments, but human should get 2*.

04:50:32 Dec 6th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Well I can afford the upkeep on my armies better this era than last. Just judging across the 2 (halfling vs dwarf)

Feel free to comment if you think I am mistaken. Its only an assessment.

I though it could be good to have it in nice columns so that new ppl can easily look it over to and decide which race to play according to what style of play they prefer.

Alot has changed since ..... elves used to be good and dwarfs used to be bad and so did halflings but just look at them now, on a different note i think this in terms of overall

16:13:46 Dec 6th 07 - Mr. Revenge Sweet:

i got bored sn, i did that randomly. didnt think bout it much, jus put a few improvements in and then.....replied!

16:53:28 Dec 6th 07 - Ms. Gene Atalia:

You people are hilarious, you have no idea what you're talking about but you're changing Lenard's chart which is by far the most accurate one.

17:08:39 Dec 6th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Halfling is better than Dwarf at points scoring. Usually when a good player takes Halfling they score really well. A Dwarf can only keep up if you just make Cavers and never make Hammers/Axemen, but that doesn't tend to happen :P.

22:18:13 Dec 7th 07 - Mr. Ulsfar:

Reliability

Wath means that?

00:59:46 Dec 8th 07 - Mr. Lenard:

Reliability is dependent on:

- needing to buy tree (market dependency)

- needing to sell goods (i.e. selling tree or food)

- dependencies on high science, early pressure means fragility (i.e. Elf needing high magic)

- dependencies on uniqueness of strategy (i.e. STG)

06:33:52 Dec 8th 07 - Mr. Legend:

lenard i agree with everything but ur scoring in which i think orcs, trolls and humans should recieve 2 with elves at 1.

06:40:32 Dec 8th 07 - Mr. Sigheart:

There's only 5 humans in the top 50 and  1 orc. 1 Star sounds about right.

15:49:02 Dec 8th 07 - Mr. Sun:

definitely needs a fix for tier 5 unit scoring.

considering im at #32 while i have the 2nd most OP on the server is ridiculous!

16:13:03 Dec 8th 07 - Mr. Ulsfar:

so if a race has many point at Reliability....
...does that mean it is very dependent of the market, etc or does it mean that it isn't?
And dependency is bad, not? :S

22:52:30 Dec 16th 07 - Mr. Plague:

i like elf the best cause they kick but.  I'll come top 20 with an elf this era.  dwarf is also good.

13:00:06 Jan 4th 08 - Mr. Meowman:

I'm going to post this in a uterly hoopeless atempt to stop this ever lasting, multi-opinioned and therefor useless thread. All races have advantages and disadvantages, but it is impossible to put their levels down and standardiesed (sorry for makin up words) due to the fact that everyone has a different game style. Personally, although it is good to take advice, I think that the best way to see which one to choose is to give each of them a try and see whichone works best for you in particular. This post will probably cause debate for months to come and have several ppl insult me, but i really dont care due to the fact that I will never look at this topic again, this message was simply intended to help. And no offence is intended in this message, it was a good idea, but unfortunatly it just doesn't work.

16:07:29 Jan 5th 08 - Mr. Kassius The Kookie Bandit:

dont sugar coat it meow, all the camparison sheets are bull plz for the love of god will ppl stop postin them its embarrasing

01:53:03 Jan 6th 08 - Ms. Fellatio:

Amazing ... and who might you be exactly?

15:17:55 Jan 6th 08 - Mr. Kassius The Kookie Bandit:

eh?

20:39:25 Jul 20th 08 - Mr. Samulis:

I would have to say, Meowman sounds like ZeTa... and every truly smart person playing. it fits right in with my studies in humanoligy. 'Each man was created equal... each man was created different...'

that sums it up perfectly.

for those who are just too stupid:

We are all different, good at some things, bad at others. If you add us all together you get it all at a equal level, bad equals out really good, good equals out really bad.

06:44:34 Jul 21st 08 - Lord Random:

Samulis... why are you reviving 6 month old threads...

09:12:42 Jul 21st 08 - Sir Gonzo The Great:

Because hes a newb who thinks he is someone who he isnt

18:00:14 Jul 25th 08 - Mr. Arkantos:

Why not revive this thread it will help new people choosing their race between deaths or era's.

18:16:59 Jul 25th 08 - Mr. Samulis:

he is right. and if I was a *beep*, why have I played and almost survived a whole era in fantista, I fought Sir Senator Falko twice and lived to tell the tale once. thats a feat.

06:36:40 Jul 31st 08 - Mr. Opportunity:

Newb isn't all skill necessarily. I guess its just the way you brag about everything.

20:14:46 Aug 29th 08 - Mr. Samulis:

if I bragged, what would you say about yourself, all you old grumps who lived 10 eras in fantista? who cares, its just a game. You may be better at the game than me, but newb should not be used to discribe someone who tries. Newb is a twisted, cruel version of New Player, that means much worse (too many swears that equivielent to it...). Newb is more of a philosophy. You may call everyone a newb, just because they are different. If you multiplied my braging by 2, it still wouldint equal as much as one of the old coots, and in my opinion, anyone who relies on flaming is more of a newb than everyone else put together.

23:11:10 Aug 29th 08 - Sir Charley Statler:

Opportunity is an old grump......?

*immediately and falls on floor, laughing so hard he has a seizure and bites his tongue off*

06:59:02 Aug 30th 08 - Sir Revenge:

Samulis - ' I nearly survived a whole era on Fantasia '

Here little soldier, have a medal and a chocolate bar

Don't eat it too fast now!

11:42:58 Sep 29th 08 - Mr. Homanil III:

What do you guys think about the Nazguls, is it wrong for them to be so powerful. If we take the most powerful unit after Nazguls, the Catapult (Bersekers are cheap anyway) just look at the difference -

CATAPULTS- 40 (ATTACKING POWER), 20 (DEFENSIVE POWER), COST- 5000, and
NAZGULS- 150 (ATTACKING POWER), 150 (DEFENDING POWER), COST-17000

Nazguls have great powers but it hasn't been justified in the cost at all.

by far the funniest post i've seen in awhile.

WHAT A FEAT!

Now, who is this falko character? r u referring to starfox? this is VU, a different game.

20:28:49 Sep 29th 08 - Lord Charley Deallus:

@Homanil - Eh...human units cost more...just seems to be there thing...at least they have the most powerful level 3 unit and that should never change.

21:54:16 Apr 18th 09 - Sir Haribs of Arabia:

mmm dwarfs can be uber mages, lots of gold means, lots of towers, without having to deal with high tree prizes, and runemasters look cool

23:52:28 Apr 18th 09 - Mr. Abyss:

Trying to make a comparison sheet like that is pointless :/ if you dont break it down more you cant give a decent estimate of 3-4 stars plus the way your making the comparison is all wrong it should be in a list like follows :

Race - Human
Military Strength - 3-4 star

  • Offense - 4 star
  • Defense - 2-3 star (using catapults is 2 star)
  • Unit Costs - 2 star (most expensive units for OP/DP wise)
Magic - 3-4 star
  • Magic Unit Cost - 3 star(about norm costs)
Economy - 3-4 star
  • Science Cost - 5 Star (cheapest of all races)

Race
- Next race ect......
Military Strength -
  • Offense -
  • Defense -
  • Unit Costs -
Magic -
  • Magic Unit Cost -
Economy -
  • Science Cost -
and then more ect.......

Im proberly off a bit, but this is more accurate than the past charts due to the recent Static Price costings etc

14:41:58 Apr 19th 09 - Dark Lord Osiris:

why do you think elf and human is worse for point scoring then orc ? and what do you mean by reliability?

15:05:13 Apr 19th 09 - Mr. Bran:

nice 'trolling' there rev
