o thought this was a recruitment thread...for about a 0.0000000072th of a second

20:22:30 Mar 7th 08 - Mr. Squiddy:

"i think maybe you should try figure out whats wrong with your attitute.

a man with a whole family including children hanging dead on his gun is grotesque."

No, it's not funny really, but you should kick up so much of a fuss over it.

"WOW, how are you able of saying so much bull*beep* just out of 2 sentence?"

Sorry, where in my post did I ever mention replying 'just' to your 2 sentences?
It was not aimed so much at you, but the people that take it upon themselves to make small things huge issues because they think they are righteous or think that some how they are going to change the world by crying in a forum.

If you don't like the picture, then piss off somewhere else. You don't have to sit here wondering about the inner most implications of the picture, what it means and implies then turning around and making it out as something which it clearly isn't.

Like I said, it's not just you, Overcome, that this is aimed at, it's for the people I described previously. If people don't like the picture then so what? This was 'meant' to be a recruitment thread not an anti-Jew, (not that there is any reference of Jews in any shape or form, just people with no knowledge making poorly educated assumptions), or any other kind of anti-anything thread.

If you don't like it then simply hit the back button, (usually), located in the top left of your browser and carry on. Don't take the post off-topic to complain about something that isn't harming anyone anyway.

Yes, I have strong opinions, get used to them.

The only thing it is is a political satire against an enemy, implying that said enemy is a sadistic, psychopathic murderous fiend and it is your moral and civic duty to stop him.
This was probably posted in a newspaper crying out against the German oppression and assault during WWI.

20:32:37 Mar 7th 08 - Mr. Durza The Multihaxor:

OK. Here is my strong opinion..

IT IS A PICTURE, GROW UP AND GET OVER IT.

It is indeed pure propaganda issued by pro war newspapers and governments who were trying to both enlist and dehumanise the enemy during most wars in the last 200 years. There are many examples of the same genre, usually showing the opposition as monsters killing babies and raping women etc.

The Germans too had their own versions

As did the Russians

We defeated Napoleon, now it'*beep*lers turn

The picture used is, as has been said of a WWI german soldier therefore it has nothing to do with the holocaust, racism or anything of the sort. My only criticism of the use of the picture is that it was produced to dehumanise and attack the soldier depicted and as such isn't suitable IMO for use as a banner that symbolises a kingdom.

15:49:00 Mar 8th 08 - Mr. Squiddy:

Can't see the pic mate.

I have to laugh at the UK one though,  a spider? What was the reason behind that?

I used to do a lot of picking apart of propaganda posters in high school, it found it quite interesting because every part of the picture would be done for a reason, the expressions on the faces, the way things were drawn etc.
I found that 90% of the propaganda posters were designed for the sole purpose of inciting hate towards the enemy, which is what you want when you are fighting an enemy no matter the situation, simply because it will bolster the numbers of your armies.

I don't agree with a lot of them though because they bend the truths and spread lies to achieve a result.

16:37:18 Mar 8th 08 - Mr. Deadordying:

French term Entente cordiale (usually translated as "cordial understanding")

Russo-Japanese War was about to erupt, France and Britain found themselves on the point of being dragged into the conflict on the side of their respective allies. France was firmly allied with Russia, while Britain was allied with Russia's foe Japan. In order to avoid going to war, both powers "shucked off their ancient rivalry"[1] and resolved differences between the two countries in Africa, America, Asia and the Pacific. An agreement on colonial matters was negotiated between French foreign minister Théophile Delcassé, and Lord Lansdowne, the British Foreign Secretary. The resultant convention was signed by Lord Lansdowne and Paul Cambon, the French Ambassador, on 8 April 1904. The agreement did little to advance British interests, but it linked the country to the intricate web of Continental rivalries which it had managed to stay clear of hitherto.

Convinced that they had British support, the French became ever more belligerent in their attitude towards the Germans, fully demonstrated in the Moroccan crises of 1905 and 1911. Concerned by possible encirclement, the Germans grew ever more alienated. An arrangement that had been intended to improve Britain's standing in the world merely added to the tensions within Europe, and became just another milestone on the road to the Great War.

Essentially it was a European NAP/MAP with Germany excluded as they were seen as a threat to stability

I think this goes down as one of the stupidest posts in this thread... I think that everyone already had an opinion before reading this thread, and I don't think anything written here, will change anyone's mind/morals/opinions of anything related to the picture.

Once again there is a person without knowledge of our minds.

If you bring something like this to the attention of a 12 year old, he will most likely have a reaction that will have an effect on his thinking on this issue.
Not everyone have an opinion on whats right. And like Squiddy and i, we desagree. We are bringing out importent arguments that might change the way people think or the opinion in this case.

Things like this happends all the time, and either way it is stuck in there "hidden thoughts" (cant write the correct word in english) that is allways there to decide a future call.

Who are you to know how a 12 year old thinks? Have you asked a 12 year old what he or she thinks of the picture? You are pretty ignorant to assume that you know how all 12 year olds think, because I can assure you, that even though kids are impressionable, they are not stupid. 12 year olds see this crap everywhere on the internet, and this picture is not shocking or gross or offensive, especially compared to a lot of the other graphic images on the internet.

Also, by law, an 8 year old should be able to tell right from wrong. Assuming that a 12 year old can't tell right from wrong is just plain stupid...

23:24:08 Mar 11th 08 - Ms. Geneva:

That's the problem Jones. Things like these are too normal to them, the thing im afraid of is when things like these becomes apealing to the young ones.

i have study psychologi and offcours no one knows the excact thoughs of a 12 year old kid. but its not just about the 12 year old, all people are effected by the things they observe. and humans do usually allways take sides. in this case there were basicly 2 sides: the ones that though it was okei, and the ones that though it was not okei. all people are effected, and those who are most exposed are the young ones. cause they will have a harder time notesing the consequenses of a action. it is just like games like Halo and other games like that effect the aggression lvl of a person. its hard to explane how it works but by researce you can see the aggression increase.

a l2 year old boy with ADHD that plays alot of violent games and sees images like this is not a good combination. most people are able to reflect up on this things in a good way and understand its wrong. but there are still alot of people that can't see the consequences and can't controll there impulses. they will have a hard time to adjust.

this is such a big matter, and i am having a real hard time explaning it. i could go on forever:P but there is sooo many bad things with just accepting things like this. why do you think we have a max age on some movies?

why can't we allowe a 10 year old boy to watch Saw 3? think a little about it

"That's the problem Jones. Things like these are too normal to them, the thing im afraid of is when things like these becomes apealing to the young ones."

this is one of the vital points i am trying to pass forward!
