Fantasia Age 5
04:24:17 Jan 1st 11 - Mr. Barny:

Oops, edit time ran out. Obviously Hex has less players than the enemies that they are fighting, but it is balanced out by the fact that they have been able to allow 3 players who spawned far away to farm through OOP. Whether or not they win or lose will come down to how these players time their attacks, if at all. If Hanky/Fordius/Zondervan play well and get enough feeders positioned in time, than they will be able to make a huge impact on the war and could easily win it for their kingdom. If they play foolishly and do nothing at all, than Hex will surely lose.

Hex has also been taking in players who abandoned their former kingdoms throughout the era. I'm not saying that to be insulting, but it's worth noting. They might even out on numbers if this drags on long enough.

04:34:58 Jan 1st 11 - General Who:

As you can see, and you can get our kds members (should be able with a brain).

Mr. Sleeping Rabbit - Dark Side/MAD
Mr. Fredo - Dark Side
Mr. Lowgray - Dark Side
Ms. Troublemaker - Dark Side
The Shh Iit - One tiny army againt MAD
Mr. Hanky Spanky - MAD
Mr. Aeas of Arunun - Neither atm.
Mr. Brick - Dark Side
Mr. Aussie - Dark Side
Mr. Hanky Panky - Tiny army against MAD
Mr. Timmiev IX - Neither atm.
Mr. Fordius Revived - Neither atm.

Thats 3 that havent engaged yet..and 3 that have just started by being attacked by MAD.

That is half our kd. Sorry to correct you barny :p

As you have los, you ca easily check the names of the cities by you, that says who is there fighting. Look at kd members, and you can see who is not there to fight. I just made it easy and went ahead and looked and told you.

05:40:08 Jan 1st 11 - Mr. Barny:

Short Version: I am not trying to be hostile, but I have to correct you- pretty much all of Hex has either been farming in preparation to fight Dark Side or fighting Dark Side since OOP.

Long Version:

I recognize and acknowledge the fact that you have less players than MAD or Dark Side, but saying "MAD + Dark Side vs Hex" is a horrible oversimplification. It is basically a purposeful misrepresentation of facts, and people have done it FOREVER in VU.

It has always been extremely rare to find 2 kingdoms that are ONLY fighting one another. Making a statement like "MAD + Dark Side vs Hex" basically words the situation to suggestion that MAD and Dark Side are fighting Hex, while Hex is fighting both MAD and Dark Side. In reality, MAD and Dark Side are both fighting other enemies as well, which helps to balance the fight. Overall, EVERYONE in Hex either spawned far away and is farming, or spawned by Dark Side and has been fighting them since OOP. Any battles against MAD have been small token battles at best.

I won't list what members of my kingdom are doing, because doing so doesn't help my kingdom to be more successful, it does just the opposite. I will look at your list, and make some edits:

Mr. Sleeping Rabbit - Dark Side/MAD -Lets be honest, the extent of your confrontations with MAD have been a few small fights here and there, like in your western core where 1 guy hit a soft spot. I doubt someone could do magic AND outpump multiple dedicated MAD players.

Mr. Fredo - Dark Side -Focused 100% on Dark Side, but he has made foolish plays to benifit himself at the cost of his kingdom.

Mr. Lowgray - Dark Side -Former KH member, focused 100% on Dark Side.

Ms. Troublemaker - Dark Side -Focused 100% on Dark Side, but this player has not commited too much to the fight as of yet.

The Shh Iit - One tiny army against MAD -I haven't seen much from this player, this player has been farming through OOP. I don't mean that as an insult- it's a valid tactic and he did a pretty damn good job farming effectively. It is too early to say where this player has committed to fight, but I will assume it will be Dark Side due to urgency. His land count stopped rising recently and I don't see him with cities/armies near Dark Side, it is highly likely that he has committed to fight elsewhere.

Mr. Hanky Spanky - MAD -I have yet to see anything from this player. Due to the fact that he has 0 city captures and 0 battle wins, I assume he has also been farming. Again, I suspect he will commit to a fight against Dark Side as opposed to MAD.

Mr. Aeas of Arunun - Neither atm. -Same as above

Mr. Brick - Dark Side -100% focused on Dark Side, this player has played his hand quite well and committed a lot to a fight against Dark Side.

Mr. Aussie - Dark Side -100% focused on Dark Side, played his hand reasonably well and committed quite a lot.

Mr. Hanky Panky - Tiny army against MAD - 2 battle wins and 2 city captures, and a massive amount of land. It goes without saying that he has also been farming and not REALLY fighting MAD. He has settled cities by the Hex players who are near Dark Side, so it goes without saying that he has been farming and intends to pump a lot of troops very soon.

Mr. Timmiev IX - Neither atm. - Started out in KH and kd-hopped to Hex. He fought Dark Side 100% in the north, and lost. He is now dead.

Mr. Fordius Revived - Neither atm. - Farming/STGing. He has yet to commit to any front, like most of Hex's farmers. When and if he does will make a big impact.

I can look at Hex's roster of players and quantifiably say that every single one of it's 12 members has either been fighting Dark Side since OOP, or farming in preparation to fight Dark Side. Any fights against MAD have been small skirmishes as opposed to a fully committed, all out war.

Whether or not Hex's farmers start to appear with large armies in the near future will determine whether or not they win or lose.

16:58:35 Jan 1st 11 - Mr. Aloysius:

General... I can also say...

Hex + Relentless + NomNom vs MAD. :))

17:10:19 Jan 1st 11 - General Who:

The Shh Iit - You didnt post my victories and battles wins >.>

And you dont have to name, we can see who is fighting where as you can see which of us fighting.

@Aloy: you started the war!!! :p

18:41:55 Jan 1st 11 - Mr. Fordius Revived:

Lol so to be honest Barny.

The view you got and the summary you gave us.
Means that 50% of our kd ( that excist already of 50% of ur total kd members )

means 6 guys from our kd that is pretty much fighting ur kd and lil bit of mad. Is enough to hold you + lil of mad down ?
The other part of Hex used the tactic to whore/farm whateva you say once again that's a solid tactic to use :)

See them as reinforcement.
But what I was wondering now is are you scared of 6 members fighting effectively or something cause I don't know why you had to make such a summary?

---
Ofc Dark Side currently only fighting HEX 1 vs 1.
or Dark Side can show me who they are warring else besides us as they are in the southern corner.

Hex also fights with MAD but not on a large scale at the moment just a lil bit of feeling eachother out.

What the rest do I can't judge I'm to inactive for that :P

19:59:29 Jan 3rd 11 - Mr. Soda Popinski:

14:49:12 Jan 4th 11 - Mr. Knigh:

15:11:44 Jan 4th 11 - Mr. Fordius Revived:

Yes those are uber skills.

MAD and Dark Side is so amazing.
I really hope I will get an signature of them when I send my scouts there. I would hang it above my bed and stare at it the rest of my life.
Hoping more people like MAD/Dark Side will arise.

*Shrug*

15:14:58 Jan 4th 11 - Dark Prince Stirlin:

20:03:04 Jan 4th 11 - Mr. Teirdel:

im looking forward to this late era :).

12:41:24 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Hanky Spanky:

Dark side scared of Aby/Hex?

Already casting arma when the era is just 2 weeks old... Come on you don't even want a fight this era?

Go Ford you can do it... Or Wilber you may also win :P Everything besides Dark :P
Show Dark Side that fast arma that it doesn't give them the era win.

12:46:16 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Fordius:

I don't care about the win.
I thought it was a war game but Obviously people rather do something else in the time they play.
It takes forever to even get at a destination with this map.

I know the arma town is just 1 building ( so prolly they wanna be in control off the spell so they can decide when they really want to end it )

But I'm sick of vu already to have this casted within even the first week of fantasia ( figure of speech ) to have passed by.
When the era is over I will be gone again.

Cheers

13:02:20 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Stumpy:

It does seem to make it very pointless, Fant will have no one left to play on it, if this Arma finishes it i certainly wont be playing this Map again as it just makes a joke of the whole game :(

Oops wrong character - Von Darkmoor

13:51:56 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Smexy Mongrel:

Hmm, if everyone leaves Fanta, I will go there. Farm all era and still win.

*evil grin

15:03:20 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Magic Warrior:

Hmmm.

Bug-abuse (exp. feeding, Mantrax), gaming-obstruction (casting Arma after only 17 days, here Fantasia), no active admin and no development (all worlds)......

I must say I understand Fordius. Maybe it is time to saddle the horse and leave - to see what's hiding behind the horizon.

15:09:58 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Barny:

I would argue that it makes perfect sense to cast Armageddon as soon as you possibly can, even if you don't intend to end the era. Last era it Abydos cast Armageddon when they had finished with all of their own wars, but for all other kingdoms it was a premature ended to the era.

The game's current state and game mechanics are still pretty new. I doubt the game will be change too much these days, so over time I am sure that kingdoms will recognize that being the kingdom to cast the spell and thus taking Armageddon control is a resource in and of itself.

Due to the sheer size of Fantasia Armageddon is extremely difficult to stop and there has yet to be an era that didn't get ended prematurely by an Armageddon. If anything, this is the most important world to control the spell on.

Note that this post is not pertaining to the current Armageddon (I wouldn't say anything that compromised my kingdom), but it is simply my opinion on the matter.

15:31:09 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Magic Warrior:

Now if - IF because I do not know - it is possible for another kingdom to cast Armageddon now and kind of "steal" the ownership of Armageddon, then I would tend to give you right. It's a "ressource" you can use or let go.

But if it is, so the only way to stop Armageddon either is to conquer the city on which the spell is casted or that the owner destroys the city, then it's kind of obstruction to cast the spell this early in the game.

I - being in a kingdom already warring another and therefore not (probably not) going to war against your kingdom too - feels right now: Well 10 days left. How much time should I use here now? Is it worth playing on? My "inner feelings" tells me: Scr.w it!

16:23:15 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Santas Large Sack:

you know, initially i was pissed, but now i just shake my head. tbh its not surprising, vu is well past its prime. I keep trying to find reasons to play this game but crap like this is just another nail in the coffin of my vu hobby. casting arma after that kingdom has fought its wars is one thing, casting arma after a period of several weeks when battles are far from being decisive is ridiculous.

I am with darkmoor on this one. Used to be Fant mattered in the game, it was the ultimate goal, now its just an afterthought.

I will admit that my knowledge of the specific Armageddon mechanics are horribly outdated, I haven't tested this in a very long time because it is one of those things that is not only difficult to test due to the need for magic 9 and a costly spell, but also because it requires 2 people to get magic 9 to test it. I know little recent/new information beyond the spell's new Difficults/Loss modifiers.

The last time I tested this was months (maybe years?) ago, but back when I did test it the Armageddon spell had no affect when it was already active on a different city.

17:34:47 Jan 11th 11 - General Who:

I would like to point out something.

As we all know, the game is dieing correct?
People post sug to try to revive the game correct?
These same people want Fant to be important again correct?
These same people play in Dark Side (a good bit anyways) correct?

IF you truely want Fant back to the way it is was, then honestly. Why end a world so early on?

Whether you intend to let it go or use the old "destroy the city once everyone spams troops at the past minute" method. You still casted it. And I must say, EVERYONE KEEP WATCH ON SCORES. IF the end gets close and the usual farmers dont spam, then you know something is up.

But seriously...complain the game is dead and needs fixing...yet you do something that would basically take all the life out of it that it has left, for what? The gain of your kd? Never thought id see something so low.. But guess everyone changes.

18:56:53 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Warsonworf:

I'm rather new to VU. I don't play to win, just to have fun in a KD and be able to support a KD. I don't care about old relations or whatever, I just support the KD I end up with; mostly this has been Nom Nom Nominion and RoC, who'm both have been superb people in educating, being active and a general great bunch of people to play with.

Was it not for those I'd have played one era and laughed at how VU is just one or another browserbased game with no Dev care, bad graphics and worst: actually some pretty horrible gameplay. Basics which you find in every game and nothing innovative. Not to mention the various game abuses and glitches, or the plain boring maps. So much more can be done, but nothing is being done.

And aside playing a fun wargame, we're playing "cast the all era winning spell for fame". I'll follow my two KDs loyally, until even they break and leave VU. Then I'm gone too and then I will thank them for the great time, and never see them again.

22:41:54 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Knigh:

totaly agree, wat a waste of 3 weeks for it to be ended by some guy so far away that even if i straight walked through every blocker untill i got to him, i'd still struggle to get there in time, u guys really ruin the game to extreme levels, i dont care if ur inactive and thats why u do it, u ruin it and for that reason im outta fant also, shame its been a gd long time here.

Knigh signing out

22:55:32 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Barny:

I agree with most of the sentiments posted in this thread. That said, there is a solution:

Why doesn't the leadership of ALL of the top kingdoms agree not to cast Armageddon until the era on Fantasia is at least 40 days in? We all know that the mechanics behind the spell make it near impossible to stop, and it isn't very well balanced and drastically affects the game.

For refrence, the era is about 17 days in at the moment.

If MAD, Hex, Dark Side, Relentless, Nomination, and Abydos agreed on this it would really improve gameplay.

I am just speaking theoretically here, but we might be able to even reach an agreement for putting this in during this era as well.

What do you guys think about this idea?

23:10:54 Jan 11th 11 - Mr. Barny:

By the way, I was talking to Fordius and he came up with the idea.

I figure that he would probably want credit.

23:34:54 Jan 11th 11 - Judge Kobuskan:

Just make the map smaller, more fighting, less farming (and cheating)

00:13:58 Jan 12th 11 - Dark Prince Stirlin:

dump everyone on fant like the older days

00:31:39 Jan 12th 11 - General Who:

Just don cast it and we wont have a problem. We all were already fighting

01:03:50 Jan 12th 11 - Mr. Rockstar:

Unaware that the best way to get something fixed is to abuse the hell out of it.

02:58:17 Jan 12th 11 - Sir Jondrus Swiper:

I would imagine less complaining if this were the old arma spell.

03:43:01 Jan 12th 11 - Ms. Tress Mayhem:

Apparently the old spell drew just as much complaint which was why is was nuked.

17 days and it's cast -- I just got OOP, no mayhem for moi :(

True, but that doesn't really address the underlying issue. If we didn't cast it, Abydos might have if/when they start to lose. The same can be said for anyone, the only option anyone has now to stop that it so control the spell.

But I completely agree with you, if no one casted it early than there wouldn't be an issue. The trouble is getting no one to cast it, which is why I would prefer that all the major kingdoms agree not to do so before a certain point.

09:50:09 Jan 12th 11 - Ms. Tress Mayhem:

so you're saying you cast it to control it , not just the spell this era (obviously you could cancel and recast at will) but the issue of casting it itself :|  a forcing function? :|

10:37:55 Jan 12th 11 - Mr. Magic Warrior:

Problem is, that if a mage have magic level 9 the spells is so damn cheap to cast that it cries to Heaven.

Cast it on a one-building city, use only enough mages to give the spell a 21-25% chance for success, then a failed spell doesn't cost much more than 15-20K mages. Any decent kingdommage can cast that spell 5-10-15-20 times without running dry of mages if he/she uses "buffer-armies" for the surplus of mages - and believe me, one of the attempts will succed.

11:08:01 Jan 14th 11 - Fire Lord Crazy II:

 Arm......     1 Word .     BULLSHlTt

11:56:44 Jan 14th 11 - Mr. Magic Warrior:

Agree.

Normally I would keep that kind of information for myself, but since some old Vets seems it is "OK" to mis-use the spell, I want as many as possible to know this easy way to cast it.

No need to try with a high % for success (and very heavy losses) when you can do it with a much lower % - and get it done both cheaper and faster.

12:58:32 Jan 14th 11 - Ms. Tress Mayhem:

Most mages already know that info (the principle relates to other spells as well) so you're really only informing the ones who couldn't figure it out.

I think it's more interesting that Dark Side casts the spell and then wants a moratorium on it lolol

17:08:13 Jan 14th 11 - Ms. Barbie Pants:

its a good way to force people to listen

17:37:37 Jan 14th 11 - Sir Mcmax The Magic Warrior:

-->TM.

Proff mages probably knows.

But I want as many players as possible to know - to tell them how the future might be. 4 weeks of playing for nothing (2 weeks for a mage to get magic level 9 - and 2 weeks for the spell to destroy all - gameobstrucktion as I call it).

18:22:16 Jan 14th 11 - Mr. Demandred:

you are all very poor quality players

22:14:42 Jan 14th 11 - Mr. Barny:

Most VU players are.

Well no one from any kingdom seems interested in agreeing to any type of Armageddon terms, so I suppose that it is a game of "who casts it first" from now on.

Also, it seems the standards for the fearsome HoH are pathetically low. Is anyone really fighting this era?
