As it stands now, small kingdoms are almost non-existent since it's too expensive for a couple of players to build all of the necessary blocker cities to have a closed core.

then you have Fights were there are Stalemates

Havoc Zeon war

Havoc couldnt Break Zeons Wall and Zeon Could Break Havocs Wall

no... i have my magic town a bit away from the block (wall), if the guy try's to near i still RoF him... few nazi's left.. i kill them of the old fashion way.

they should make it to where every ten VU days, or so, requires a large amount of gold and stone upkeep, depending on the size of the wall... look at the great wall of china, my grandma could knock the dang thing over with a pair of spectacles... the walls on VU are way to durable. I still want the walls back, but not so much as to make them be used like they had been used... or you could make the armies to where it takes a series of 20 or so days before they could siege the wall itself, depending on the attack power of the army. if the gate city falls, then the wall does too, because there would be no men patrolling the great wall. Maybe we could make it to where the great walls, that are already dead(without a gate or garrison).. not so dead. The walls could decay, and once that starts to happen, it will only be like crossing a river in real life... it takes a lot of days to cross a wall with a large number of men. But a few days to cross it with a few. and after a time, the walls will completely disappear. so this makes the walls not so invincible, allowing the VU people to bring them back. They could affect the price of the walls, the more they have, as with buildings. So then, the farmers would have to put aside more money, as time progresses. It can be used both ways, as a con or pro.

Way back ZeTa brought walls into the game.

But then, they were so overpowered he inverted merges.

But now he has removed walls, and left merges.

Merges remove the ability of individual skill. It doesnt matter if you have the top 2 HOH armies, all an enemy needs is to pile 30+ crappy armies together to beat you or hold you off a city.

I wasnt here at the time of no walls + no merges, but apparently they were the good old days. So logic suggests that you do that.

Can one of the old farts say whether it was actually good way back then without walls and merges?

One problem i would see is, unbreakable cities. Where the KD just fills a city with armies and you cant take it on your own. Now this would be bad if you could block off an area entirely. But this map has a big wide open part where you cant do that.

So i think that would be great. If you have the strongest armies on the map, then nobody can stop you. All they can do is save some cities, but theres no way they could protect every city in their core from you.

 

Also, remove Bonus Turns....or at the very least, stop people buying them.

Ummm i was thinking add a new attack type for walls thats easier than siege(wall bonus only works up too lets say 25% maybe 50% that it'll add to the calculations for their defense when your prepping) and if it works it cuts off all reinforcements to the city from enemy. Like siege but instead no enemy troops can enter city thus they cant stalemate you as much hopefully.

did no one even look at my reply? if any part of the wall was breached, the gate would be destroyed too. allowing the army that attacked the wall to cross over it. if they decided to take over the wall, they could. but if the wall, just so happened to be destroyed, the only way to bring back a wall is to wait until the old on decayed. so that also makes farmers easier to kill. keep the merges, but if you cannot bring back the walls, i say get ride of the merges...

FTW: merges give smaller kds a chance rather than the other way around. You would notice that the best performing kds are the ones that deserve to be best performing. Merges suit the dynamic of the game, they are a pretty nifty addition to the game that most people appreciate.
However all great walls do is encourage mediocrity and whoring, as well as prolong the inevitable.

This is not the case when you are facing kingdoms that out number you massively, Merges with out walls tip the scales so dramatically there is no chance of a smaller kingdom gaining any advantage.   For example Fighting PKS and Carnage both at the same time we are facing 60+ players their merges however many ppl they choose to use in them will far exceed anything we can put together... they simply hold up in a town that with walls, gts, massive mu's becomes just as unbreakable as a wall and eventuallyl with the numbers they will out pump a normal kingdom with their massively inflated size of a kingom... So going offensivie is near impossible in that situation.

The ability for them to just add to the merge until they simply out pump the smaller kingdom and the game becomes whoever has the biggest merge wins.  Obviously a kingdom with over 30 members who has whored and fed of *beep* kds an entire era is at a greater advantage than a smaller kingdom who has warred all era.  Merges simply dont fit in a game without defense, which is what is the situation now.   Even mages which were a staple in defense were nerfed so bad that merges are impossible to slow with adequate mage power... so a smaller kd with smaller mage power and smaller incomes do not stand a chance against whored up merges and no walls for defense.

Merges are over power now without walls period.

well , i think that it would be best that there is limit to the mergers . like the max amount of armies should be 3 or 4 in the merge, this will prevent the sitution u guys are talking about and meanwhile it will make sure that this aspect of the game wouldnt be cancelled .

as some players think that this is one of the best options in the game  and i am one from them ...

Did you think before you said that? A KD of 30+ players vs a KD of 15.

Who is gonna have a bigger merge? Like i said in the previous post. If a good player makes big HOH armies, all the big KD has to do is pump lots of small crappy armies together.

My 100k zerks army was in a DB merge, yet carnage were able to kill our merge because they made one merge with tonnes of small armies.

It's an ugly circle of events tbh i dont know what the resolution is because once you limit merges you then have to limit allied upkeep otherwise you have towns that can never be taken without a merge.  Like i said, I dont know what the answer is, but i think it lies more in changing walls rather than removing them.  Removing them causes way more issues, than i'm sure we have even thought thru yet.
