Bill Gates retiring
03:22:37 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Ironic:

Yeah the founder of Microsoft is finally retiring and while we all knew it was eventually going to happen ever since he stepped down from being the CEO of Miscrosoft and became Chairman. With his leave I think Microsoft will plummet because Bill Gates is Microsoft.

What I was wondering was what exactly he's going to do now with all his new free time. I mean he's (as far as I know) the richest retiree ever. My money is on him running as independant in the 2008 Presidential Election, heck I'd vote for him.

And for those jerks that are going to make fun of him shut up I know its trendy to insult him but he's a good guy and he's donating all his money to Charity.

03:37:26 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Justin:

and so does michael Jackson but people disrespect him eventhough he has done more for charity then anyone will ever do.

03:40:23 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Ironic:

I must have missed the part where Bill Gates was black, had sex with underage kids, and almost killed his baby . Also Michael Jackson never donated around 50 billion dollars to charity.

03:43:54 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Justin:

lol plz tell me ur not that nieve to actually believe the press. Michael Jackson doesnt have sex with underage kids and because he showed his baby to the world by holding him in the air doesnt mean his was going to kill him.

04:24:11 Jun 27th 08 - Prince Bertilius Septim II:

Bill Gates stole my pie! The bastard!!!

05:42:38 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Aligreat:

lol am i the only one to catch the whiff of racism in Ironic's post?

I must have missed the part where Bill Gates was black, had sex with underage kids, and almost killed his baby

Since when was being black as bad as having sex with underage kids and killing babies lmao.

06:05:47 Jun 27th 08 - Sir Ernie The Orange:

-.- I have to agree....im not friend of racism even if it never is directed at me.....

08:48:57 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Jones:

I found this article posted at the link below... the article is shown below the link

http://www.rlslog.net/bill-gates-to-retire-from-microsoft-on-friday/

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates was set Friday for his last day of full-time work at Microsoft - the company he founded 33 years ago on a hunch that personal computers would become an integral part of everyday life. The world’s largest software company said that it was not planning any public events to observe the transition, though the change would be marked by internal events. Gates, 52, will continue to hold the title of non-executive chairman and work about one day a week at Microsoft. He intends to devote the rest of his time to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the wealthiest charity in the world, which is aimed at improving healthcare around the world and reducing extreme poverty. Founded with the vast fortune he made as Microsoft prospered, the foundation has an endowment of some 38.7 billion dollars with billions more expected to roll in as Gates transfers his massive personal wealth. Legendary investor Warren Buffet, currently the world’s richest man, has also pledged to transfer the vast majority of his wealth to the foundation.

Gates handed over his role as Microsoft chief executive to his long-time partner Steve Ballmer in 2000, when Gates became the company’s chief software architect. Under a carefully planned succession programme, Gate’s duties will be taken over by two top Microsoft executives. Ray Ozzie will be in charge of day-to-day management issues, while Craig Mundie will be in charge of long-term planning. The company, whose Windows operating system powers some 90 per cent of the world’s personal computers, has a market capitalization of about 260 billion dollars and employs more than 78,000 people in 103 countries. But even as its cash cow products of Windows and the Office productivity suite look set to continue their stellar earnings, Microsoft faces tough competition as Google’s online dominance threatens to cut into Microsoft’s core businesses.

09:25:45 Jun 27th 08 - Duke Elmo The Opmonkey:

Yeah Google is getting pretty big.

Good luck bill gates.

10:33:44 Jun 27th 08 - Sir Revengee:

Didnt Microsoft try and buy Yahoo too like rival Google in its own field..
For something like $44 Billion dollars...

I might be wrong...

11:02:42 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Elsin:

"Also Michael Jackson never donated around 50 billion dollars to charity."

How much of a sacrifice that is depends on how much wealth he actually has. What's 50 billion if he has even 1 billion stashed away somewhere? Yeh it's an impressive amount, but if he's already set for life why not give it away?

19:35:57 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Roxbury:

As long as my Windows dont crash, I dont give a *beep* if Bill Gates marries a stripper or gives all his money away to that money sink called Africa.

21:01:08 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Elsin:

But windows crashes often. So what now? :o

21:41:37 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. Mushasji:

ubuntu!

22:18:46 Jun 27th 08 - Mr. More Inactive Than You:

Ubuntu? Is that an African country? :))

01:22:00 Jun 28th 08 - Mr. Eddie Van Halen:

I just keep my Windows Task Manager open all the time...

01:39:36 Jun 28th 08 - Prince Bertilius Septim II:

My computer never cr-oh look it did it again...

01:43:48 Jun 28th 08 - Mr. Jones:

Ubuntu... sounds like a Zulu city from one of the Civilization games.

01:45:41 Jun 28th 08 - Prince Bertilius Septim II:

It's an operating system...

09:38:18 Jun 28th 08 - Mr. Twamao:

Bill Gates already announced his retirement some time ago.  maybe 1 year ago or a few months ago.  But its old news.  He said he will concentrate on philantrophic activities.  He has a foundation (William and Sharon Gates Foundation, not sure on the name).  It was reported that Warren Buffet, the second richest man known in the universe will donate billions on that foundation.  I think Buffet has not heirs or something like that.

Microsoft wanted to get Yahoo.  It was called a possible hostile takeover by CNN.  Yahoo made a deal with Google that allows google to advertise on Yahoo.  Microsoft didnt like that so they let go of Yahoo.  It was a clever move on the part of Yahoo avoiding the takeover by giving the competition an edge over them.  i think Google got the better of that deal.

10:41:09 Jun 28th 08 - Mr. More Inactive Than You:

Twamao... We've already read the first paragraph...

00:21:44 Jun 29th 08 - Mr. Newcastle United:

If Bill Gates is MS and MS is the company that forces the world to upgrade to a new, more pointless feature packed, resource hungry, pointless OS every few years, the same MS that has one of the worlds worse environmental policies, then to the OP I say yes, I hate Bill Gates and I will make fun of him for as long as I live.

Wow, he has a charity. What multi billionaire doesn't have a charity? It's well known that if you are rich, you need to be part of a charity to make up for the bad things you do in the business world, well 9 times out of 10 at least, maybe there is a genuinely nice ultra rich person somewhere...

02:48:46 Jun 29th 08 - Mr. Ironic:

lol am i the only one to catch the whiff of racism in Ironic's post?

Michael Jackson turned from black to white, that vaguely freaks me out. And everyone is a little racist.

18:10:19 Jun 30th 08 - Prince Melow:

lol am i the only one to catch the whiff of racism in roxbury's post?

gives all his money away to that money sink called Africa.

Since when was africa a money sink

ah wait .... nvm

06:23:11 Jul 1st 08 - Mr. Twamao:

what's a money sink?

09:06:03 Jul 1st 08 - Prince Melow:

practically the same as a succubus

08:37:11 Jul 4th 08 - Mr. Juggalo:

gives all his money away to that money sink called Africa.

LOL africa is rich with diamonds and others including gold but europeans exploited the african people into chaos so that now white mostly Europeans get all the profits from the africans sweat... Even tho there is the Rebels in Africa that exploit their own people for their own gain... they probably wouldnt be in that situation if they werent exploited to begin with.

Also its about time Bill Gate retires after all didnt he do some pretty shady stuff to get microsoft to where it is? Wasnt their a trial? isnt that why he stepped down from ceo. All and all its good that hes giving his money away for the good.

08:48:59 Jul 4th 08 - Mr. Spoon:

Yeah, Africa, funny no? We sure did a great job there fellow Europeans.

14:28:38 Jul 4th 08 - Mr. Mushasji:

atleast the original population in africa is still alive ...  poor indians ...

00:22:42 Jul 5th 08 - Mr. Spoon:

It's not really something I classify as 'alive' the state they're living in.

02:54:36 Jul 5th 08 - Mr. Skullz:

What's that mean mushasji? Technically it was the europeons who killed the indians. Anyways the indian population is still alive just not what it once was because of disease, and fighting.

05:29:05 Jul 5th 08 - Mr. Ironic:

At least they have perks to our ocupation. They get free college in a lot of places we've give them lots of land and reservations. What have the europeans given?

10:30:36 Jul 5th 08 - Mr. Mushasji:

it means what i said ... :-)

'the indian population is still alive' ... yeah right, very much alive ... :-/

take a million ... give back a tinytiny fraction ... see, we are so good people. ;-)    i'm sure we can be 'redeemed' now

('europeans' and 'americans' have nothing to do with it, it's our ancesters ... and the people today)(we where thieves in the past, and we still are now, it's not because you/we choose to forget the painfull bussiness that we don't have a 'historic' responsibility)

03:53:55 Jul 8th 08 - Mr. Naerey:

My favorite monopolist of all time!

18:56:39 Jul 8th 08 - Mr. Dreadlord:
