What happened to going to work to come home to find yourself going back a page to catch up? Is this game really that bad now? There used to be so many flame wars on here, was one of my favourite things to do.

Zeta has seriously let this game go down the gutter, even more so than he used to.

thing is. with this so called sense of humor. you lose newbs as they get mad about the trolling people do to them. so its either make the vets happy.. or they can stay pissed and we try to worry about new people coming in.

its a lose lose situation. some people cant grow up.. some people cant accept jokes. etc. etc

but the game has been heavily modded, and what we have right now is the result of that. how can you argue your point when the forum is quite clearly dull right now.
from what i can tell, long term players dont stay for the game, they return every year for the people and the banter. but has been stiffled by the mods.

since when does anyone ever want to join a game when noone else is playing? they make their first account and they see an empty forum

I agree and disagree Forums can be used to encourage combat and for fun
The Game Itself needs some serious changes and who range of New advertising.

Bran,

Forums can also make people leave depends on what type of slating is being done.
I think game structure should be changed ...
Get rid of the 3 character system Just use 3 worlds instead of 9-12 what ever the amount is.
Make the game a challenge and expand from that.

There just my taughts and with forums I feel there is nothing wrong with a bit of friendly banter to spice up the game.

RAAAAWR I'm a rabid mod and I thirst for the flesh of flamers and trolls!

tbh I only mess with trolls and flamers because they turn around and scream mod abuse. I get off to that kind of stuff. ;) hypocrites and all that. As for banning, I only do that when it is crossing the line, then I warn, and then I would ban. The only people I have banned are the people who don't reply to my warnings very nicely. Telling me to "feck off" would only make me laugh.

In short, tl;dr I don't do anything. Blame Zondy ;) Oh and multi characters. 99% of people on VU are one person. Yes, I am all of you...except Rev.

Yeah I got banned for arguing with a racist. Despite said racist being banned first by Zond, then it got overturned and he got unbanned and I got banned in his place.

I think that "racist" was me trying to explain why you shouldn´t use the word gay for the same reason you shouldn´t use the word nigger.

Also just wanna point out you started all raging when even hearing a whisper of the N word without it being directed at anyone but you were totally fine with the word gay being used to describe homosexualls, wich is also heavily loaded with negative meanings. Hypocrite anyone?

I would agree that there are too many worlds in the game with barely enough players to fill half the map in half of them, it leads to a lack of need for team play which used to give rise to such organization, competitiveness and camraderie, with empty maps and next to no challenges, there's none of that.

forum mods definitely have an effect. I'm all for moderation and keeping things clean but i was recently warned for mentioning boats in a post that was generally on topic:P

another problem is the multi system. Back when you had one character you cared much more about what happened and surviving and war tactics. Those were the good old days when i would wake up in the morning to over 200 new posts in politics forum and over 60 in my kingdom alone. Now its like "oh darn just got killed off, oh well i have 2 other characters to mess around with"

There are increasing levels of no-no's and being racist is WAY above saying someone is gay. Which, FYI doesn't necessarily have a derogatory meaning. Calling someone a nigger is. Every time. Every, single, time. So if your next post isn't: "sorry I'm only 13 I don't understand the world. I sincerely apologise for being so stupid and racist."
