How to prevent revolt
05:34:47 Sep 22nd 16 - Sir Prob Lematic:

A city keeps revolting on me, and I have no way to stop it from revolting. I have seen on forums people say plunder, the peasants go that way, I tried that 3 times, it keeps revolting, look at this:

  • We have plundered Milk City of all their resources. They had 50330 gold, 24079 stone, 12214 tree, 13288 food and 0 slaves in the city. We also took 11 of their peasants for slaves!
  • We killed or injured total of 0 troops.
  • chance=100
  • dice=5.97001

So in a town that has 71k peasants I took 11 as peasants, so once I take it it will be 2% morale city with 71k peasants that will instantly revolt. I am only using a small army of Nazguls to take it, every tick its 100%, but it will look suspicious and it might seem like I am going for the fearsome scores, which I am not.

I do not have the resources to train 71k hammers, gaia would not work because peasants would stay there. And I do not really want to waste that much resources to save up to train hammers... And I do not want to burn and destroy as its a nice town.

Ideas how to stop it from revolting?

05:45:51 Sep 22nd 16 - Jesus Left Toe (Lord Heyzeus The Conqueror):

Transfer all pezzies from city into a scout??

05:55:48 Sep 22nd 16 - Endless (Lady Nerdanel of Mahtan Feanor):

Keep your army stationed in the city until the moral goes up

06:03:29 Sep 22nd 16 - Jesus Left Toe (Lord Heyzeus The Conqueror):

Burn the city to the ground?

15:57:02 Sep 22nd 16 - Princess Aisha:

You guys are vets you should know these things.

JLT its not possible to transfer slaves if morale is low
Endless 71k peasants will revolt if 1k Naz are in city.  I am not sure what is the ratio probably 1 to 25. Means 1k Naz will prevent 25k pez to revolt, 75k will revolt each tick.
JLT he did say he does not want to burn the city cause its nice.

He asked me and I told him its not possible to stop revolting, he would need to send another army there or train alnost all peasants, thats only way

16:16:34 Sep 22nd 16 - Binh (Mr. Binh):

or you can kill all the pes as quickly as possible.

you could split a really small part of your army out so that it's around 70% as strong as the defense of the town. And then make a fail hit at low %. It will likely slaughter your army but will kill a lot of the town's peasants.

19:21:44 Sep 22nd 16 - Sir Prob Lematic:

The guy quit and now even native people are revolting :-(

19:10:08 Sep 23rd 16 - Ryan the Archion (Mr. Archblade XIV):

I usually cast Happiness to it until it reach 100%. Done that this previous era in the ROC core. But a bit expensive for MUs, so I create armies to divide MUs by at least 5k each.

22:49:50 Sep 23rd 16 - Mr. Pang Tong:

Preventing a revolt:

1) Happiness
2) Train all remain peasants into troops
3) Maintain your current army on the city
4) With eventual morale going up, you can transfer pez out of the city
5) Destroy homes/city

23:27:25 Sep 23rd 16 - Sir Prob Lematic:

1. Too expensive, deep in enemy territory, range makes it hard to do...

2. 71k troops, way too expensive to train 71k hammers that I do not need
3. Maintaining my current army on the city does not help, as stated before it revolts cause 1k Naz can not control it.
4. Morale is 2%, for it to get over 50% or what ever is needed to be able to transfer peasants, I would need to wait 2 days, but since the city revolts in 1 hour, that can't happen.
5. Destroying homes does nothing cause peasants still revolt, they just die after a while, and then I have to rebuild the homes cause as I stated I want to keep the city.

In the end the way I fixed this was to simply train all peasants into Shamans
Cause there was no other way...

02:43:19 Sep 25th 16 - Mr. Pang Tong:

"In the end the way I fixed this was to simply train all peasants into Shamans

- That is still "#2", Magic units are still considered "troops". So problem is fixed

03:23:46 Sep 25th 16 - Sir Dilemma:

The problem was solved only because I had to retake the city seven more times, so on each take over there were little bit less peasants, so instead of having to train 70k peasants, it ended up being 20k peasants when I trained them. Still its not a good solution if you have to wait a whole day for peasants to die to actually keep the city.

03:49:45 Sep 25th 16 - Mr. Pang Tong:

There is no "good solution" if you aren't capable of doing it. Otherwise if you were an orc, you could have just B&D (but then you get no city and no more revolts) :P

Looks like you reasoned yourself into a corner.

"Still its not a good solution"

There's not supposed to be a good solution. You take an angry city, you need to make a choice. The fact that training pes is even an option is silly. They're ready to revolt. Why would they all line up to join your army?

05:22:23 Sep 25th 16 - Sir Dilemma:

Lets take a look at it from an objective point of view.
You have thousand Nazgul riders and take a city. Techinically you could send those Naz and kill all the angry peasants. It seems stupid that 1k Naz are not able to keep a city in control.

If it was 1k Gaia, sure 70k angry peasants would be a problem. But not for large powerful dragons. Instead of numbers the formula should take into considering the strength of the army.

10:29:02 Dec 29th 16 - Lord Water Bender:

This question should be: is there a cheap way of preventing revolt if you are not able to cast happiness?

Yes. It usually costs less than 7 million gold for orc, halfer or elf.
Yes for other races too, as it usually costs less than 14 mil for Troll,Dwf,Hmn

The exact cost  is below
 (#PezInCity * Level_1_TroopCost) + CostToWreck(AllEmptyHouses)
------
**the statement, "gaia would not work because peasants would stay there." is not correct. It's just not true, so forget that and see #3 below**

First off, if you have 1 or more taverns,  your cities morale will auto reset to 90% in a single tick under the following condition:
There must be no peasants in the city 'at the end of one tick', and no peasants in the city 'at the beginning of the next tick.'

** essentially, have 1 tavern and no pez in any city for 2 ticks in a row = the morale resets to at least 90%, revolt is no longer possible, and you can move pez in and out of the city like normal again.

------------------
how to do it

1. take the city
2. wreck all "un-filled" houses so you have less than 25 "Free beds."

  (Pez) In city:

2478
Filled: 99%
Free beds: 20

3. Non orc race ->  train all the remaining pez into level 1 troops.
Orc -> train the max # of gaia on the training screen. *note, refresh your browser after wrecking houses and go to training screen to find the 'max #'
ex. We can currently train max 2478 troops (or 2498 Gaia) in this city.

4. For all races: After training, wreck 1 more house so that no more pez come.
ex.  We can currently train max 0 troops (or 0 Gaia) in this city.

5.  The very next tick your cities morale resets to 90% - 95%. Then it's okay to move your army away.  And I have done this in the last 2 weeks, it works.

So anyway, there you go.This only takes 1 tick and some gold to prevent revolt.

-------
the end
there is a cheaper way to reset morale without taverns or wrecking any houses, but it's to risky and useful to mention here. you will figure it out if you try the above late era.

10:41:24 Dec 29th 16 - Princess Aisha:

Water Bender, as soon as all peasants are trained, city can not revolt any more. No need for taverns or any formulas

10:52:58 Dec 29th 16 - Mr. Uwer:

-Build taverns. Invest on the city if you really want it.

And of course, keep your army there until the morale go up. They will revolt.

10:12:28 Jan 6th 17 - Lord Water Bender:

@ Aisha
shhh, dont tell them everything
just kidding!
I guess the taverns are not needed,

but I dispute that you can just train all the pez and prevent revolt/get a morale reset to 90%.
I trained all the pez in a city on Fant last tick. And morale only increased 1% per tick.

I remain firm, that if more pez come into the city the next tick, your morale increases minimally, and the city can still revolt.

To get a morale reset, There must be no peasants for 2 ticks in a row.
you have to wreck empty houses or fill them with mus/weak troops

10:25:22 Jan 6th 17 - Ms. Ella II:

New peasants will not revolt, they are loyal to you
