If armies have exp i large merge on Zetamania, and we change leader of the merge, do armies lose that exp?

Merges on Zetamania are actually really messed up because you can pile units into a merge someone else owns that contains armies you put in and it doesn't merge your armies together despite the fact that they are still in the merge, which allows you to stack armies on top of EXP'd Adventurer stacks without losing said EXP.
