Warehouses

Store 100 times more resources then farms/mines/mills. *

Hello all, I have a question about Warehouses... It says all buildings have unlimited amount of resources they can keep, so whats the purpose of Warehouses? Is it in case of Plunder attack? So the attacked cant take anything?

Another thing I want to ask, if you have mining city outside core of the KD, and someone tries to plunder it, if you have Warehouses in the core, do they cover the resources or you have to have Warehouses in that mining city so you dont loose resources?

Thank you for your replies.

Resources are evenly divided among the cities. If you have 10 million stone and 5000 Mines in City A and 4000 Mines in City B and 1000 Mines in City C then it will be divided like this:

City A will hold 5 million stone. (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000) x 5000)
City B will hold 4 million stone. (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000) x 4000)
City C will hold 1 million stone. (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000) x 1000)

As you see, the stone is divided evenly among the Mines. Lets say you make City D with 100 Warehouses. They store 100 times more, so they count for 10000 Mines. Then it will be divided like this:

City A will hold 2,5 million stone (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000 + 10000) x 5000)
City B will hold 2 million stone (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000 + 10000) x 4000)
City C will hold 0,5 million stone (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000 + 10000) x 1000)
City D will hold 5 million stone (10 million : (5000 + 4000 + 1000 + 10000) x 10000)

Hence warehouses shift your resources to that city due their huge storing capacity and since the stone is still evenly divided. Make warehouse cities to make sure most of your resources are in that city. That will make sure the enemy will not get their hands on them, assuming your warehouse city is well-defended. If the enemy gets your warehouse city, you are very screwed. Thats the risk.

Also, warehouses work well in getting a lot of stone in one city, allowing more efficient stone to gold castings.

The warehouse town holds most resources, so if a different town of your was plundered you lose next to nothing. However if the town with the warehouses in get plundered you lose next to everything.

It's also very important for StG.

Thats by far the best explanation of warehouses I've ever seen. And theres like 10 Warehouse topics too.

Great explanation. The way you did the math doesn't really make sense, but you got the right numbers so, whatever.

Resource in city = Total Resource   X    % of total storage in city

Makes a lot more sense mathematically.

Good explanation David - easy to understand.
