Why does magic failsucceed
01:35:34 Sep 13th 22 - Matthew (Mr. Xeta):

Why does magic chain-fail or chain-succeed when you press 'cast again'?

Has anyone else noticed this or just Binh/Pure/Myself?

My understanding is that the new players are better than the 'old' players, can someone explain this to me?

I can demonstrate what im talking about live on Discord or Twitch if you are confused.

Does anyone know?

It’s cause the RNG isn’t a “true” RNG and resets slower than it should. Modern RNG is stupid fast and uses complex systems to ensure it’s as random as you can get. VU’ uses older logic that doesn’t capture the same level of “random” and often hangs in blocks for short periods of times (scale of seconds). Doesn’t impact the averages (if you take a sample of 150+, it always collapses in the states chance) just has more runs (both positive and negative) than should be possible in a true RNG case.

Kon’s solution is to never hit “cast again”, and instead fully reload the spell (click Magic, choose spell, choose target, etc). Doing so stalls it enough you typically get a new RNG roll. For good measure, I usually wait 5 seconds as well unless it’s a time-sensitive issue.

Nothing is broken, mechanics are working as they should. Just a result of old logic.

Interesting, thank you.

I always cast again on successes and never cast again on fails.

I found 20 seconds to be a good interval to wait between casts.

Thank you again for your insight Percy.
