Rainbows
06:19:33 Jul 23rd 10 - Mr. Yogi of Yogi:

I am new so bare with me.

Ok from what I hear rainbows are overall bad due to production problems. But from my experimentation I saw at one point a city with mines and farms with 100% production. If this can be the case what is wrong with rainbows? Is it the fact that you are not getting all that you can get out of a city with two manufacturing types due to space limitations? Or is it the fact of not having enough peasants to keep up with production? Is it time constraints? What is the real problem with them? Why is it a problem?

Just trying to figure it out.
Thanks

nothing really wrong with rainbows.

it's when you don't get the bonus from being near a resource that makes a rainbow crap.

if you're only near a mountain and build farms, they're inefficient.

Im confused on these bonus's what are they and how do you even know you achieved the bonus?

Cities near mountains and certain water spots get a mining bonus, so build mines near mountains.

Rivers give a food bonus, so build farm towns near rivers.

Trees on the map give... wait for it.... tree bonus :) So build your lumbermill towns near trees.

As to the first question of what is wrong with rainbows.... the main reason is it pisses people off who take them. I hate seeing a juicy 56k right next to a mountain, and then I catch it and its homes, farms, lumbermills, taverns, armories and just bout everything else. Seriously that is just crap, but like Duchess said, smart rainbows are ok.

just to add, you can't really tell when you've truly achieved full bonus anymore because of the scaling production of income.... but generally later on, look through your mines and all should be producing the same, if they're not... you probably don't have full bonus.
