01:54:31 Aug 6th 08 - Prince Waldorfius Septim III:

[[OOC: This is the story of Gavis Cidellius, ancestor to Tiber Septim and the entire Septim line.]]

The land of Serillia was a land of beauty and serenity. A war had not defiled it's citizens in over two hundred years, back in the days of Ressin Serillar and the Serillian Civil War. That peace was about to be disrupted by a country that had once been a part of Seriillia, but not since the last war. Zerin Xarfor's ancestor had led a rebellion two centuries ago, and now, his descendant wished to finish the job, or that was the story that he gave to his citizens and army. But, far from politics, far from the capital, stood a small ranch in a small village. The village had been untouched by time, war, strife, and conflict for half a millenium, it was not a strategic location. No cities were nearby, no forts, the only reason anybody would conquer it would be the farms that lied around it. The village was called Baerstrom.

The ranch was large, but the house small. It's large hearth kept it's inhabitants warm in the wintertime, and also allowed them to cook some of their meals. The father was a tough looking man, many scars graced his body and mind. He had once been a Xarforian soldier, one of the best, but no man was immune to sorrow, and that was what he felt when he slew his brother in battle. He was now a kind man, but he told nobody of his fratricide.
The mother was a woman of around fifty, her once brown hair dominated by grey hairs. She had been the daughter of the Baerstrom blacksmith, and she had met her husband twenty years ago. She had found him as a wanderer, hurt and full of sorrow, and had managed to give him a happiness.

Gavis Cidellius was the youngest son at eighteen years old, his older brother and sister were gone. His brother serving, against his father's wishes, in the Xarfonian Army, his sister off in Serillia learning some long forgotten art. Gavis was still helping on the ranch. He was the best horse rider in town, even better than his father, but his father had forbidden him from ever learning to use a blade or bow. He was currently on his bed, not wishing to rise until he heard his father up. His thoughts were on his brother, and wondering why his father had not wished him to join. He also wondered why he would join them in the first place, their King was a despot and their "country" was a mess. Gavis would've joined the Serillian Army if he was allowed to. He heard his father get up and jumped out of bed, after getting dressed he went out to meet his father.
"Hello Gavis," said his father, Garrus Cidellius.
"Hello father," said Gavis as he at a few slices of bread and a few pieces of bacon for breakfast.
The rest of Gavis's day consisted of helping his father around the ranch, it was tough work, but easier than farming. He also got to do what he enjoyed most, riding his horse.

[[OOC: Putting this on hold, writing another story...]]

04:54:26 Dec 16th 08 - Prince Validus Septim II:

As Gavis walked inside from his work, his mother greeted him.
"Hello son," said his mother, Gena.
"Hello mother, what is for dinner?" asked Gavis.
"Bread and beans," said his mother.
Gavis walked to his room and sat down.
Why did Carn leave? Why did Nara leave? Dammit, why can't I leave?
Gavis sat on his bed thinking for the longest time before his father called him.
"Gavis, dinner," said his father.
Gavis walked over to eat dinner, and afterwards went to his room. His father later entered.
"Gavis, what is the matter?" asked Garrus.
"I want to join the Serillian Army," said Gavis before he could stop himself.
Garrus's expression changed, "No! Carn left against my wishes and I'm not going to have the same happen to you! Expecially in an army that opposes your brother. I am not going to have my sons fighting against eachother!"
"The odds are that we'll never see eachother on the battlefield!" exclaimed Gavis.
"I said NO!" yelled Garrus in rage before leaving the room.
Gavis sat back, he had done it, he had angered his father.

Later that night, Garrus entered the room again.
"Son, sorry for earlier," he said.
Gavis didn't respond and Garrus sat in a chair in the corner.
"I guess it's time to explain why I won't let you join the military. Twenty-five years ago, I too was in the Serillian Army in the Granian War. My younger brother, Gaius, was on the other side. We met on the battlefield, but neither of us knew it, our helmets blocked our faces. We engaged in battle...and I...I killed him...I killed my baby brother..."
Gavis was in shock, his father had never even told Gavis that he was in the military. Gavis doubted that even his mother knew about Gaius's death.
"Father...I'm...I'm sorry," said Gavis.
"No, I'm sorry..." said Garrus, "If it is what will make you happy, then join the Serillian Army. I want what makes you happy..."
"What if I kill Carn?" asked Gavis, obviously afraid for his brother's life.
"You said it yourself: the odds of you meeting Carn on the battlefield are very slim," said Garrus, "If you wish to go, then go..."
Garrus left the room, and Gavis was left thinking heavily on his father's words.
