16:27:36 Sep 25th 08 - Mr. Haldir: A short, cloaked man stands with crossed arms, watching the soldiers in the streets below. He throws black his cloak to show dark brown armor and a circlet on his head, distinguishing him as Haldir, Dwarf Lord of Dol Amroth. Unsheathing a broadsword, he releases a savage cry, encouraging his people. Turning, Haldir races down the stairs followed by a squad of his royal guard, to confront his besiegers. Six feet from the bottom of the stairs, the dwarf leaps into open space. Falling downwards, he swongs his sword down, cleaving a soldiers head in two. pulling his sword free, Haldir swings at another of the soldiers and kills him in one hit. By this time, his guards have arrived and stand back to back, their swords bloody. With a snap of his fingers, Haldir signals his warriors, who fall into line behind him as he charges toward the city gates, driving before him the soldiers of Mr Onkus. The battle is almost won, when a two deafening sounds pierce the night air. The first, a loud thud of huge wings beating the air, and the second, a shriek that could only come from the mouth of one creature...Nazgul! Sliding to a stop, Haldir and his guards lift their eyes to the horrible creature above. A command leaps from Haldir's lips, and three ballistae on the walls of Dol Amroth fire simultaneously. Evading the first two missiles, the nazgul and its rider, rise above the city and the dwarves gasp. A second later, the flaming javelin fired from the ballista buries itself in the nazguls breast, and a scream tears from its throat. Unable to stop its fall, the beast crashes into a tower, then slips to the ground. Seconds before the creature lands, a black-cloaked figure leaps from its back, landing crouched on the ground. As it rises to its feet, a broadsword stabs through the empty hood and a blinding light flashes. As the Black Rider falls, Haldir stumbles backwards, holding his swordarm. Disheartened by the death of their general, Onkus' troops retreat, leaving the city in peace. But not in total peace, for the lord of Dol Amroth's son, Elrohir, lies dead on thebattlefield. For a moment, the city is silent, but then mourning breaks out in the city of Dol Amroth, for their victory has come with a cost. | ||||
