The Battles
19:00:21 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Right, this will be(hopefully) an organised thread. Nice and neat...
You're the commander of 100 men, and you have to kill the other guys (and girls... though I doubt it...) that join. You have to feed your troops and get resources to make weapons. I will make a map in paint, and put your positions on it.
There are 8 races, and only a max. of 2 per race. They have various traits and characteristics. I'll explain everything later.

19:01:22 Jan 29th 08 - Sir Vengence:

cool. only, shall I bother to join....

19:02:31 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Sign Ups(this has to persuade you):

19:20:01 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Wraithish:

I might join but I'd prefer more information about rules and how to play first  :)

19:58:38 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Of course... I was going to finish, just I had to have dinner first.

There are 8 races, and only a max. of 2 can play per race. They have various traits and characteristics. You have to describe your guy, and s/he has to be similiar to the race in general.(can someone give me the average weight of a human in pounds please? I'll just base them around that then.

Humans. Averages everything. From 5 foot to 6 foot 9 inches in height. Of various builds.

Elves. Great magic & ranged fighting. Poor mélée fighters. From 6 foot to 7 foot 6 inches. Tall and skinny-ish...

Dwarfs. Good miners. Bad lumberers. Poor magic & ranged fighting. Good mélée fighters. From 4 foot to 5 foot. Short and stout.

Halflings. Good food collectors. Good healers. Bad mélée fighters. Good ranged fighters(other than bows...). From 3 foot 6 inches to 5 foot. Short and average build.

Orcs. Bad food collectors. Great mélée fighters. Bad healers. Bad magic. From 5 foot to 5 foot 6 inches. Short and average build.

Trolls. Good mélée fighters. Good lumberers. From 6 foot to 9 foot. Big and broad build.

Gnomes. Poor fighters. Good builders. From 2 foot to 4 foot. Small build.

Golems. Great mélée fighters. Bad magic and ranged fighting. Poor builders. From 8 foot to 10 foot.

23:22:51 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Sorry, didn't get round to explaining evreything earlier.
Ok, you've got 100 men. They collect various resources, e.g. food, ores, different types of wood. You set your men a job for each of them, so these 20 guys go collect food, these 50 ores, e.g. copper, these 30 wood, e.g. oak. They can each collect a certain amount of resources each, and depending on where you are on the map I'm making, more or less. You have to be beside a mountain to get ores and beside a forest to get wood. You have to have certain items to collect ores(pick-axe of some sort) and wood(axe of some sort). There is different things you can make the items out of, just like weapons. So say, an iron sword. You go get your iron ore, and then go to the furnace to smelt it. You then get a blacksmith to make the weapon from the metal you have from the furnace. Which takes me onto the next thing, skills a person has.
Ok, so you have 100 men. They are all unskilled and you have to train them to do something. You have to get various people(people skilled in the skill you want to train your troop to do) to train your guys, which costs(unless it's your own troop who is now skilled in whatever skill). There are stages in the troops training they have to go through, e.g.  for a mage... apprentice, illusionist, magician, mage, wizard.(magic isn't too strong by the way, otherwise magical dudes would whip ass)
The skills are:
Healer. Heal other troops.
Wizard(mage... whatever you want to call it). Casts magic.
Bowyer. Makes bows(and arrows)
Furnacer. Makes metal from ores.
Smith. Makes weapons and tools from metals.

There are other skills, lumbering, mining, gathering food, which troops are automatically trained in, and can't get any better. There may be other skills if I can think of any. A better skilled person(in whatever) can train someone quicker than a less skilled person.

Weapons will take time to make, and it will take your troops time to train with them to be able to use them.

I will say what your troops can get at some stage soon, while waiting for a few more to sign up(hopefully. I'm going to join myself... just seeing what races go and which stay)

To start off, you will get 5 knives for your troops... that's all as weaponry and everything else, apart from 100 gold. Pretty poor, but you'll have to get the weapons yourself. Though, you will get a lovely mithril weapon for your ownself, whatever weapon you choose, or from whatever materials. It can be a ranged weapon or mélée weapon. It can be as good as you like.

Can you give descriptions of your characters leading the troops please? Height, weight(reasonablely in comparison with your race), build etc. And a description of your weapon.

23:23:12 Jan 29th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Not a machine gun or anything though...

23:25:42 Jan 29th 08 - Prince Cephorus Septim IV:

[I will post what jobs my troops do when I can see the map :) ]

19:13:42 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Killer:

It'll be a while before I have the map done I'm afraid... You can't be a powerful mage, sorry. You can't be exceptionally skilled with your weapons either. Can't be skilled at all. You can use your weapons pretty well though, and have a staff for later when you are a powerful mage.

  1. Erunion Telcontar - Elf
  2. Sir Revenge - Troll
  3. Might - Dwarf
  4. Wraithish - Elf
  5. Meowman(if you're joining you need to give a race)
Recruiting - Right, you'll obviously have to be able to recruit troops, as you only have 100. By the way, you're commander dude doesn't have to eat any food, but can't do any menial tasks such as resource gathering. S/he can learn skills though, and teach them on.
You can recruit 0.05 troops with one troop each day. Basically, you need 20 troops to get another troop each day. You can't have a bit of a troop, so you can't have left-overs adding up to it, so you may as well have multiples of 20 recruiting.

Ok, next, building(sorry about having to add on all this stuff as I go along) : You can collect stone anywhere, and get wood from forest. You can build various fortifications to help defend yourself. I'll say more about them another time...

Here are the various skill levels stages...

Healer - Apprentice, Twaza, Cleric, Sangoma, Healer
Wizard - Apprentice, Illusionist, Magician, Mage, Wizard
Bowyer - Apprentice, Journey-man, Master, Grand-master
Furnacer - Apprentice, Journey-man, Master, Grand-master
Smith - Apprentice, Journey-man, Master, Grand-master

I'll say the various stages in which they can train others later... got to go...

20:50:26 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

Complicated ain't it?

Killer. I dunno if ill be able to keep up seeing as how I have my hands full with my other game :D

20:53:05 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Killer:

No, it's not complicated. It'll be easy when it starts, trust me. All you have to do is say: I send these 10 guys to get food, these 20 to get wood, these 50 to get ores, these 20 to recruit. Easy.

21:03:05 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

[Good Idea....]

I send these 10 guys to get food, these 20 to get wood, these 50 to get ores, these 20 to recruit. Easy.

Thats what I do!

21:28:23 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

  1. Erunion Telcontar - Elf
  2. Sir Revenge - Troll
  3. Might - Dwarf
  4. Wraithish - Elf
  5. Ben - Human

21:38:20 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

Ben

ponytail black hair , black eyes , loves music and taking long walks on the beach :p
7'6
90k most of it is muscles

wields a longbow and the arrows of this bow have diamond heads and a graphet  longsword

21:52:07 Jan 30th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

(7'5? 7'6? Wow. Some darn easy longbow targets here...)

21:52:59 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Wraithish:

Hey erunion, Longbows are inaccurate at long range. I already told you that   =P

21:54:05 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Wraithish:

(besides the fact I had a typo and pressed 7 instead of 6 but anyway...) ;)

21:59:07 Jan 30th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

Longbows themselves only become inaccurate at over 150-200 metres. Up 'til then, it largely relies upon the relative skill of the longbowman.

A seven foot six inch target made mostly out of mustle (see Ben) is an extremely easy target for any elven longbowman under 200 meters away... A distance Ben (or yourself) is likely to cross before I've gotten four shots off. And that's if your an Olympic sprinter...

22:00:46 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

lol i didnt know what to put for my hight so thats why i copied of wraith , but i didnt copy the long bow

22:01:24 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

double post :(

22:24:35 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

well the truth is i suck at using feet and inches so thats why i copied of wraith lol i dont even know how a 7'6 man looks like

22:29:35 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Wraithish:

I think thats about 2 metres... Thats what I thought but I dont know imperial measurements very well

22:53:20 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Pan:

Humans. Averages everything. From 5 foot to 6 foot 9 inches in height. Of various builds.

well ill just have to change my height.to 6'0 and im sure now

23:20:29 Jan 30th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

1 foot is (approx) 30 centimeters.
So you're talking 210-215 centimetres in height respectively. (Approx.)
Hope that helps.

23:31:40 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Seven foot six human? Bloody tall... Possible, but I'm afraid I've already put the restrictions on height in. It would even be tall for an elf... though probably could have the height restriction a bit bigger. And Meowman, I'm still waiting for your race. And yeah, a ruler has 30 centimetres one side, and 12 inches the other, very close. An inch is 2.55 centimetres, I think. I'm going to work on the map now for a bit...

23:39:22 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Meowman:

err... i'm already in like 5 RPs so this added on will be to much for my brain cell... sorry, I'm out.

23:45:19 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Killer:

23:47:13 Jan 30th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Errrr... I'm not sure how to get in here... I only started the map, and it's just a lot of green squares, but if I can't get it in here...

00:16:37 Jan 31st 08 - Mr. Killer:

It doesn't require much activity...
My masterpiece is finished, only I don't know how I'll post it so other can admire it... It really is only green with blobs of other colour on it, but it is recognizable... sort of... It's easy enough to see what is what from the colours...

00:40:48 Jan 31st 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

Create an account in photobucket or some other such program. Follow the steps to upload, then copy the html link, come to the forums, click on the button with a picture of a tree in it, then paste in the pop up screen. Click OK. Your image will then upload.

16:29:50 Jan 31st 08 - Mr. Wraithish:

Damn sorry then. My mistake... Dont suppose I can change to 6'3? Thats my height in RL (I checked) :P

16:38:35 Jan 31st 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

[Erm.....so how much resources have my guys gotten and stuff?]

23:25:13 Jan 31st 08 - Mr. Killer:

None, we haven't started... Sign-ups are still in progress... Sure, you can change it.

23:27:48 Jan 31st 08 - Mr. Killer:

Ummm... any more suggestions?

00:03:57 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Killer:

Now, the fun part... fighting. There are two types, one where all your troops battle against the other, and duelling,

Battling(all your troops fighting with you)
Ok, I'll give a sort of picture of the place where you're fighting, and you'll say where you want your troops to go, as long as they can go there. Like this...

         ____  20 troops(armed with swords etc.)____________
       |                                                                                          |
     2|                                       /\                                                 | 2
     0|                        /\                       /\                                       | 0
     t |                                   /\                                 /\                  | t
     r |                                                /\                                        | r
     o |                             /\                                 /\                        | o
     o |                                                                                          | o
     p  _____________________________________________  p
     s                          41 troops(armed with swords etc.)             s

The sides are the walls. This is for when you're attacking a village. The little things in the middle are huts, which the people live in. The troops at the side are armed with bows and the like. There are 50 troops around and inside the huts fairly well trained and okily equipped, and 200 troops not equipped at all.

         ____  20 troops(armed with swords etc.)____________
       |                                                                                          |
     2|                                       /\                                                 | 2
     0|                        /\                       /\                                       | 0
     t |                                   /\                                 /\                  | t
     r |                                                /\                                        | r
     o |                             /\                                 /\                        | o
     o |        41 troops(the ones at the bottom last time)              | o
     p  _____________________________________________  p
     s                                                                                              s

The troops then progress from the bottom up, while the ones at the side fire at the troops in the huts, and the 40 troops push them back, scattering them about the place, up towards the 20 at the top. The troops living in the village aren't organised, even though they are greater in number and lose most of their troops. 30 people that are left in the end join the other group, after they have surrendered, and 20 don't, and stay behind to regroup and build the village again. 60 of the troops of the invaders died, but they got gold and other resources afterwards.

Duelling
Duelling is pretty simple, two guys fight against each other alone, with whatever terms they agreed on when one dies or loses. This will most often be your commander. One will act, then the other will react, and then I decide what's what. Then one will act, the other react, then I decide what's what again. This goes on until one dies or loses.

00:04:46 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Killer:

That came up weird...

00:08:48 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Killer:

Villages, towns and city. These are shown on my map(...whenever I get it up) and this is where you can get most skilled people to work for you, but there is some wandering elsewhere. There are 50 trained troops in a village, with 200 other people(they can fight to...). There are 500 trained troops in a town, and 5,000 other people. There are 10,000 trained troops in the city, and 100,000 other people. You'll not take over the city or towns most likely, but you might take over a village. You get various resources and gold when you do, or lose.

00:21:46 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

Has it started yet?

00:29:20 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Killer:

No... I have to get the map in here first.

18:14:42 Feb 1st 08 - Mr. Killer:

Map-1.jpg picture by Killer4_2008
Yay! The green blobs are forests, the blue blobs, lakes, the brown blobs, mountains, and the grey blobs, villages, towns or cities.

Sorry, have to fix this...
10 food per troop(+1 for halfling)(+2 beside a lake, -2 beside a mountain
1 stone per troop
0.05 recruits per troop
Tree...(trolls get a 0.1 bonus)
5 rowan per troop
3 oak per troop
2 maple per troop
1 willow per troop
0.1 yew per troop
Ore...(dwarfs get a 0.1 bonus)
5 tin per troop
5 copper per troop
3 iron per troop
1 coal per troop
0.1 mithril per troop
And troops eat 1 food each...
I'm going to change the map slightly, so there'll be numbers and letters on the side in my next post, and then we'll start.
