The Kingdom of Animals |
23:12:11 Oct 23rd 08 - Mr. Killer:
Alright, this will be a story, or rather I should say, many stories. I won't bother bringing Plutis(the game of) back up, unless someone actually wants to play it. This will be nice and simple, each to his/her own stories.
Ok, how it works: You pick any animal you want(well, not quite, I'll explain a bit better further down). You write a story about an animal of that kind(Species - of Order/Superorder or one of those thingies(Insects and similiar creatures, maybe more)/ Family(Others, lowest life form is insects/creepy-crawlies or whatnot)
You write anyway you want, however, a few things: 1. You cannot use an animal(species) already used; 2. No creatures, other than humans, can be evil, but may be considered as such.(though there are some (almost) evil ones like chimpanzees and killer whales(and odd animals of a type can be considered as such as well) and such, but don't make them out to be apart from the animal's viewpoint. You probably don't get me, but you'll see eventually, maybe); 3. They can have human characteristics, but no weapons(I'll let you allow them to throw stuff and monkeys and apes can use sticks, such as religion and such(try and keep them to their own lifestyles though...); 4. You cannot choose humans(I'm doing them at the end of every era(or every so often depending on how successful this is), you CANNOT start now, not until the start of the next era); 5. I might ignore a story if it's crap(like my own...); 6. You can only do ONE a week; 7. Avoid doing similiar animal types; 8. Here's how the animals will be sorted, and you can only fill up animals that have not been done. 1 - 1 story, 10 - 2 stories, 100 - 3 stories, 1,000(max.) - 4 stories
All under the kingdom of Animals(Animalia)
Classes of Mammals, Birds(ugh, it's too confusing sorry) go under family(those numbers above thingies), with a few exceptions, such as bats, dogs(wolves and foxes etc. are seperate) and the like. Bear is 8 species for example, so one story, Deer is 40 species so two stories(admittedly there may be some a bit off) Insects - Flies, Beetles, Butterflies, Moths etc. Amphibians - Frogs, Newts, Toads etc.
Any questions, ask me, handiest way of doing it.

[[If you did like...the first one and I saw what it was like...I would be interested...I have done animalistic stories before]]

12:15:47 Oct 24th 08 - Demonic Shezmu:
I agree with Charley overthere...any chance of a "template" story? and do "fantasy" creatures fit into this as well? cuz I do have quite a few nasties roaming the lands of Carrothia...

15:44:09 Oct 24th 08 - Lord Charley Deallus:
I am just not 100% sure as how you want us to do this. If I knew I was doing it right I would probably give it a shot.

20:04:21 Oct 24th 08 - Lord Wolven Warrior:
1 - 1 story, 10 - 2 stories, 100 - 3 stories, 1,000(max.) - 4 stories
So do you mean different types of species in that?
as in if there is only one type of species in a certain group, then only one story can be written, 10 then 2 stories etc

21:40:20 Oct 24th 08 - Mr. Samual:
Does nayone actully read all of these storys may i ask its just im a teen and i dont know if adults actully read storys
|
21:56:55 Oct 24th 08 - Lord Wolven Warrior:
I am only a teen myself, and yet I will read these stories.
The best way of becoming a better writer yourslef is to read other peoples stories; you learn from their writing. anyone who wishes to become a better writer should do this; so yes, I do read these stories for those reasons.
however I cannot vouch for anyone else.

|
22:41:01 Oct 24th 08 - Lord Charley Deallus:
It has a lot of different stuff going on...I usually write with good grammar and have interesting storylines...

14:30:52 Oct 26th 08 - Mr. Killer:
Ok... The no. of stories is exactly how Wolven Warrior said(Families, Orders or whatnot). No fantasy creatures, sorry. But you can make ordinary animals sound pretty scary if you try. Template story, yes, when the era begins, I'll do one about squirrels, unless anyone has any objections. 9. You can write as many parts to the story as you wish, each at least have to have 200 words(64 up to words, so it's not really that much), over the period of a week, and you can only do one a week.
I shall do a story about a boy now, which I'll add to at the end of each era, but this can't really be considered as a template story, so wait until tomorrow for the one about the squirrels. (Also, please don't sp@m)

(oh, and no extinct animals, all in modern time)
The Human
Kingdom: Animal Phylum: Chordate Class: Mammal Order: Primate Family: Hominidae Genus: Homo Species: Homo Sapiens
T'was a cold winter, icy snow leapt from branch to branch amid a terrible gale. Every animal other the foolish human sook shelter from the wrath of Nature. A solitary boy stood out, shielding his eyes and breathing through a scarf. He waited for his father to come home, he had forgotten the keys once more. A jeep drove across the barren wilderness, skidding along the icy roads. It ground to a halt before the small rented bungalow, and ushered the boy quickly inside. A fire was lit and the boy practically threw himself into the hearth, shivering and blue. The logs ablaze, his father asked his son what had happened to the keys. The boy pointed to the key rack on the kitchen shelf, rattling with the breeze that had followed them into the house. The father nodded his head slowly, amazed that he had forgotten them yet again. He knelt before his son, and said "We have to move again, to Australia, for my work." The boy nodded his head, this was a common occurance. He never saw much of his father, and they always moved hither and thither. They flew out the next morning, arriving in a sunny blazing desert a day or two after, the boy had lost track of time. He was saddened, despite their many travellings, he had yet not to see snow so near the eve of Christmas(finish this later...)

Sorry...
The Red Squirrel
Kingdom: Animal Phylum: Chordate Class: Mammal Order: Rodent Family: Sciuridae Genus: Sciurus Species: Sciurus Vulgaris
This is set in Ireland, red squirrels used to plentiful, but since grey squirrels have been imported from America, their numbers have declined. The "hero" of this tale is Rua, Irish for red(dearg is actually more commonly used, rua might be a different type of red, I don't know) Iora is the Irish for squirrel. Iora rua is a red squirrel, iora glas(green...) a grey one. It is because of a disease that kills the red squirrel, carried by grey squirrels(but doesn't affect grey squirrels) that their numbers have declined.
Rua perched upon an acorn tree, looking down at the woodland's creatures going about their own business beneath him. A mouse scurrying away from a red fox, who gave little heed to the small creature and continued on his own way. A few birds twittered loudly in the trees beneath as Rua quickly descended rapidly off the one of the highest trees in the woodland, which had stood there for many generations before Rua had first clambered along its long branches, reaching to all trees closeby. It was the late in the summer, good for foraging for small berries and seeds. The young squirrel raced through the large woodland, quickly devouring berries that crossed his path and collecting acorns and such to store. It was but the early morning, and the sun rose lazily in its great arc. Rua spotted a grey squirrel, of lesser seasons than him, who recently stopped weaning. It was Grey, a squirrel he sometimes conversed with, surprising for either species. "Dia duit, conas atá tú?" Rua asked. Grey stammered him answer slowly. "Errr... táim go... go... errrr... máith." Rua chuckled. Still, Grey sadly could speak Irish better than many red squirrels. They continued in English, which Rua could speak fluently, with few stumbles. "How goes the foraging?" Rua asked. "Ah, 'tis a fine summer, berries and nuts aplenty." Rua smiled, Grey spoke as if he had lived many seasons. "Well, I fear, I must make the best of it, and make myself scarce. Good foraging, Dair(Dair is Oak. I'm using it as (one of) their(red squirrel's(in Ireland)) Goddess sort of thing) leis." "Agus le thú féin. Slan." Rua scampered along the leafy floor, Grey sniffed at the ground suspiciously. A fox appeared through some bushes, probably the same one that had wandered around there beforehand. Grey was balancing on the twig of a birch but moments later, and Rua disappeared from view. The fox walked slowly from the small clearing, and Rua appeared beside grey. "Wonder what he's searching for?" wondered Rua aloud. "Ah, what but the ends of the earth where Sciurus(grey squirrel's one god(and some other species of squirrel)) sleeps, dreaming of schemes to improve the earth and all his creations." Rua refrained from arguing about the true gods and the grey squirrel's false idol, who was clearly a joke of some kind. How could a single god create such things of beauty as found on the earth's surface, or create both evil and good? "I vote we follow him." Rua pondered this, not liking to risk Grey's life, but knowing he would follow anyway, and couldn't but help wonder. "Let us go quickly and quietly then."
(I'll continue this(unlike the other one) over the rest of the week. You can start one if you so like and carry it on to next week, or do one for this week, or none.)
