It was very early in the morning when a young boy ran out of his house to go to his favorite place in the entire castle. It was a place where he could see the guards on the city walls, highly equipment men who were protecting the people inside the castle, watching all around the countryside for any kind of danger. It was obvious that the young boy wants to be a castle guard, one day he made a promise to himself.
The castle was rebuilt several years ago, and since then they named it Rebirth, to represent a new hope, to symbolyse new beginning of everyone living there. Now it stood tall and strong against anyone who would want to take what is not theirs.
As always an old man was walking to the marketplace, the boy could see him every morning, but he was afraid to approach the man, because of all the stories he heard about the old man. Still curiousity got the best of him so he walked up to the man and smiled "Good morning. Off to the marketplace, do you need any help?" he said in a friendly manner, clearly just wanting to be of service. He old man looked at him, there was something strange in his eyes, it was hard to determine what kind of feelings he had inside. Old man nods his head and they both head to the marketplace.
It is then the little boy decided to ask the question, reason why he approached the man. He hesitated for a moment and then asked "You know... I heard" he tried to chose the best words to ask the question "I always wanted to ask, what actually happened that day?" The old man stopped walking for a moment, and if there was a spark in his eye, remembering all the terror that happened in his past, he did not want to say a word. "My father told me our kingdom defeated an enemy town, and you were left in the city with half of the army while the rest moved on. But we later found out you were not at the city walls, but were in the houses." the little boy continued to ask about the story. It was a story that was whispered inside the city walls, the old man is the only person that ever made it back alive, after the city revolted and all the soldiers that were in the city were gone. They usually say they are gone, noone ever explains what happens to them. The peasants revolt, take over the city, and the soldiers inside the houses... are just... gone.
"There is nothing to say" the old man replied "You should not think of what happens to those poor soldiers, its just an urban legend. Like the people that claim to have seen boats sailing on the sea. They are crazy I tell you, there will never be boats around these lands!" he yelled, his thoughts floating over different things, not wanting to talk about what happened to him actually.
The little boy turned around as he thought he heard a familiar voice. Indeed it was his father calling him, he looked back at the old man, shrugged as again he will not find out what actually happens to the soldiers that stay in homes during a revolt. He sighed slightly and ran back to his father.
