17:23:52 Nov 25th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

Question: Seriously, what's the limit on building? You can build as much as you want as long as you have the land in your first city?
Answer: As many as you can pack in. But you might want to remember, size = quality. Of course, try to make your city easy to defend as well. You know, put Defenses between Houses and stuff. It really helps during an attack in case the walls are not enough.

Double post, but this is a momentous event...

EPIC SCENARIO!
Here we go...

A wave of bandit activity has struck the land! All your home towns are under attack by large bandit groups (but less than 100), attempting to raid your supplies! Draw the defense plans, and prepare for a beating...you have 24 hours.

21:20:13 Nov 25th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Killer watched his city grow. Not much was done in te way of economy, but there was news of many bandits roaming the lands, destroying and stealing. Well, decided Killer, they wouldn't quickly forget their visit to this town. A temple was built, in honour of the god Relic, a god of peace and prosperity.
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/4129/asdghjklvv1.png
And for fear of the bandits, defences were built left, right and centre. A few more farms were built, the economy would not be ignored. And the soldiers were sent to their posts, though most were fairly confident that the walls would hold.

Ten men here also means on the wall.

23:13:36 Nov 25th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

"Sir, sir!"

Arvious woke up oneday to see his adviser wake him up.

"Five more minutes,"  Arvious said, but the adviser kept shaking.

"Sir, bandit activity has been spotter near the mountains.  Our spy reports say that they have around 100 people!"

"Wai- dammit!  I will get ready and then I will have a talk with my people."

Arvious put a shirt on and ran out into the council.  People were watching Arvious, something he didn't like.

"Uh...  Whomever wishs to join the military, I will have a piece of paper right here.  Only 50 people can join at this time.  That is all."

Arvious walked into a room where he could talk with the council members in private.

"Okay, stall the construction of Geran Fortress, because we need to gather our defenses.  I want 25 men patrolling our city perimiters at all times, stationed at walls.  If bandits are spotted heading this way, build defenses down the roads, the big defenses near the vault, stockpile, and here."

Arvious walked out of the town hall to find that 25 people had already signed up to be soldiers.

"That takes care of the perimeter guards," he muttered.

***

Arvious stood in the temple alone, silently praying to ZeTa for guidence in this battle.  When he was finished, he began to walk to the door when he hears a noise, and he feels his body moving away.

Pop.

Arvious wakes up on a field.  He was standing on a strange plant that covered every bit of land he saw.  He gets up and looks around to see a birght light coming from the sky.

"Hello again."

"ZeTa..."  Arvious bows to ZeTa, but a force picks him back up.

"I wish not to be treated as a King, but to be treated as a man who helps,"  ZeTa said.  "You wish for guidence, I can give you none.  Your first battle must be won by you and you only.  Only through experience do we grow wiser.

The god paused for a moment, and then Arvious thought he heard a sigh.

"I hate to see my world destroyed by war and battles, but as most men of your age, war is the only solution to most conflicts."

Then, something fell on the ground, and Arvious jumped around.

"But, while not guidence, I can give you a gift."

The fallen tree in front of him began to twist and twirl until it turned into a beautiful bow, and on the ground, flowers turned into arrows.  Arvious plucked them out of the ground and picked up his bow.

"Thank you ZeTa,"  Arvious said.

Pop.

Arvious wakes up to find a priest poking him in the face.  Apparently, he had been drooling on the carpet.

23:20:19 Nov 25th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

18:29:37 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

Arvious stood at the gates of Port Traven with 50 of his swordsman.  25 archers were patrolling the grounds, and the remaining 50 were behind the defences near the town hall.  The day was calm, the calm before the storm.  His spy reports show that the bandits were closing in, ready to attack at any moment.  But they would find a town prepared for war to drive the bandits away.

19:25:48 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

Shadowpeak Port Battle!

Attacker's Plan
Defender's Plan

Results:
After taking heavy casualties attacking a part of the wall, the bandits went through and took over the quarries (reduced stone income today), before attacking and burning 12 houses. They then attempted to take two defenses near the vault and stockpile, but were only just defeated.

Bandits: Dead.
Killer: 36 men lost.

Port Traven Battle!

Attackers Plan
Defenders Plan:
The gates of Port Traven: 50 swordsman.  25 archers were patrolling the grounds, and the remaining 50 were behind the defences near the town hall.

Results:
The bandits easily broke down a section of undefended wall before charging towards the city proper. a small group captured the mines with minor losses (no gold/diamond income today) and a smaller group tried to burn the temple, severely damaging it and rendering it useless before the priests managed to rout them. The majority of the force set fire to the housing district, within which 22 houses were burned to the ground. At this point they overwhelmed the archers that converged on them within the burning housing district. The bandits then tried to take the town hall's defenses, but were routed with moderate casualties on the defending size. A group of bandits ran away, but were killed by the defenders at the gate, who were horribly mispositioned.

Bandits: Dead.
Arvious: 40 men lost.

The Spire Battle

No defenses in place.

Result: The bandits arrived in a surprise attack, and killed most of the towns men while making off with all the resources and burning the marketplace.

Bandits: Almost all escaped.
Hirgon: 94 men lost. All resources stolen.

You can roleplay your town's battle if you want. I might just give you a bonus if it's brilliant, but the chances are slim.

20:26:48 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

[[I just want to roleplay it. XD]]

The bandit leader stood on a desert patch close by Port Traven.  His face was shrouded by a black mask, and wore grey robes.  His iron blades were in both his hands, and his bandits were all ready to charge.

"Lackey,"  the leader said.  "Do we still have that catapult we stole?"

"Yes."

***

Arvious stood at the front line of soldiers, bow in hand, arrow drawn.  His soldier were ready to defend the town they loved, and die for it.  Defenses were made at the most important area, and the gates.  The mines had all of today's work taken to the stockpile and the town was evacuated.  The temple stood baren except for the priests that demanded to stay behind.  Surprisingly, the head priest could fare well with a broadsword.

"Lord ZeTa almighty,"  Arvious said.  "Please give us the strength to hold off the bandit forces.  Give us the knowledge to defeat the attackers.  In the name of ZeTa."

CRASH!

Arvious and his troops fell back, and they saw a major section of the wall collapse under some type of fire.  Arvious ran over and took a look on the horizon.

"Is that... is that a catapult!?"  Arvious yelled.

CRASH!

Another catapult projectile fired at the wall, and hurtling rock came crashing towards Arvious.  The man ran, and barely made it out in time to see bandits running into the town.

"Should've put more damn defenses here," he muttered.  "Attack!"

His archers turned around and aimmed at the attackers.  When they fired, every bandit pulled their shields up and blocked the arrows.  The archers ran after the attackers, and Arvious ran to the town hall, where the bandits would ultimately strike.

"Quick, get ready!"  Arvious yelled at the people in the defenses.  The soldiers waited there for a long time until they saw bandits strike in the housing area.

"All remaining archers, fire!"  His archers fired at the bandits but to dismay, it only killed a few of them.  Arvious shot at the bandits, and had better success at it than his soldiers.

The bandits set fire to the housing district and moved on to the town hall.  The bandits attacked, attacking anyone they saw.  They hacked and slashed while Arvious's forces fired arrow after arrow.  Bandit after bandit fell to the oncoming arrows, and after losing half of their remaining men, they began to retreat.

"Follow them!"  Arvious yelled.  The defenders ran after the bandits, who were almost to the gates when the 50 men positioned there ran from the two sides and attacked the bandits.  Almost all the bandits died when the two forces collided with the remianing bandits, and Arvious stood over the bandit leader with a sword pointed at the man's heart.

"Care to follow me?"

20:38:48 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Killer:

This calls for an absolutely magnificent battle thingy. [It's *beep*, I know]

The bandits came from the north, probably after destroying Wold's Village or whatever it was called. Killer had not bothered to concern himself too much with foreign affairs. They were less than a hundred, but trained in the arts of war. They fought ruthlessly(for none of the soldiers were named Ruth) and managed to break the wall and get through to attack. They took over a few of the quarries, then foolishly went towards the vault and stockpile, burning houses as they went. Even with their few numbers, they battled ferociously, almost taking the defences, and would have, had Killer not come to the fray. He told the troops to circle the bandits, and give them no chance to escape. They surged as one, swords in front, stabbing the majority of the bandits down at the first blow.
But they had not expected one of the bandits to be one of the most legendary warriors in the length of the world, Krak'tur. His weapon of his choice, a battle-axe, a sturdy oaken staff, with a steel blade, and it was said, when Krak'tur killed his opponent, he could see his heart in the final seconds of his life, still inside his body, in that omen of death, the axe. The blade bit many of the defenders, and they fell back, leaving Krak'tur standing on his own beside his dead companions. Killer alone faced the man, the demon fighter of hell. They circled, and Krak'tur, gauging the time was right, swung his axe, it whistling in tune with the crows settling down to sleep. Kiler threw himself back, and was at the mercy of Krak'tur. He stood over his foe, and as the axe made its final arc, he was stabbed in the back. Killer pushed the axe aside. He stood up, and gave the man who killed Krak'tur, the axe. Killer laughed with relief, and strode away. He whispered aside to the overseer of the new religion, Relicism, "Give that man the highest job you can in the temple thing, if he so wishes it." He walked on towards his modest home.

21:00:23 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Hirgon:

[[Can you give me a map that includes mountains so I can complete my mines and finish the wall?]]

....in aftermath of the battle:

"Hirgon!  We need to build up our wall, so that this never happens again."

"Yes, we had plans to.  That blasted Geoffrey ruined them everytime construction began, though."

"Hm, something should be done about that."

"Sacrifice him on the blood altar!"

"We don't have a blood altar..."

"Well, then we'll build one!"

"We can't afford one, and don't have the manpower."

"...fine, we'll build a shrine, and use it as a blood altar.  But first, the walls, and the mines."

"I'll get right on it.  What about our army?"

"We build straw men, and set them up all around our borders.  Until we have a large enough force again, half a dozen peasants will join the patrols.  Half the army will be on patrol at all times, 'round the borders, watching both towards land and towards the sea.  Oh, and in the meantime, I have bigger plans for Geoffrey."

"Which are?"

"We send him to Watch Village, and try to recruit the bandits."

21:10:24 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

Who is Geoffrey?

21:43:04 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Hirgon:

[[Good question.]]

....flashback....

The Fisher King named Hirgon his heir on the spot, and died of pneumonia within a week, and thus Hirgon became ruler of the Spire.

Not all of the village supported his rise to power, however; a faction worked openly towards his demise.  Their leader was one Geoffrey, the charismatic head of the town council.  Because the previous ruler of the town was half-mad, Geoffrey was effectively lord of the Spire, until Hirgon washed in from the sea and took control within three weeks.  There was an assination attempt, which the would-be assassin bungled when he stepped on the prongs of the pitchfork in Hirgon's room and got whacked in the face.  This effectively alienated over half of Geoffrey's supporters, who saw good reasons to keep a king even if they did reduce him to a figurehead.  But he still has a lot of power in the village, and continues to oppose Hirgon, despite Hirgon's efforts at reconciling their differences.

[[It's all written down somewhere, I just can't find it, and haven't posted anything 'cause I keep forgetting...]]

22:06:47 Nov 26th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

With the threat of attacks over for the moment, Arvious has been able to concentrate on building the fortress town.

HERE!

Also, Arvious has built onto several buildings in Port Traven and rebuilt the temple.  He also built a small wall to hold off people from the temple.  The major wall reconstruction project has started also.

HERE it is again...

[[He said major city, didn't he?]]

01:53:11 Nov 27th 08 - Mr. Arvious VIII:

Arvious stood at the docks of Port Traven, looking upon the first naval vessel ever assembled.  It was rather small, but it looked strong and seaworthy.  They used the last of their wood resources they had when they founded t his fine city.  The flag had the insignia of Port Traven on it, a golden cross on a shield.  The ship was named The Sandstorm.

"So, this marks the beginning of sea trade and naval power, am I correct?"

"Yes," the commander of troops at Port Traven replied.  "Perhaps you can take this ship to found treaties over seas?"

"That sounds like a good idea,"  Arvious said.  "Put Leon Yurian in charge of this ship and tell him to find out about other lands and make treaties."

23:55:55 Nov 27th 08 - Mr. Killer:

http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/205/bsdghjklaq1.png

The new town was built quickly, and most agreed that though a bit over the top, it would be perfect for training troops, though some said it was higgeldy-piggeldy, and probably wouldn't even provide good defence. Killer decided to demote the architect of the town, making a note to get a better one some stage in the future. It would be the main area of worship, they may as well have it in a secure place. Killer looked at the beginnings of the "Book of Relic"

"The four suggestions:
1. It would be advisable not to make false promises.
2. Most agree against killing without cause.
3. If you wish to be respected, the best idea is to respect others.
4. Don't steal, it could come out the worse for you in the future."

Killer shook his head wearily. They may as well have this book, much good it may do them. He wondered what he was paying them for, and whether they would not be better out in the fields. He read on...

"In the beginning, there were fields. The great Relic had decided it would be so, and so it was. Strange animals lived in these fields, evolving over time into the ones we know today. Then the humans came. They saw these fields marked out in an orderly fashion, and unlike the ignorant beasts of the earth, they saw that this was the work of Relic. They sowed and reaped the land, precious crops growing quickly, feeding hungry families. When drought came, they struggled by with the food they had kept, but Relic had been displeased with their bickering, which had gradually grown into wars, and so the drought lasted longer than ever expected. The people starved, and begged forgiveness. Relic relented, and crops grew once more, the rivers flowed and the lakes flooded the land with much needed minerals."
The book slipped from Killer's hands, and he fell asleep.

They are all armed with long blades and strange crossbow-like weapons. They do not speak, no break in the armor is visible. The helmets do not even have eye-slits.

What now?

When players start fighting each other, don't have them post the battle-plans in here because the opponent then could use them. Instead have them send the BP's to you (Demonsul) and when you tell the results post the BP's.

19:42:42 Nov 30th 08 - Mr. Adrastos:

Port Mirage

It's a dark and stormy night, the people of Aglansdale have never seen such a terrifying spectecle. The wind was howling as if Angmar himself screaming at the sea. The waves were two hundred feet high hitting the walls with a fury like no other. The lightning seemed to be to be everywhere. The thunder was so loud that no one could hear himself think.

Yet this storm could not stop the annual fight for leadership of the town. Thier current King took up post just lase year, he was well built and very cunning. He stood there waiting for a challanger, and for a while it seemed that no one would come forth and the village woul have to go home disappointed.

As the King turned back, satisfied with his luck, the people heard the loudest crack of thunder and saw the brightest lightning any of them have ever seen or ever will see again. One and all were temporarily blinded, and when they could see again they saw a terrible creater standing a mere ten feet away from the King.

The people soon realized that this creature was in fact a man, but what a man they saw. His armor was rusted, his shield's emblem could not be recognized, and yet there was something about him. The man said something, but no one heard him. The king, as young as he was, took this as a challange and quickly went the ten feet to fight the challanger.

The King was over anxious and charged forth like a bull, all his life he relied on his strenght to win his battles, but it would not be enough for this one. The challanger quickly side stepped, whipped out his sword, and as the King was going past he stabbed him in the back. The hit was so powerful that it went through the King's armor and into his heart........killing him instantly.

As all the villagers bowed down to the new King the storm suddenly stopped and light broke through the clouds. The sunlight shone on the new King, and the new King alone. As people finally rose they saw something strange, even though this man was ragged and his armor in a terrible state his sword was shining. It was clean and beautiful, even the blood from the old King was gone already, as if it cleaned itself. Suddenly all of the villagers realized that this was no common man, but that this man was the son of a God.

*Without warning the new King began speaking, even though he didn't even raise his voice everyone understood him perfectly. Everyone felt as if he was speaking to them as individuals, as if they and the new King where the only ones talking. All the people grew quite and listened to the new King as if his words were food, and they have been starving for their whole life*

"People of Aglansdale I am your new King. I come here to bring a new age to these lands, to bring civilization and glory. I bring a new religion to you, from a God so powerful he sent his own son to these lands. I will tell you about this religion now, and about myself later. This religion has 6 commandments, and all of you shall follow them.
1. The weak shall not lead, only the strong.
2. All men are brothers, and all women are sisters, we are one.
3. No stealing shall accure in these lands.
4. Killing of one's brother or sister will not be permitted.
5. Hard work equals success.
6. You are devoted to your Empire, and shall do only good to it.
*All the villagers heard these commandments and suddenly knew they would follow them no matter what. They knew that thier new King's name was Adrastos and that their new Religion was named Adrastonism.

The town was re-named Port Mirage because with Adrastos came a heavy fog, and only the rightful could see through it.

I want the new town on the red dot

NOTE: The Heavey Red Lines are the Walls, the pink line is a bridge, the brown line along the wall is a gate.

OH SHOOT SORRY
This game is really hard to update. You (probably) wouldn't understand it.
I CANT KEEP RUNNING IT! I can't cope!

So, unless someone else wants to run it, I officially declare this thread closed.

Explain how it works and I'll give it a try. -_-

23:14:14 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Killer:

It was very good, Demonsul, I'll look forward to any games you might do in the future. I won't try to run it, I'd make a mockery of the game and completely mess it up. Good luck Arvious, if he explains it to you.
