Delran sends 40 infantry and 4 ranged cavalry to raid caravans under 30 men strength at day or under 40 at night. 51 infantry are sent to raid caravans around 35 men at day or around 40 at night. The parties are sent in Verthal Forest. Ranged Cavalry is equipped with horses, axes and crossbows.
|
22:16:33 Dec 10th 08 - Mr. Killer:
Argh... You did not miss a day. Other people took an extra day, which I ignored, at least for today, or at least I hope so...
No, you don't lose the weapons unless your whole army dies, or most of them. I'll say if you do. Delran, unless those are throwing axes, ranged cavalry can't equip them(I know they technically could, but I don't want you to have a single type of troop, there'd be no real strategy in this otherwise). Weapons and troops that can equip them are on the first page.
|
22:25:49 Dec 10th 08 - Mr. Delran:
[You said that technically troops can be equipped with 2 weapons.]
|
22:26:51 Dec 10th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:
[Yes, but he also said only infantry could use axes. Cavalry, therefore, cant.]
|
22:26:55 Dec 10th 08 - Mr. Killer:
And also, what type of crossbows are those?
When I said earlier that each type of troops can equip two different types of weapon, I did not mean each troop, I meant... this for example. I have 200 iron axes, 200 steel short swords and 100 mithril pikes. I have 500 infantry. I cannot equip all these infantry, because that would be 3 types of weapons for that type of troop. I could have 200 iron axes and 200 steel short swords, or 100 mithril pikes and 200 steel short swords, etc. Each troop can equip 1 weapon, along with a shield for infantry and cavalry and armour for the all except mages and healers.

Day: 3 Villages/towns/cities: 1 Village Gold earned a day: 100 Gold: = 60
Max trained per day: 10 Troops: 120 Infantry (trained 10 infantry)
Weapons: 100 Bronze Axes Armour: none Mounts: none
Village Forces:
That makes 35 infantry in the village, of which 20 are armed with long wooden sticks. For now, the 20 with sticks undergo training in desert survival tactics on the edge of the nearby desert, with a focus on hiding-in-plain sight (Fremen-style, but for now they do not venture more than two hundred meters into the desert). The villagers build large drums in order to summon these warriors from the outskirts of the desert in case the village is attacked.
[[Killer, if my village is not close enough to the desert for this, let me know and I'll stop. If it won't bring any benefits, let me know that as well, and I'll stop.]]
Expeditionary Forces:
The force at the first village awaits the return of the two scouts, and both expeditionary forces lie in wait for caravans. The rest of the infantry is split as follows (with no movement from the previous day, because the Desert Elves have not yet began their days as bandits, and therefore have no knowledge of the dangers of small forces):
-At the village due west, 10 infantry are prepared to ambush caravans to the east of the village, provided they are small enough. Two scouts are sent in towards the village from the force to the west, and 28 infantry lie in wait for caravans on the western side.
-Near the next village to the west, 45 infantry are set up to ambush caravans.
|
22:43:50 Dec 10th 08 - Mr. Delran:
[Crossbows that cost 50 gold. And when you said that we can equip troops with weapons, I thought that I can give them armor, shields, lances and swords for example.]

-4 Archers+ 2 Infantry sent to Army A, they are to avoid ANY contact with merchants, mercenaries, etc. Army A: 47 Moved between Derront and the port city to Ambush merchants, do not ambush any force too great to handle. Army B: 35 Yes, Ambush the 32 sea merchants during the night. Surround the camp and attack them (slay the guards quitely first if at all possible, if not then just attack yelling and screaming....we are Trolls after all), if they are moving out before nightfall then ambush them just as they are leaving. -10 at home to protect the village.

15:47:04 Dec 11th 08 - Prince Validus Septim II:
[[OOC: Fine, I'll post my standing orders in each and every post! :-( ]]

-Septim sends two groups of twenty five out to seek and destroy traders. Their orders are to sneak into the camp and kill the soldiers and the traders in their sleep rather than fight them in the day. -Septim has the other 75 men (70 infantry, 5 archers) guard the village against any attacks that may come.

Demonsul trains infantry to cover his losses, and sends them out to replace the men lost in the field. He orders that they are not to attack the bandits and merchants, and instead to continue ambushing small merchant caravans.
- 8 Infantry Trained (replace losses)
- Don't join the Bandit-Merchant battle
- Continue with current groups
|
19:35:50 Dec 11th 08 - Mr. Killer:
Delran, 4 infantry were
killed in the first army(1 group, 17 merchants), and 4 in the second(1
group, 16 merchants). You got 250 gold, a pony and three horses.
Adrastos(No, you cannot put the infantry on the pony and horse),
5 infantry lost in the first army(Derront/port town)(1 group, 21
merchants), 25 infantry lost from yesterday, 3 more today. (1 group, 16
merchants). The merchants were in fact well prepared, having heard
rumours about ferocious trolls circling the mountains, attacking
merchants. At the first sign of momvement, they reached their
weapons(most with an axe or some such sort of weapon, a few with
swords), but didn't manage to save their lives, but took many down with
them. There was however, plenty of gold. You got 790 gold and one
horse(this includes the attack on the merchants yesterday...).
Electric, (*Cough*,
hypocrite. You lose two of those troops you trained, and get your gold
back) the first army(north) encounter no merchants, but find a pack of
horses wandering around aimlessly. The second army(south) loses 9
infantry(2 groups, 18 merchants, 17 merchants). An scout of five men
appeared near the city, four were killed, but the last one got away. It
is unsure who these scouts were. You got 230 gold and 25 horses.
Sinthoras, (I suppose
so, best have some sort of a name for them villages, and yes, a one day
march), 7 infantry were lost(lost/killed, same thing) (east)(1 group,
28 merchants). You got 170 gold and three ponies.
Demonsul, 5 infantry were
lost in the first army(1 group, 21 merchants) and 8 in the second(1
group, 26 merchants). You got 370 gold and three horses.
Dethos,(hello?) 4 infantry
were lost in the first army(1 group, 13 merchants) and 3 infantry in
the second(1 group, 16 merchants). You got 310 gold, and two horses.
Septim,
(Did you even read my last post? You've got an army of twenty infantry
standing around your walls. Also, your troops can't magic places, I've
unfortunately placed them elsewhere, so they'll travel back in a day.
For the time being, the enemy army is waiting outside your gates
patiently) your armies will take a day to travel. For the time being,
you get two hundred gold from treasure dug up from the ground.
Gilth,
the wargs ripped through the ranks of the soldiers, oblitering everyone
in their path. With just ten wargs killed, eighty infantry were dead.
The sound of galloping hooves was heard, and arrows flew through the
air, steel was flashed, and the wargs were decapitated. The warg
hunters had rescued only seven men, picked up the skulls and fled off
to the east. The infantry however, had salvaged six skulls, 1,800 gold
worth. You got six skulls, nothing else. You also have to take the skulls to the nearest city to get the gold(Derront).
Hirgon,
(no, "training" troops after they have been trained from peasants will
bring no benefits(whatever about anything else, trying to keep track of
this would be impossible). First army(west of village), four infantry were lost(1 group, 19 merchants). Second army are still travelling( to the next village), and the scouts have been killed, their heads sent back along with two hundred gold by a scout from the village, who quickly disappeared from sight. You got three hundred gold and three camels.

I think i've done it right. I'll send 5 Infantry to each army they take 1 lance ,25 longswords and 24 pikes to army one and 1 lance, 24 longswords and 23 pikes to army two

22:33:52 Dec 11th 08 - Sir Gilth:
Gilth the Orc
[Err, did I lose 80 men or 90? you said they killed 80, but you also said the hunters saved 7, so I'm a bit confused. I guess I underestimated a large wolves strength.]
Name/Race: Gilth, Orc Villages/towns/cities: 1 Village Gold earned a day: 100g Gold: 300-50=250 gold Max trained per day: 10 Troops: 17/7 Infantry 10 Infantry Weapons: 100 iron short swords 100 Willow pole-axes Armour: 100 steel bucklers Mounts: 2 horses Quest items: 6 Warg skulls (1800 gold in Derront)
The warg troops was stronger then expected, way stronger. The first charge of the ferocious beasts completely blew away all defending warriors. 27 men died when they got run over, then the wargs started ripping of limbs from every warrior they could reach, by the time Gilth's warriors killed 1 warg, another 14 men were lost. The huge losses made the orcs bloodlusty, they didn't fear death, they would love to die, if they could take one of these wargs with them in the grave. The Orc troops still suffered many losses, every warg killed meant at least 6 more orcish troops that were slaughtered by their claws and jaws. [80 Orcs, 6 wargs killed]
Suddenly, the sound of hooves, arrows sailing through the air, every single one of them hitting the target. 7 wargs were killed, all with several arrows in their necks. The others immediately recognised the danger and fled.
The warg hunters approached the remains of the small orcish raiding troop. "Your losses are high", their leader said. "You deserve to keep the skulls from those monsters you were able to slay". "Next time, try using those carts you have with you, and make some fire, but the wisest thing may be to just flee in all directions."
The warg hunters continued their pursuit and the Orcs were left to clean up the mess.
- 10 infantry arrive at the horror site, they help making a mass grave for their fallen brothers.
- After that, all 27/17 warriors return to village A with the warg skulls.
- Trained 10 more infantry [10*5=50]
17/27 warriors returning to village A 10 warriors in village A [Is there a way to figure out how strong an enemy is? I really thought the strongest infantry in the game could take on a large wolf 3 to 1. Not complaining, just don't want to make a mistake like this one again]

Village Forces:
(A): The crack-desert force's training ceases. There are now 44 infantry in the village, all of whom are armed with iron longswords. 19 of these troops are sent along with the healer to reinforce the troops at the next village (with orders to plunder any small caravans they see along the way if feasible), leaving 25 to defend the village.
Expeditionary Forces:
(A): "Camels! These beasts would be useful for desert cavalry. We should consider training some as soon as we can return these camels to the village, but for now, we plunder!"
The 10 troops to the east of the first village move to the west, because the elves have begun to see that small bands are impractical at the edge of the desert. With yesterday's losses, this band numbers 34 infantry armed with bronze axes, soon to be joined by 19 infantry armed with iron longswords and 1 healer.
(B) Near the next village to the west, 45 infantry arrive at their final destination and lie in wait for caravans....

originally written down ninty three, forgot to change seven to twenty.
No, there's no real way to estimate an enemy's strength, but wargs are
ferocious(even more so against cavalry, at least horses or the like),
and short swords aren't all that useful against them, they're very
quick and though short swords are useful for stabbing(which isn't all to useful against wargs, unless in the right spot) and slashing(which is fairly decent against wargs, maybe there's better weapons for this against wargs, but still fairly good, but the troops are too slow) the wargs managed to kill a lot of orcs to each one, they pounced on the troops, practically crushing them, then went for the throat, and the troops had no protection other than their shields, which were rendered useless as the wargs pounced on them. Also, yes, you can sell your weapons, but only for a fifth of the price(won't have any decimals and not too much back, after all, they are dented and scratched)

19:05:13 Dec 13th 08 - Sir Gilth:
Name/Race: Gilth, Orc Villages/towns/cities: 1 Village Gold earned a day: 100g Gold: 0 gold Max trained per day: 10 Troops: 47 infantry on the move to Derront with the warg skulls Weapons: 100 iron short swords 100 willow pole-axes Armour: 100 steel bucklers 100 iron chainmails Mounts: 2 horses Quest items: 6 Warg skulls (1800 gold in Derront)
Gilth sends out his 47 warriors to Derront with the warg skulls, hoping to get the reward as promised. He then issues that there will be 80 hours of mourning in which there will only be served meat. 1 hour for every fallen soldier. The 47 warriors all wear brand new iron chainmail.
- 100 iron chainmail bought 3*100=300
- 10 infantry recruited 10*5=50
- 25 men with Iron chainmails, steel buckler and iron shor swords
- 22 men with Iron chainmails and willow poleaxes (figured a poleaxe and a buckler don't go together that well).
Gilth also ordered the men to always look out for small tradecaravans when they travelled. If they could outnumber them 2 to 1 and use a surprise attack, they would have to assault them.

19:51:59 Dec 13th 08 - Mr. Hirgon:
Name/Race: Hirgon, Elves
Day: 5 Villages/towns/cities: 1 Village Gold earned a day: 100 Gold: = 605 - 200 - 150 - 100 = 155
Max trained per day: 10 Troops:
25 Infantry (Iron Longswords/Chainmail)
19 Infantry (Iron Longswords)
74 Infantry (Bronze Axes)
10 Archers (Yew Shortbows/Chainmail) (trained)
1 Healer
Weapons: (see troops)
26 Bronze Axes,
56 Iron Longswords
90 Yew Shortbows (bought)
Armour: (see troops)
65 Chainmail (bought) Mounts: 3 camels, 1 pony
Village Forces:
(A): Five newly-trained archers and five infantry travel towards the first group of marauders, leaving behind 20 infantry and 5 archers to guard the village. This small band carries with them carts holding a total of 56 Iron Longswords and 65 pieces of Chainmail with which to equip the expeditionary forces. Their orders are to stay hidden and avoid anyone along the way, as the re-equipment of the expeditionary troops is a priority.
Expeditionary Forces:
(A): 53 infantry (19 longswords, 34 bronze axes) set up ambush at the village. A single healer accompanies these troops.
(B) 40 infantry (bronze axes) make contact with a well-guarded caravan at the next village. After careful contemplation that takes a grand total of 2.5 seconds, the commanding officer issues the orders:
"We rejoin our fellow warriors at the first village at once. We are unarmoured, and carry only axes, which are all but useless against cavalry."
"But sir, we could wait till nightfall and sneak up on the merchants while they sleep!" "Aye, at the very least try to take a few camels back with us. Are we warriors or are we cowards?"
"NO! Yes, we run today, but we do so because we have not the equipment to fight this battle. What would you have us do? Use our axes to cut branches from trees and carve them into pikes? See any trees near this desert?"
And so, the force of 40 warriors begins its day-long trek back to the first village, accompanied by a single pony.
