Nirvana Wars (Era 36)
21:31:31 Dec 3rd 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

Mcmax, as you know i would love to have fun i need to spend my time training my new members as much as possible.

21:32:03 Dec 3rd 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

AND I WAS THE FIRST ON PAGE TWO!

also sorry that you couldnt join us Deallus...

21:52:58 Dec 3rd 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

I was spending my time training members too...unfortunately one thing led to another aaaaaand....boom!

00:31:47 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Mystic:

Anyone from ZZ want to fight me 1v1? instead of your KD against me?

01:13:47 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

yeah i think that would be a better idea...

1 guy vs kd is wrong

02:09:16 Dec 4th 08 - Ms. Faketortise:

Mystic this is a team game so nope. Not like I had a choice earlier against your kd with like 6 players swamping me.

02:14:27 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Barney:

The war with FF started as Faketortise vs an entire kd.

Then before ZZ was formed I took on all of FF alone in the south as well.

So Mystic; enjoy it!

The war with Faketortise was her attacking first so stop making it sound like we were the bullies attacking one person.  You placed an armory in the middle of our core and took my main mining city, leaving me to fight Mr. Barney with no mine.  I survived by selling food and wood ;)  You had a choice alright...and you made it yourself.  We probably would not have bothered you since we were expecting a war with Hell

FF in the south was me and a first era player...and I drove you nuts, Barney.

Enjoy indeed ;)

03:58:45 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Brimestone:

As far as i know Hell was never going to war ZZ or at that time Faketortise /myself & Heavenly against FF .
Once ZZ was formed it was only natural we allign with each other again FF.

04:59:11 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

really most wars are started over suspicion and nothing else.
that is all that i will say.

05:01:33 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Well we were thinking Hell would war us because we were like the only two KDs on Nirvana.  While we were building up, Ms Faketortise came out of nowhere and built a city right in the middle of our core.  My thoughts were something along the line of "wtf is this person doing?"  I went to a party and woke up the next afternoon to find that it apparently was an armory...and I lost my main mine.  No warning at all so if anyone says anything different then they are lying through their teeth.

05:03:45 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Brimestone:

Maybe - but in my case when you have FF scouts all over your core and not moving anywhere else id say next step is armies coming to take your cities.
As for Faketortise she was closer to FF then me so id say she hit 1st before they could...

05:05:14 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Why not have scouts around the other most powerful KD in the world? It lets you know where everyone is.  We had scouts all over the world so we could figure out where we needed our defenses...but I guess the past is in the past...

05:11:17 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Barney:

Actually I never built an armory in FF's core; it was just a normal city. I was simultaneously waging 3 wars at the same time; and I thought that attacking FF would be an easy economic gain.

There were actually 4 FF members, not 2. They were essentially all focused on me; with the rest of FF focused on Faketortise and Hell. You just didn't pay attention after I killed you off ;)

05:11:58 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Brimestone:

It is the past and all we seem to be doing is arguing over the same thing, i doubt we will ever agree on who started what , so ill go back to' farming ' ... its hard trying to get Nazguls to pull farm machinery ...

05:21:08 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

I meant Faketortise made the armory in our core Barney.  ;)

But yeah...maybe we will fight alongside each other sometime...

05:50:55 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

either way

FIN

= D

05:51:27 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Pretty much...I am gonna RP for the rest of the era...and maybe next one ;)

10:30:02 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Mystic:

It's cool.  I don't mind but just realize that I started the era much later then the rest of you guys and gals.

Dude I did msg something to scientist along the lines of "hihi" No reply = I going to kill you later :P If scientist talked to me abit more hmmm i might join FF not like we are complete strangers. Anywayz past is past get over it just a game no flaming plz. FF lost due to lower than average activities and coordination. Look at who you guys recruit, you guys were nearly betrayed earlier.

20:52:01 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Scientist never replies to people's messages...he ignores them -_-;  I thought most people would figure that out...one reason I think he need*beep* over the head at times <_<  I never like that strategy of ignoring everyone...(probably because last era we got sp@mmed with so many insults against us from nub players it wasn't even fun to read them anymore)

22:47:55 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Barney:

He sure read all my messages; and replied.

But this was a fun era. I was going to fini*beep* off by experimenting with magic for the good of the VU community and posting some formulas, but since there isn't any tree on the market; and Hiroshima likes to break NAPs; that probably won't happen.

23:34:12 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

Hiroshima broke nap?

tsk tsk

Hiro did that because he was quitting VU...and if I wasn't killed off I could have sold tree as much as you wanted me to ;)

00:23:56 Dec 5th 08 - Lord Uther Pendragon:

i wish i had more tree

and i also wish some people would buy my stone.

if a member of yor kd is a mage and can cast StG then it would definately be profitable for you to buy it, its like 14 million stone.

05:55:45 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Barney:

Half of ZZ is ex-LGC; and I'm pretty sure that we can all StG; I'll probably be pumping it out like crazy in 48 hours.

Want to see what I aim for every era? This.

And I haven't even killed a single troop in the last 90 ticks.

06:05:24 Dec 5th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

:p

06:22:34 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Kurt:

Sorry busy farming ! Will try catch up with you soon enough ! ;-)

06:24:16 Dec 5th 08 - Ms. Faketortise:

Stop for a moment and think about those men and women you guys killed :P

06:36:39 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Brimestone:

I wish to state right now , that i never killed  any woman , and if FA have any in there army please remove them now ... :)

07:50:19 Dec 5th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Mystic has fought like 1/4th the battles Barney has but has like half the kills ;)

I see your kingdom builds up south of our core - are you sure you do not want to play a little :expect: :wide-open eyes with starlights twingling:.....

20:27:10 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Impeccable:

Check the top army.

Your 1v1 is on the way.

00:59:36 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Mystic:

Bah Impeccable....it's not 1v1 :) You have Barney coming from the north and you from the East. Not exactly 1v1 :) but it's fine. I know when I'm beat. It was just a matter of time.

01:42:15 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Barney:

Mystic has fought like 1/4th the battles Barney has but has like half the kills ;)

That part of the HoH is kind of broken. Obviusly kills at the start of the era don't really count as much. If I killed five 7k armies right OOP it gets discredited by the fact that someone could just siege a big city later in the era and pass me.

I clearly dominate everyone in captured cities and victories; and no matter how far I fall off of that HoH I'm still the most fearsome; yet sparing; ruler in Nivanna.

01:56:43 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Mystic:

I agree Barney, you are fearsome.

And it's a valid point that the ERA should be broken into thirds.  OOP, mid and late.  because a 5K slaughter at turn 100 is much more of a power swing than a 50K slaughter at tick 1000.

04:45:56 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Barney:

That wouldn't be a horrible concept; but it needs to be much more specific and polished up. Maybe divide the era into 100 tick intervals and have kill records on those?

I think next era I will call myself Mr. Barny the Plaguefiend, and just focus on studying all of the magic spells and deriving their formulas; and of course spreading the plague.

In setting paths past your blockers and inevitably crossing outside the map's boundaries and getting error messages; I had an epiphany. I found a great unit for judging the distance on the maps; in order to derive a formula for the affects of magic towers and magic power decay over distance. When outside of the maps boundaries it gives an error message for each of the possible 5 points on an armies movement. It provides coordinates; and thus an accurate measure of distance. Because this is a built in unit for distance; I can assume that it is incorporated into the formulas for distance and magic power. A scout moves 19 of these units per 1/5 of a tick and thus 95 units per tick; so using these units would be an incredibly viable way for players to use the formula I will soon make in order to judge their magic power at any given point because anyone can make a scout and count the ticks away from something they then multiply it by 100.

Also; using these units allows precise measurements of speed lost from army sizes.

Here is an example:

A scout can move 95 Barnys a tick (Yes, I am calling the unit Barnys; although they are probably just pixels.)

A division (20k) moves 55 Barnys a tick.
A corps (50k) moves 50 Barnys a tick.

Hopefully at this point you have established the relation here.

.000001Scout = 1-7 soldiers
1 Section = 8-11 soldiers
2 Platoon = 12-50 soldiers
3 Company = 51-299 soldiers
4 Battalion = 300-1499 soldiers
5 Regiment = 1500-3999 soldiers
6 Brigade = 4000-9999 soldiers
7 Division = 10,000-19,999 soldiers
8 Corps = 20,000-89,999 soldiers
9 Army = 90,000-199,999 soldiers
10 Group of armies = 200,000-999,999 soldiers or a merge
11 Horde = More then one million soldiers.

Here is the formula for army speed, unit measured in Barnys:

95 - (Army size number x 5)

05:47:09 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Mystic:

Very interesting and I think the Barney Scale is aptly names.

Might I suggest that you use shades of Purple in your guide instead of red?

06:58:17 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Barney:

Lol, I'll get on that. I;m trying to compile a very large guide about everything technical in VU; and this is a good start.

Barnys will become the standard unit of VU distance., not pixels. Oh yeah, pretentious.

07:23:57 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

As long as we don't run into Barney again... ;)

08:46:08 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Nordmann:

The armies could have speed ratings too, for example a Company could move at 12 kilobarneys per hour...or 12kbph.

09:00:14 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Nordmann:

Ahh just noticed you'd already got the Barneys per hour thing covered. I can sense these new metrics will become a way of life here.

09:07:39 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. The Bigger Loser:

Come back Mystic!!! We miss you :(

09:21:39 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Barney:

I'm messing around with a magic power/distance formula now; and it has some pretty weird properties; especially when you throw in enemy magic power.

It's a shame that I didn't just choose Elf.

09:47:44 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Barney:

Here's something I should have know considering how many era's I've been in the game:

I found that when you have more magic power then your targets magic defense to a certain degree; then their magic defense actually doesn't reduce your magic power at all. I really should have know that by now...

Oh, and the Barny unit is working really well as a distance unit. You get EXACTLY 100% of your magic power at 50 Barnys; but I'm still going to have to play around with this a bit.

I'm done *beep*ming my own thread with non-Nirvanna related stuff. I'm going to try to get formulas for the following by the end of next era; send me a message in-game if you have any more formulas you might want me to gather up.

Magic power over distance
Enemy magic defense's roll
Percentage of spell success' with magic power
MU death/injury rate of various spells
Death/injuries of armies in skirmishes; and military sciences' roll
Peasant growth rate; affect of medical science and taverns, jobs ect.
Morale of cities after attacks
Extensive look into plague
Enemy losses on RoF
Specific look into ALL spells
Potential enemy resource gains from capturing a city
Rate of Wreckage decay
How EXACTLY troop and building costs scale with total land

Obviously this list is really incomplete; I WANT you all to send me messages with things to test. I've played this game for over 16 eras and I still don't know the exact formulas... that's just shameful. I'll make a thread for the formulas next era and update it a lot. Until then, this thread needs more war discussion =)

Hell; how is the FA war going?
What's PF up to?
Any bets on how many ticks FF has left? I'm gonna guess... 60 tops.

16:01:41 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Mcmax:

What PF is up to?

I hope they attack RoC - then we have an excuse.

Not that we need one as we do not have any deals, but it looks better that the smaller one hits first.....

17:02:53 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Brimestone:

How is the FA war going ?

Pretty even 1 city lost each so far and Wolfenstein still has a formidable city in Wolf hate that is a worry.

17:12:39 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Primate Death:

They still a KD?

07:20:42 Dec 7th 08 - Mr. Mcmax:

It is with much pleassure I notice, that RoC have been invited into this Hell/FA conflict by FA's mr. Xelos.

13:28:47 Dec 7th 08 - Mr. Mcmax:

To make this last 1½ week in Nirvana more exiting, I hereby allow all RoC-members to lay siege on PF cities from VU-day 1000, Nirvana timezone.

This is of course preparation for a little war, as I do believe RoC members is better trained with practice than theoretic combat-exercises and teamwork lessons.
