but the SOUTH still rebelled against the goverment, which was right in this case

lol actually the North had a significantly larger population therefor bigger military. The north also had extensive railroads and industrialized manufacturing facilities which made it easier to supply the troops. However, the South had a more organized military as well as outstanding Generals. They also had more convictions for their reasons to fight. Needless to say it was a bloody war that either side could have won.
