Riverjumping
23:15:49 Jul 31st 07 - Mr. Mcikan:

If you don't know how to river jump, look at Dionysus ready to do it in the North of Radar!

23:23:42 Jul 31st 07 - Ms. Persephone:

Omg not again.......here we go with the riverjumping bs.....

Yeah go ahead and look everyone, he's jumping into our core, omg we're all doomed.....

and after witnessing in another thread (http://visual-utopia.com/forum.asp?forum=4&topicID=37547&replyes=39) a zeon member trying the same tactic, i find it funny how you guys keep bringing this up.....

23:26:06 Jul 31st 07 - Lord Hermes:

That is not very informative. Not everyone has vision there and not everyone is on Fantasia. Its easier to post a picture of it:

http://img70.imageshack.us/my.php?image=riverjumpgk7.png

See? Now everyone can learn from it. Not only those with vision on Fantasia.

23:27:37 Jul 31st 07 - Mr. Cros:

But didn't. Did they?
I'm starting to believe that Zeta is letting it not because he's too dumb fix that bug..

23:27:42 Jul 31st 07 - Sir Dionysus:

HaHa, Look out Carnage, I am going to jump into your core and take over your cities just like Condihino.  Oh wait, already been done.  Guess I will pass up on that.

23:31:20 Jul 31st 07 - Sir Dionysus:

And by the way, don't forget to mention that I am jumping to take care of any army that snuck past a blocker that should have blocked.  I guess moving part way onto a river tile to jump is bad, but moving part way onto a river tile to pass a blocker is just good strategy.

23:32:46 Jul 31st 07 - Lord Hermes:

"I guess moving part way onto a river tile to jump is bad, but moving part way onto a river tile to pass a blocker is just good strategy."

Duh!

23:38:06 Jul 31st 07 - Mr. Ronald Rommel:

hey its not our fault that this blocker is a little misplaced. We only exploit your fault ....

00:02:31 Aug 1st 07 - Sir Dionysus:

ok.  river jump is complete.  Did someone get screenshots?  For posterity?

01:26:47 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Barny:

Riverjumping is a cheap strategy, but its been done A LOT and will keep happening, so be prepared to deal with it..

Also, are you attacking Zeon? All they do is farm.

So it makes sense you could riverjump them. All you need to do to stop riverjumping is kill a scout, but I don't think Zeon has trained enough troops this era for that.

01:35:40 Aug 1st 07 - Sir Dionysus:

I jumped back into our area, not into Zeon teritory.  Zeon snuck around a blocker that I guess did not fully block the river.

01:46:02 Aug 1st 07 - Sir Bruto Cikayson:

This era Zeon has warred Carnage, PKS, Legacy, DB, and Heaven's Veangance, and taken plunder from them all, except perhaps Carnage. (have I forgotten anyone?)  So a farming kingdom?  Not really.

04:26:20 Aug 1st 07 - Sir Helios:

Yeah it's funny they bring it up when the jump was to go back INTO Carnage area, not into Zeon/PKS/Carnage. (it's a bit disputed atm =P )

Trying to tell me KD's with huge areas don't set up common jumps in their own lands to save ticks to the other side? This really is no different.

04:36:29 Aug 1st 07 - Lord Eleutherios:

@ Rommel: So it is okay for you to move over a river tile, but not okay for 2 legitimately placed units to merge. Yes, it is totally our fault not to see that coming. And it is tit-for-tat, so we are not complaining, just still wondering why is this still an issue. (I prefer the other way round, tat-for-tit, for obvious reasons).
---
@ Cros: I thought the official religion of Zeon is ZeTaism? So it is okay to call your idol stupid......
---
ZeTaism worshiper tells Greek Gods worshiper: "I can go to my temple and scold my patron god and nothing will happen to me! Can you do that?"

Greek Gods worshiper: "Of course I can. Where is your temple?"

05:57:03 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Ronald Rommel:

@ Lord Eleutherios

Nahh i m ok with riverjumping. Its possible ..its part of the game and i would use it too. But since Zeon doctrine dictates not to use riverjumping i wont do it. If  ya got riverjumped into the core u have done something wrong ( ignored the scouts ( except for the halfers .. thats a nuisance) or build a city too close a river). These things should never happen and if yes ... well then .. the next time the kingdom should pay more attention to it.

just my 2 cents ...

Oh and with your blocker .. move away the armies defending it and we will raze it so that you can build a new one  ... i promise :-D

10:03:56 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Mijamoto Mushashi:

your blocker just doesn't block, it is in a bad position, nothing wrong about that.

10:58:27 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Penguin:

river jump !!! everyone lets riverjump ;P

15:32:33 Aug 1st 07 - Dreadlord Valarion:

Add PHI to the happy jumper list. Isnt that right zerocool? To think you would use exactly the same tactics you flamed DB for...tsk tsk

20:28:08 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Paracelzus:

LGC and Carnage realy lick river jumping. And also Phi.

20:45:00 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Dovydas:

Lol Riverjump is tactics not cheating... Delete this post...

21:02:36 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Durza The Destroyer:

If we are gonna have a list LEGACY WILL BE TOP OF IT!!

21:16:49 Aug 1st 07 - Dark Lord Finwe:

i think BoW liked to river jump too

21:22:30 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Orly:

"Mr. Durza The Destroyer

Report

8/1/2007 10:02:36 PMIf we are gonna have a list LEGACY WILL BE TOP OF IT!!"

I don't think anybody in Legacy ever denied we riverjumped, unlike 'some' kingdoms I could mention.

21:24:35 Aug 1st 07 - Mr. Helmuth Von Moltke:

LGC rarely river jumps, Durza. We did it a few times last round because PHI (our supposed "ally") blockaded us from our enemy (BoW) by inviting you to their core, then built walls between us and you as our armies approached. Otherwise we have no real use for it.

BoW, on the other hand, when it was about I recall used to river jump at least once per era. Drakos' speciality.

21:38:43 Aug 1st 07 - Dreadlord Valarion:

Letting BoW out to attack us while locking you ALLIES out, thus preventing retaliation...you vould see where that forced our hands after a few days.

Alternative would have been to simply raze your blocker, would PHI have prefered that?

02:55:02 Aug 2nd 07 - Mr. Paracelzus:

I asked the Admin, and he said that it was a tactic...

03:08:05 Aug 2nd 07 - Wolflord Karac:

BoW didnt riverjump in the same sense of the terms, never to get troops across the river, as a last resort, we would drop walls and set them up as armories, or a scout drop point, never to shift troops into an area, different, yet the same. Not saying its not bad, so lets not get too flamey everyone. I say we just solve this and set up a ferry system.....

03:37:35 Aug 2nd 07 - Mr. Brashen:

I agree with Karac.

What kind of lame as armies do we have.
Any real army would have engineers who can set up either bridges or barges to ferry the army over.
there should be a way to prep to cross a river and there should be a way to defend and stop a army crossing a river.

Hmm well river jumping works pretty much like that.
It take time to sneak in the scout and all the defending kd has to do is kill a tiny scout then the jump is stopped.
But the invisieble scouts should go away.

04:06:08 Aug 2nd 07 - Mr. Twamao:

what's the fuss with riverjumping?  i have tried mountain jumping and nobody gives a damn about it

05:19:42 Aug 2nd 07 - Sir Bruto Cikayson:

Is it possible to great wall jump?  How comes rivers get all the attention?

07:56:49 Aug 2nd 07 - Sir Fizban:

It is possible Bruto. Please take Great Wall Jumping 101 with Professor Drakos. He'll be more than happy to teach you that ineffective tactic.

Otherwise, I love Riverjumping threads. :-D

07:58:29 Aug 2nd 07 - Sir Gaius Septim:

"47 doesn't like Riverjumping threads..."

"Die thread!", said Agent 47

08:07:58 Aug 2nd 07 - Sir Fizban:

*Fizban casts fireball on Agent 47*

Die Hitman, die!

08:30:35 Aug 2nd 07 - Sir Gaius Septim:

*47 runs like hell and escapes the blast

16:28:25 Aug 4th 07 - High Lord Kland:

River jumping..

Is for pussies who need exploits to win.

17:27:17 Aug 4th 07 - Mr. Soccer:

well said kland

17:59:49 Aug 4th 07 - Sir Echion:

Sad your always the loser Kland :(

19:16:39 Aug 4th 07 - Wolflord Karac:

Loser? When has Kland lost? Appears to be doing pretty good considering how the opponents decided to fight.....

19:17:52 Aug 4th 07 - Wolflord Karac:

And fizban, great wall jumping isnt ineffective, can actually work quite well. Taken more than my fair share of cities by dropping a great wall armory in someones core.

21:32:55 Aug 4th 07 - Lord Hermes:

"Appears to be doing pretty good considering how the opponents decided to fight....."

Says the NAP-breaker.

22:08:47 Aug 4th 07 - Mr. Artartas:

What's riverjumping and how do you do it?

22:13:36 Aug 4th 07 - Lord Hermes:

Riverjumping is merging two armies that are on different sides of a river. The tactic is used to get large armies into a enemies core by trying to send scouts or smaller armies to the other side. Also its nice for fast travel. It can be combined by building a wall on the other side of the river. You can then create scouts and merge your big army to the other side to spread havoc. All you have to do is find a good spot where you can get both armies close enough for a merge.

22:15:29 Aug 4th 07 - Mr. Artartas:

Thanks.......though I don't understand why all of this commotion? I mean armies crossed rivers and stuff like that so why would it be different here.

22:19:21 Aug 4th 07 - Wolflord Karac:

NAP breaker lol! Funny, another dimwitted player. God, Carnage is so funny.

#1 kingdom, fighting a kd 35% of them, riverjumping, lol, great tactics oh honorable one......

22:20:43 Aug 4th 07 - Lord Hermes:

Its hard to defend whole rivers instead of a few points (Though its not that hard). Your not supposed to be able to do it, but Zeta acknowledged the bug and allowed the use for it. Some Kingdoms see it as a tactic and see nothing wrong in using it (Carnage for example) Some see it as bug and are of the opinion such things shouldn't be used. The commotion is due that difference

Some just whine that others use it while they do exactly the same (No need to name names here)

22:24:55 Aug 4th 07 - Lord Hermes:

@Karac: I find it a appropriate term to indicate someone that doesn't honour their own NAPs. At least we in Carnage don't break NAPs. As said in my previous post, Carnage sees nothing wrong with using such tactics. We keep to our word. That is what makes us honourable. Not a thing I can say about Red Hand.

23:09:16 Aug 4th 07 - Mr. Gothrim:

Lord Hermes, Please take the propaganda elsewhere. We're immune to Goebbels-speak. Red Hand did not break any Naps. What happened was a classic case of two kd's with a Nap ending up on opposing sides of a much bigger war involving many others. We'd also napped Jester as well as Falcons, remember? So when we started receiving messages blaming us for all and sundry, the Nap with Falcons was already broken in spirit...and not by us. What followed was the usual legal business of serving notice, etc.

I find Red Hand to be a very honorable kd, and am proud to have been invited into it for the rest of this era.

23:32:26 Aug 4th 07 - Lord Hermes:

Please. When you make a NAP then you should keep to the terms. That you NAP-ed Jesters is not my problem. You didn't keep to the NAP-terms. Thus your broke it. Simple as that.

00:01:53 Aug 5th 07 - Wolflord Karac:

Keep to the terms? To which kingdom? As was stated there was a NAP in place with two kingdoms..... so, what we keep to the NAP that benefits Carnage the most? Think not. The decision was made as a kingdom, some opposed the act, some for it, in the end, a decision was made. We are sorry that we did not ask permission from our obvious parents of Carnage. I apologize, please, ground me for a week, take away my allowance, do what ya need to, oh, yeah, go ahead, do the 'tactical' riverjumping, its ok, ive seen worse in the game.

Just do not dare to call us dishonourable when YOUR kingdom had to resort to a childish, pathetic, and oh but sorry, still 'legal' move (keep telling yourself that so you can sleep).

As you stated, Zeta admits its a bug, well when I signed up, I remember clicking a little box stating that if i found a BUG i would REPORT IT and NOT ABUSE IT...... oh, so wait, just because its a bug thats not fixed, you still abuse it, alright go ahead and do so, as i stated before Mr. Honorable......

00:05:32 Aug 5th 07 - Dark Lord Finwe:

didnt you come from BoW? which makes your views on honour and river jumping kinda pointless?
