Whats the point of Fog
16:53:18 Jun 15th 20 - Percy (Sir Percy The Hillbilly):

Alright got a quick question. On Zetamania, Realgoodloving cast Fog on a city on mine. I’ve never actually seen fog used in a fight before, so I was ready to see what happened. I had assumed it would reduce LoS of the city, effectively negating the vision provided by GTs and would leave it a tiny puddle as if I had none. However, my vision remains unchanged and actually still increases with more GTs being added. Is Fog supposed to reduce LoS of a city? If so something’s messed up. If not, what’s the point of it?

Its because you have vision from other cities.

Fog is useful only if you take an city in enemy core, being the only city there that gives you vision over the enemy core, they cast fog and your vision is gone.

That’s exactly what this was. I’ll attach screenshots to show. I had taken a single city in Pigeons “core”, and our LoS extends to include the edge of their core. Even with Fog on the city I took, I had range to the entire extended area, something that shouldn’t have been possible with Fog working as I understood it

Here is what my LoS looks like, confirming the LoS originates from the city being prepped on (look at max LoS at top and right to confirm where LoS comes from). The bottom edge of the picture is the bottom edge of the map.

This is a screencap taken showing Fog being active on the city despite having all the LoS. Seems theres a bug with Fog? I ask cause I was honestly expecting to lose all LoS I gained over here, but never did...

The Line of Sight (LoS) seem to originate from the city in the middle.

Maybe this spell should be changed so that Everything around the city loses LoS!? Instead of just the city losing LoS.

Which middle city? Invisible? He is the white banner.

There's an army name on the left side of screenshot, so there could be other towns too.

I think it would be better as a plague-like spell.

-Cast it once and it spreads to nearby towns (and ideally armies) over time.

-Maybe a little bit less aggressive than plague, or you could reduce the maximum number of ticks it lasts since it's a cheaper spell.

-If you wanted to get creative, you could have a small chance (smaller than the chance it will spread) for every town/army each tick that the fog will be lifted (cured). Might randomly get LoS back at the right time to spot that army coming towards you.

@ZeTa, the only city in view is in the bottom left corner of the screenshot (white banner with armies prepping me). All other cities are pretty far away. I took a before and after to show there was no LoS reduction even with fog active.

But having it be an area of effect rather than single target would be a great implementation!

There seem to be an error. Maybe it's with the fog squares? (does the cities have gates closed?) Will have to test this further.

17:21:36 Jun 17th 20 - Percy (Sir Percy The Hillbilly):

The gates were open, as the city was prepped before it had any walls and I built them while being prepped. I’d be more than happy to provide any other details, as I figured this was an error and noted most pertinent things involving the city.
