just wondering why cant we merge in protection it's not like it'll hurt anything if we cant cause we already cant fight in protection

actually, since you can't merge with kingdom mates any more there's no reason why you shouldn't be allowed, if its all your own troops your merging not being able to till your out of protection is just an inconvenience. When you could merge with kingdom mates then it made sense, because it stopped you merging up all your troops in one city and come out with a massive merged army the tick your OOP. but without that possibility I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed, since with your own troops you can get them all together anyway by putting them in one of your cities.
