Ms. Enigma

Lived in Era 25 and got 1 heir(s) (Enigma).

Enigma is a young half-elven girl whose origins are unknown, but hails from a village called Midy. She prefers to be called by her elven side, having a distaste for the human tonuge being quicker than the mind. Posessing elven mind and human tongue, she is smart with quick responses.

Midway during Era 25, she established her own town of Elainia, hoping to escape the horrors of her past in Midy. Supposedly losing the one she loved most in a war seven years ago, she searches the world in hopes of finding him once again, determined not to believe in his death. Unfortunately, the Apocalypse came before she had a true chance to look for him. Praying he would survive somehow, she hid herself in a cave near her village, creating a protective barrier that would sheild her from the Apocalypse's effects. Now she waits to return to the world, once again in search of her lost love.

As the beginning of Era 26 arrived, Enigma removed her protective barrier. Knowing the king who cast Armageddon would order her assasination should she be revealed as having lived during Era 25, she resolved to 'roleplay' as her own daughter. Being a half-elf and eternally young (and madly devoted to RPing), she could pull this off quite easily.

"Time to resume my search for Kana..." she whispered to herself, positive that he was alive somewhere and had escaped the Apocalypse. Gathering up ghosts of her fallen warriors, she set out to rebuild Elainia.

In her search, however, she was distressed to find there were no easily accessable wide-open spaces. She prefered to live in isolation from the rest of the world, and the Abydos kingdom decided to move in where she had planned to start her village. Not wishing to compete with a kingdom while she didn't even have a colony, she set off on a trek that would take her over ten days to reach where she now wanted to settle, if a kingdom didn't settle there first. Scouts had told her an Elf named Mitch had a colony somewhat near there, and hopefully, being an Elf, would get along with her fairly well. She could only hope to be that lucky.

Once she reached the second destination where she hoped to rebuild Elainia, she camped out for the night, resolving to begin building in the morning. She was distressed to find out when she awoke that the Luna Wolfs had moved in all around the lake! Knowing her troops would loose too much morale if she went searching for another home, and that almost all, if not all, of her peasants would either pass on or leave for one of the nearby villages, she decided to rebuild Elainia there anyway. The guild that had moved in where she had previously wanted to reside fifteen days ago had moved on before she had even reached her second destination, and she could only hope this kingdom would do the same.

Alas, her hopes were shattered. As the kingdom continued to build around Elainia, she sent out a troop of some of her best (and at the time, only) men(/women) to begin another village should Elainia fall under attack. While her troop was searching for a potential new home, a scout brought a message from Sir Denko of the Shinobi Empire, requesting that she join their ranks as a kunoichi. Seeing it as a good opprotunity, she accepted the next day.

Then, a scout from one of the village's guardtowers warned her that the day she had been fearing may be coming very soon; the next day. A man by the name of Dakarius was moving a battalion towards her village. Knowing that they would surely be killed otherwise, Enigma gathered up all but two people in the village and fled, unfortunately leaving a few of her warriors in training behind to defend the now-doomed city of Elainia. Before leaving, because she knew Dakarius planned to take over her lovely city of Elainia, she burned many of the buildings to the ground. If he was going to take her city, he'd have to work to make it worthwhile.

Luckily for her, she had made a good choice in choosing a kingdom. The Shinobi Empire she was now a part of had a NaP with the Jesters. Bringing this to Mr. Dakarius' attention, he denied it at first, but a message or two from Sir Denko set him straight, and he backed off. Believing the danger to be past, Enigma returned to her village, after trying to convince the Abydos kingdom that where she had fled to didn't mean she was trying to start a war.

Things quickly went downhill. The kingdom of Carnage began taking Shinobi Empire cities right and left. The Shinobi Empire fought back, but it seemed to be futile. Everyone was giving up (except for Enigma, she would never leave until she was forced to), and planned to restart in Zetamania.

"I won't give up, not even if they..." Enigma told herself, trailing off at the end. She didn't want to die, in truth. She couldn't continue her search for Kana if she did. With the taking over of Mokai, she now had three cities. Hopefully Carnage wouldn't take all three.

And then there were two. With her village of Elvirosa growing large enough to attract attention, A II of Mr. Take the Naked of the Carnage kingdom attacked the village. Unfortunately for the entire Shinobi Empire (though they were on the verge of giving up, anyway), he succeded in taking control of Elvirosa. Enigma became highly distressed at this fact.

"This isn't good... What if they come looking for my other villages?" Enigma muttered to herself when no one was around. If they came, the Jesters might attack them, because they were an allied kingdom with the Shinobi and were also at war with Carnage. Hopefully it would be enough to defend her.

"But what if my kingdom disbands? Then what...?" she muttered to herself. She wanted to join the Shinobi every era from now on. Once she pledged allegiance to an empire, she was loyal until the end. She didn't want to join the Jesters, but if she had to, she'd say she'd be loyal to the Jesters as long as she didn't have to actually join their kingdom. They could contact her through her messangers.

Then she began having more problems with the Jesters. Apparently the NaP between the two kingdoms wasn't listed in the Jester Empire's forum, so no one knew of the NaP unless they decided to attack her village and she told them and asked them to stop. Mr. The Gladiator plundered her city before she could get word of it, and warned him of the NaP too late. She had hoped Mr. Dakarius would have spread the word, but apparently he didn't.

And then came trouble with the Abydos kingdom. She knew she had no NaP with them, so didn't bother sending a message to Mr. Murtagah about Mokai, which he had recently stolen from her. This made her upset because she used it to train her troops, seeing as Mokai was an armory city. Now she would have to enlarge Elainia to fill what Mokai had been doing. Her luck seemed to be taking a large turn for the worse, and it seemed Mr. Murtagah was attempting to take every city in the Jesters' core that wasn't a Jester. That would mean trouble for Elainia. Again afraid of the impending doom, she left the city with her (now very small, only consisting of ten of each type of soldier she had; her select guard) battalion to erect a new city: the new Elvirosa (the previous had been destroyed when Carnage succeded taking over the Shinobi Empire's core).

Then the worst happened. Enigma lost Elainia to the Mr. Murtagah of the Abydos kingdom. Before she could even make her new city, she lost all her resources, and could do nothing. She was lowered to begging Sir Dead OR Dying to let her temporarily take over one of his villages so she could get enough gold to make one of her own. Of course, being honorable, she promised on her life to give it back when she no longer needed it, but felt her chances weren't good nonetheless.

She gave up waiting for an answer as she recieved a message from Sir Denko telling her to report to the kingdom's new core. They were planning on fusing with the Baccus Monks, and would like it if she were to join. She told Sir Dead OR Dying 'thanks anyway' (even though he never responded to her at all) and left to join her kingdommates.

One night while camping, however, Enigma and her troops were ambushed by a battalion of Lord Marche the Halfnaked. Before she could react, all fifty-one of her men and 2260 peasants were brutally slaughtered. While attempting to flee, someone (most likely the leader of the battalion) hit her hard on the back of the head, knocking her to the ground. Before she lost conciousness, she looked up and saw the face of her attacker; much too fuzzy for her to make out who it was. Her eyelids fluttered shut and she drifted into a peaceful, dreamless slumber.

As she slowly regained conciousness, she looked around and found herself in an unfamiliar city. She tried to sit up, but an enormous headache forced her back down.

"Hey, easy there. You took a pretty nasty blow, you know," a boy sitting in a chair near her cot said.

"Ugg... Who...?" Enigma tried to ask, but her headache prevented her from forming complete sentences for the time being.

"Who am I? That's a pretty good question. You see, something traumatic happened roughly seven years ago, and I forgot my name. Everyone calls me Evan, though," the boy explained.

'Seven years? But his name's supposedly Evan... Doesn't mean it's his real name. Could it be...?' Enigma thought, trying to catch a glance of the boy to see if he looked anything at all like Kana.

"Hey, you just rest for a while. I'll be back later, okay? Then I'll explain what happened. But I need to do something first," Evan said, getting up and leaving the room. Enigma, with her crippling headache, was forced to do what the boy suggested, and slept.

Enigma awoke the next morning. "Glad to see you're up. Feeling any better?" the boy from yesterday, Evan, asked.

"Yeah, I am fine now," Enigma replied, sitting up, relieved that her headache had decided to leave her alone.

"That's good. Come on, I've rounded up the ghosts of your soldiers. I'm gonna travel with you to make a new village, in return for the one my previous master's kingdom stole," Evan said, offering her his hand. Enigma looked suspiciously at his hand, and refused to take it.

"Previous master?" Enigma asked, her eyes narrowing. Something was amiss, she could tell.

The boy sighed. "Look, I said I'll explain later. Come on, please?" Evan begged, still holding out his hand.

"You are the one who attacked me, are you not? You are the one who led the battalion that killed my men, are you not? Why should I trust you?!" Enigma said loudly, practically in rage. There was no thought in her mind that this boy could possibly be Kana; Kana would never kill.

"*sigh* You're not going to come willingly, are you?" Evan asked, withdrawing his hand and using it to run his fingers through his white hair.

"No," Enigma said firmly. She didn't trust this boy at all anymore.

"Look, it's not like I wanted to do it. When you have orders, you have orders. Haven't you ever ordered your soldiers to attack anyone?" Evan asked, a pleading tone to his voice. He seemed to be looking for some way to earn forgiveness.

"Not unless I was asked to by the leader of the village. And that only happened once," Enigma explained, her voice as firm as it had been a moment ago. She wasn't going to give up, it was obvious.

"*sigh* Fine, then I'll go make a village for you, alone. But know this, I no longer have any loyalties to the Abydos kingdom. And by the way, it was me who brought you here so you wouldn't die. Thought you'd like to know," Evan said, sorrow staining the firm tone of his voice. He turned his back to her and left.

"...He brought me here...?" Enigma muttered to herself. After a moment of thinking, she stood up (and was greatful that her legs didn't cave in under her), and headed out to catch Evan before he left. She certainly wasn't going to let him plan out one of her cities. She was too stubborn to let him do that.

"Glad to see you decided to come. I wouldn't have been sure the spot I chose would be good enough," Evan said in greeting. Enigma bid farewell to Mr. Ohmilator (though she could never spell his name quite right), and she and Evan left to make her, in truth, third city.

Roughly five days later, they arrived at a place Enigma deemed fair to make a city. "Wait, Evan. This will do," she said.

"Hm... Near the mountains, eh? You had luck with that before?" Evan asked.

"Yes, the city I told you I was asked to take was placed near the mountains. I recieved much more gold and stone there than in Elainia," Enigma explained.

"Right. Oh, another thing you should know? You can't name this city any name you've named one before," Evan pointed out.

"Why?" Enigma asked.

"Even if they've been burned to the ground, they're still considered to be in existance. Creates less confusion. I recieved word Mr. Murtagah is still using Elainia, anyway," Evan explained.

"I see... I suppose I shall just leave out the first I. I shall wind up pronouncing it Elainia anyway, so what much does spelling matter?" she decided.

"Not much, I guess," Evan admitted, laughing.

There the two of them, along with fifty of Enigma's ghosts and a bunch of peasants (one of the ghosts was working as a scout at the moment), built Elania. They worked diligently to build it up while they remained in protection, and couldn't attack or be attacked. Roughly a week later, they set off again to build a city close to mountains and forest, so they could have a back-up city if needed. Enigma said it was a good idea, seeing as she had lost three cities before.

Nine days later, they reached the spot Enigma deemed worthy to build New Elvirosa, named in honor of the city she lost to Carnage. As much as she loved Elania, Enigma decided the view was prettier in New Elvirosa, so she and Evan stayed there for the time being.

"Are you sure you do not wish to return to Elania? You do not need to remain with me..." Enigma would occasionally ask him. The two had grown fairly close over the weeks, and Enigma secretly wondered if she was slowly moving on from Kana and falling in love with Evan.

"I told you, I plan to stay," Evan would always say firmly. He had so far made good of his word to stay, as well. It was when he said things like this that Enigma secretly wondered if he was falling for her.

A few hours later, they recieved orders from their kingdom to build up their armories and begin mass-training troops. As much as Enigma disliked the idea of war, she agreed with one of Evan's earlier statements. Orders were orders. So, they built more armories, in an effort to bring the cost of troops down so they could make more. Unlike most other rulers in the kingdom, Enigma was new to this 'game', and wasn't entirely sure on how to perfect her economy (until some of the other rulers in her kingdom told her, that is).

In the meantime, Enigma took a small vacation to a forest a little ways away from New Elvirosa (they had been forced to stay in Elvirosa because Elania was outside the blockers). She decided that should any of her old villagemates reappear, they should have a city to go to. Plus, Elania wasn't one for giving lumber, if you know what I mean. So, Enigma built the new village of Midy in a clearing close to the forest, and returned to New Elvirosa, where Evan was waiting patiently for her return.

Shortly after, a message arrived from Mr. Fra Gusti, the leader of her kingdom. It said to send a scout troop down to NO Where of Mr. Renzor, the troll designated to help her should she have any questions about how to run her cities (not that she would ever initiate asking questions, though). Wondering why he was asking this of them, they both agreed that if they wanted to stay in the kingdom, it was best to follow orders, so they took all but three spellweavers and two riders out of their army and did as told.

When they got to the village, a messanger from Mr. Fra Gusti was waiting for them. It said to head out to an unoccupied wall and build a blocker city there. She did as told, and returned to the village of New Elvirosa.

Then things began to get very, very bad. After a few weeks of peacefully building up her cities, Enigma and Evan recieved word that large armies from Dark Blood, Legacy, Mirror, Phi Empire, and from what Enigma could tell the Gods of Destiny, were heading in to the Baccus Monk's core with the intent on taking over. As Mr. Fra Gusti suggested, she started mass-producing Archers, Spellweavers, and Archmages, in preparation for the coming war.

Everything happened very quickly. First, troops from LDK burned and destroyed Elania to build a wall. Enigma lost over half her income with the loss of that village. Then, a few weeks later, Mirror and Legacy armies began closing in all around. Before she could react, an unseen army led by Mr. Sezymon led a midnight attack on Midy, and successfully took it over. Enigma trained troops to attempt to gain it back, but all her armies were killed before they could reach the other village.

Another night attack claimed New Elvirosa. While Enigma escaped that night, Evan did not. The few soldiers who managed to escape with their leader had to drag her away to keep her from getting captured with Evan. If they took her away, at least one would survive. It was the last time she would see him, at least during that era. They escaped to Baccus Blocker, and hoped to make a comeback of sorts down there.

Unfortunately, their comeback was short-lived. When a large Dark Blood army and a large Phi Empire army both started to head towards Baccus Blocker, all the remaining residents there left to build Last Ditch Effort, not only two days away.

While her subjects were building up LDE, Enigma left on her own to attempt to return to Midy and New Elvirosa, to see if Evan was still alive. The two of them had grown very close over the months, and Enigma felt she was as close to him as she had ever been to Kana. In fact, she began to once again believe he was Kana, and was determined to rescue him.

Baccus Blocker was destroyed, not even a few days after Enigma had left LDE. Two days later, LDE was taken, and the last of her subjects killed or enslaved. Enigma felt she had no time to mourn; she must find Evan as soon as possible. Armageddon would soon end, and she would have to go into hiding until the next era began. Unfortunately, she never got to return to New Elvirosa. As she was camped near Midy, an army from Mr. Sezymon (who knows what size) ambushed her small camp. After being cut severely several times by a sword, a warrior finally knocked her out. As she began to lose conciousness for what she feared to be the final time, she could only think one thought.

'Evan... Kana... Forgive me...'

Ms. Enigma

Lived in Era 27, got 1 heir(s) (Enigma) and was a member of guardians of destiney

((Up until the *~~~~~~*, this happened in the 239 days between when I was killed in Era 26 and restarted in Era 27.))

Enigma moaned. Her heart pounded in her ears, and her body ached all over. She tried to move, but found herself bound to a cold metal table by her wrists (which were level with her head so that her arms were bent) and ankles. Her eyes slowly fluttered open, but she could only open them halfway. Though she was awake, her mind felt hazy, as if she were drugged. She was vaguely aware of the candlelit chamber she was currently being held in.

"Tell me, miss Enigma, do you like your new accomodations?" a figure in the corner near the only door asked. He walked closer to the metal table, every step echoing in the quiet chamber. As he stepped into Enigma's line of vision, he was revealed to be a young man with silver-blue hair and bright cyan eyes with slitted pupils. He raised his right hand and softly brushed Enigma's cheek, lightly dragging his fingers from where they landed to the base of her neck, looking for the strongest sign of a pulse. Enigma moaned quietly when his hand touched the strongest point, and the man smiled slightly and narrowed his eyes just a tiny bit, memorizing the spot.

"So, are you quite comfortable with your new room?" the man asked, leaning over Enigma and holding both her wrists to the table where there were already shackles. By this time, Enigma's mind had begun to clear, and she had some idea of what he was doing. She turned her head so it wasn't facing him anymore, and tried to struggle out of his grip.

((This is going to get very gruesome and possibly not for younger readers (can't take the risk of getting banned). Go to www.members.cox.net/sukasa192/VUstory.htm to read what happens next.))

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Once Enigma landed in Mantrax, she felt much safer, knowing that her captor could not follow her there. She headed out a little ways east, and once she found a suitable spot, built her first city of the era, Elainia. She decided she'd just reuse names of cities from previous eras instead of taking the extra time to think of them. Less time thinking of a name meant more time to build it up.

She quickly built Elainia, and sent her scout off to build Elvirosa. She had learned last era that procrastination didn't help you very much. She built up her cities for a few weeks without much trouble. Two or three invites to random kingdoms, nothing much.

Then came a message from Mr. Thunder Guardian of the Guardians of Destiney. (She was a little upset that guardians and destiny were not capitalized, and that destiny was misspelled.) Either way, she remembered from last era that the Baccus Monks had a NaP with the Guardians, and therefore were allies. Of course, she had to check, so she sent a messanger with the question. Once she was notified that the reply was 'yes', she said she would be glad to join (seeing as she hadn't found any Baccus Monks or Shinobi Empire teammates, the Guardians of Destiney were the closest allies she had in Mantrax). She was a bit disturbed to hear the Guardians of Destiney were betrayed at the end of the last era, but never got an answer as to who did it.

Around twenty four days later, trouble came in the form of Mr. Ganondorf. Enigma was wise to his actions, and planned ahead, though she knew she would lose both her cities anyway. She had recieved word of a mini-core some ways away owned by a Mr. Shikamaru, and sent an army there. Though, not before shortly taking back Elvirosa (which was the first to be lost to Mr. Ganondorf).

By the end of the next day, both Elainia and Elvirosa had been burned and destroyed. Enigma was displeased, but it didn't affect her too badly because she was expecting it.

((I apologize, but there's too much catching up to do and too little time because the next era's already started. The rest of this will also be posted on the same page I mentioned earlier, under the *~~~*))
