Sir Araved

Lived in Era 15, got 1 heir(s) (Aravedon) and was a member of Blitzkrieg Buccaneers

Araved

A Young man, living in the 15th era, with a dream: to build his own kingdom from scratch. To carve out his own place in the world. He rallied his fellow villagers and set out to build a colony. After founding his first city after himself, Vednia, he enjoyed some months of relative peace and prosperity...

Araved soon planned a new kingdom of moderate proportions. He sent his scouts looking for adequate positiions to colonize, and planned. Then, out of nowhere, new cities appeared on the landscape... but not under his banner! Colonizers and dreamers like himself had erected their own cities right under his nose! And he had to make a decision. So he did... an army was trained to crush the young cities before they could properly establish themselves. This decision was not made lightly. If Araved's dream of a place of his own in the world was to come to pass, these small lords had to be taken out of the way. And it would be him or them. If his attack failed, Vednia would be vulnerable. Soon his army would be complete, and with it the biggining, or the end, of his dream...

The first few battles were no more then skirmishes. 50 soldiers were defeated right outside Vednia, after witch they were pursued to a guard tower east of the battle. The tower was razed easily. The next goal was Undercity, a small town southwest of Vednia. The small army marched only to find the city already taken by a more powerfull lord. This could become a problem, but luckely Good Lord Oakenshielde accepted a non aggression pact. A promise was also made that Araved would not colonise or wage war south of Undercity and Lord Oakenshielde would not move north. So Araved marched his small army back to Vednia. There he would join witn new recruits and move on the last two cities that stood in his way; the sister Dwarven cities of Starterb and Startera...

First Territorial War

War! Before the army was ready many more encampments dotted the landscape and a preemptive strike was launched against Vednia. But by then the armie was ready. The small Dwarven detachment was easily defeated and sent fleeing back to their cities. But now there was an even greater problem. The Dwarven leader, a Lord Corbett, allied with King Greyswandir and the kingdom of Blitzkrieg Buccaneers, Lord Oakenshielde's kingdom. Would Araved fight an ally of his friend Oakenshielde? A decision had to be made. So Araved decided that he would fight. The truth was, he had the right to. Corbett attacked first, even if Araved had already decided to attack. So the army marched...

Araved's army marched to Mini Rock. But the city seemed to be walled. The scouts informed that Starterb was not walled, so he marched past the city and attacked the latter. Victory was swift and the city was razed. It had no potential for growth. But that was not the case of Startera. It was easily taken and secured. At the same time, a smaller detachment took the city of DA Waterboy to the east of Vednia and some minor skirmishes were fought. Victory was at Araved's side. The ill prepared and equiped Dwarven armies were no match for the veteran fighters behind Vednia's banner. But then the Dwarves learned. Mini Rock was fortified while Vednia's Guards secured Startera. It would prove a formidable chalange. And again the army marched...

When the army reached Mini Rock it set up camp. Reinforcements were soon to come, but this battle would be bloddier then before. Two smaller detachments were also on the move to take Mini Farm, a small city to the north. But something came across Araved's mind. Something that was bothering him for days. Was he becoming a tyrant? Maybe... so he decided to send Lord Corbett a letter asking for the surrender of the city of Mini Rock and Mini Farm... and a proposition to form an alliance. The lands taken in this war for territory were enough already. there was plenty of room for both him and lord Corbett to expand. If Lord Corbett accepted there would be peace and prosperity, for Araved would next apply to join the kingdom of Blitzkrieg Buccaneers, sealing a lasting alliance with Corbett and efectively stopping any vengeance strike by his people or his kingdom. If not, Mini Rock would probably fall, although not without heavy cost of life, and Mini Farm next. And if something was not to be done the war could rage on for many more months. Now the decision was on the shoulders of the enemy... or ally...

Politics... not the most pleasant thing... Lord Corbett accepted the terms partially. He would not surrender Mini Rock. Araved accepted the new terms, but discussions raged on. Corbett had his army attack the First Vednia Guards and victory was his. A bloddy and terrible battle... the tattered remains of Araved's army marched back to Vednia to regroup, only to find another army ready to besiege Vednia! It was King Greyswandir, marching in the defense of his subject, Lord Corbett. A counterattack was now out of the question. Vednia could not fall. Everyone braced for a final, desperate battle for their freedom in this land. In the east, Mini Farm was razed and an army marched to Startera. The situation was desperate. Victory was turned into defeat, and, soon, annihilation. But in the end, politics saved the day. The application to join the Blitzkrieg Buccaneers was accepted and the war halted imedeatly! Now, under a new and mighty banner, Araved's small county had to thrive. Cities had to be built and had to grow! And armies would have to march! For no one would stand in the way of the Blitzkrieg Buccaneers...

End of the First Territorial war

Some months passed and all was well. Araved's cities were growing steadily and his county prospered. But all that could end soon. A lord in Fantasia started casting the Armaggedon spell. As others before him, he would face heavy opposition. Victory would be hard to achieve. So Araved never gave much attention to the reports from Fantasia. But this time it was differnt. In less then three months the spell would be completed! Everything Araved faught for might have been for nothing. The world as he knew it would end and, should he survive the sundering and face a new era of the world, he would have to start from scratch. And the only thing he could do was wait. Only time would tell...

It would seem the present won the battle... and so the present era would prevail... for now...

Many days passed without incident. Araved was able to keep his cities growing steadily and even plan future conquests. But then, out of nowhere, an army marched to his cities. It belonged to a Sir Enos. He attacked unprovoqued, and it was a planned attack, for he marched right past Wraths Landing and the Undercity, both cities of the Blitzkrieg Buccaneers, and went right for Araved's cities. What quarrel could he have with him? Why this aggression? It was certainly not for territory. There was no stratigic value on capturing a city within enemy territory and leave bigger and stronger cities sorrounding the conquest. It would be easily retaken. Nevertheless, the army marched to Riverhold and a battle occoured. Riverhold's garrison fought bravely, but ultimatly the city perished. It was sumarily razed. The same happened with DA Waterboy. Araved could not understand the intentions of Sir Enos. Again it was proved the invasion was not for territory. Neither was it for slaves, the cities were razed and everyone was slaughtered. It seemed to be just for... fun. Chaos. As simple as that. Forrestbrook was fortified, the other two cities had garrisons but there was no time to build walls, but the enemy seemed to stop. The enemy regiment, comprised mainly of cavalry, was visibly weakened by the last two battles. It was no larger then a Battalion now. Maybe the losses at Riverhold and DA Waterboy had not been completely in vain. The enemy marched back from where it came and no pursuit was ordered. This small war was won, if won at all, by attrition. If the enemy retreated because he thought the losses were not worth it, that is. It could have been for some other reason. Araved had to recover from his wounds...

The loss of Riverhold and DA Waterboy were a great blow to Araved. Strategically it was no more then a setback, but personally, seing those two cities being razed wihout being able to do much about it, was devastating. Those were his people. Thousands of civllians died. and roughly two thousand of his troops were killed. Soldiers that had fought at his side not two months before. All dead... and just for fun... Sir Enos was now a blood enemy of Araved. He was probably too powerfull to deal with but, if he wanted a fight, he would have it. Sooner or later they would meet again on the battlefield. And, by then, Araved would hopefully be able to take the fight to him...

Some days passed. It was time to rebuild. Both cities were to be rebuilt. Stronger. Better. There would be no signs of weakness. And this time, should an attack come, Araved would be ready...

Finally the defenses were compleated! All of Araved's cities were now well defended and taking him by surprise would not be so easy. Now it was time to help in the offensive. Time, fate would have it, was against him. Another lord started casting a spell to end the world. And this time the madman might just make it! No more then 50 days would it last. And the city where the spell was being cast was too far away to do anything. Araved had been knighted by this time. It would seem he had grown strong enough to prove that he was no fool, and a good ally. Still he would have to prove that he deserved this great honour. Araved's Kingdom was now allied with the Templar Elites and at war with two great kingdoms: Solace and Abydos. Solace was defeated by inner fighting. A great Lord of that kingdom, a Sir Redemption, was now an ally of the Blitzkrieg Buccaneers. And a powerfull ally at that. As for Abydos, war was unnavoidable as they just seemed to be looking for a fight. Sir Enos, the destroyer of Riverhold and DA Waterboy, was with Abydos. If all of their lords were as... aggressive... as him, then war was the only thing to do. And so they prepared for war. But soon after the first assaults were lauched an uneasy peace was bargained. Abydos would stop the aggression untill the spell to end the world was stopped... if it would be stopped... Araved kept strengthening his forces in the event the spell was stopped and war would breake out again. Now he had a strong base. Now he would be able to do his part in his kingdom's wars. Now he would be able to prove his loyalty. But would the spell be stopped? Only time would tell...

It seemed unavoidable now... the world was at an end. 13 days... May God and His everglowing Light have mercy on all our souls...

One day. The sky was turning red as flame now... death was comming to claim the world and it's denizens... you could... almost... see it... in a glimpse... a shade between the thundering red clouds...

Sir Aravedon

Lived in Era 16, got 1 heir(s) (Vedros) and was a member of Blitzkrieg Buccaneers

Aravedon, son of Araved.

Having been at his father's side, Aravedon shared his dream and saw Araved build a small county in the last few years of his life. Araved was a young man. His son was what many would deem too young to rule. Nevertheless he proved to be a capable leader. He rallied the survivers of the armaggedon and pushed on. Now he would have his own chance to carve his name in the world... and honour the memory of his father...

Aravedon built his first city and called it New Vednia. He wanted to make it grow and try to resemble the old Capital. But it would not be so...

Second Territorial War

The world was still healing and war already raged all across it. An army soon marched on New Vednia. It was beaten back but they would not give up so easily. The second army to march would be led by Sir Echizen, a knight form the kingdom of Legacy. A war had already broken out between them and The Blitzkrieg Buccaneers. And now the war was at New Vednia's gates...

No time... no time at all. New Vednia broke Echizen's siege only to hear word of a larger army already marching for it! Aravedon's allies had already been defeated west of the river. New Vednia was all alone, with no hope of reinforcements. Soon it would surely fall... but not without a fight...

And so it happened... New Vednia fell. The garrison faught as hard as they could but they could not stop the far superior numbers of Echizen's army. The few survivors that fled the onslaught tried to find a new place to start over. Now the mission was just to stay alive... somehow... Everything was against them... would the exiles reach a new land to start over?...

End of the Second Territorial War

The Exile

Aravedon traveled for months with the survivers of New Vednia. There were two groups of exiles to begin with, but word had reached the first group that the others were killed. So Aravedon led the exiles far away. Little did he know that he was being followed... when he found out it was too late. They were sorrounded. Aravedon told his son Vedros to take those that he could and try to flee. He would hold the advance for as long as he could...

Sir Vedros

Lived in Era 16, got 1 heir(s) (Vedrosh) and was a member of Blitzkrieg Buccaneers

Vedros, son of Aravedon

Vedros led all the survivers that he could and fled the battlefield. His father selflessly stayed behind and sacrificed himself for his people and his son. Vedros could do nothing but hope... hope for a better time... hope for the people's safety... hope for revenge...

Vedros led the small band of refugees to a faraway land in Fantasia. There, the allies of his father and his father's father were gathering to plan for the future. He would take his father's place in the kingdom and prepare for war. Vengeance would one day be his... or he would die trying...

Vedros settled in the city of Vedrosia. From there he would grow and help his kingdom in what he could. His father held his ground against sieges from Legacy, but that would not be enough to defeat them. RIOT would have to take the offensive. It was the only way. So time passed as Vedros had his city grow, settled new cities, and planned for a glorious future...

Soon a battleplan was forged. RIOT was to move into Legacy territory, gain a foothold and drive them back, past the river. It seemed to be going well...

Curse their luck! The plan backfired! Before a foothold could be gained and properly established Legacy went on the offensive. They started gaining ground steadily at first. But then, what started as a retreat became an avalanche of refugees and defeated armies. Soon Legacy had most of the territory north of Vedrosia... and soon they would be at her gates...

Another threat emerged along with the Legacy invasion. A Mr. Dionysious, housed at the city of Imperica, had been harrasing his neighbours and trying to pull strings so that they would attack each other. It could be just a greedy lord trying his luck at dominance. Or it could be something more sinister... a hidden ally of Legacy, aiming to disrupt the local lords so that their armies could then swoop in and take everything in the confusion and chaos. Or simply a distraction. No one would ever know... but whatever his goal, he achieved the latter. Fearfull of the chaos that this lord could create, Vedros diverted part of his forces and marched an army to his city. Soon he would fall... hopefully...

So it came to pass... before the final assault was made, Dionysious joined Kingdom of Heaven. He was an ally now... Vedros did not accept this lightly. Some discussions issued about their new ally's real intentions, but in the end Vedros had to accept the fact that the real threat was Legacy. He would soon find that the hard way...

Before the Vedrosia Crusaders could get ready and march back to Vedrosia a great army marched south through the pass. The local cities were fortified, but to no avail. Soon they would be at Vedrosia's gates... and nothing could stop them...

Before Vedrosia fell Vedros had to make a dicision. There were many thousands at Vedrosia. They would fight bravely to the death to defend their beloved city. But they would surely lose... Vedros decided to evacuate the city. And so it was done. His proud capital was left behind...

Soon Vedrosia's last defenders were defeated. The exiles ran to the southeast trying to get past the invading armies. One such army presented a great threat. It was on the way of the fleeing exiles. It would have to be dealt with. Vedrosia's Crusaders marched against the great enemy corps... and they had an unlikely ally supporting them...

Before the battle a war coucil was made. Vedros and his unlikely ally, Mr. Dionysious, his former enemy, decided that the great army that stood before them had to be defeated, or it would be in a position to pursue both leader's exiles that were marching southwest. They would fight to the death. They would win gloriously or die in a blaze of glory. And so they marched...

The battle started with an advance by the enemy. There were many losses, but they were defeated. This moralised Vedros's troops greatly. He decided it was time to drive them back once and for all. An all out charge was ordered and the troops complied with a courage unspoken of! The charge was grand, but ultimatly a failiure. The army was decimated. Strangely enough not many enemies were killed. It was as if they were being protected by unseen dark forces... A hasty retreat was made. Before Vedros left he managed to look back and see Mr. Dionysious's brave troops charging to take the somewhat weakened enemy. Hopefully he would succeed where Vedros had failed...

Soon Vedros recieved a messenger, all covered in blood, in his tent. Mr. Dionysious had been defeated. The enemy army still lingered, unchalenged. It was a dark day. Now only they could only hope that the exiles could make it in time...

Luck it would seem was finally with him. The exiles managed to get past the enemy armies and move south. It would seem the enemy was more worried with conquering the empty cities that Vedros and Dionysious left behind then pursue their people. Thank the heavens for that. His people was safe... for now...

Vedros reached Southkeep and pondered what he would do next. What now? Legacy was taking all the cities to the north and nothing seemed to slow them down. Every army that stood against them was wiped out. Now the only hope of survival was in unexplored lands to the south. But at this rate Legacy would just pursue them and kill them all to the last man. So Vedros decided to make a stand. All of his armies would converge on Southkeep and the city would be fortified. He would hold the pass for as long as he could, to buy time for his fellow lords of RIOT to flee and rebuild. His great King was still in the city of Libertyville, waiting for the Legacy onslaught to get there, with nowhere to run. Hopefully, if Southkeep lasted enough and if Libertyville fell, his king could still escape south. He would prove his worth! Southkeep would be his great deed. So he prepared. The city was fortified and his armies trained agains any future siege. And he stood proudly, defyantly, waiting... Legacy would come, eventually... with it's large and seemingly unstoppable armies... but he would prove them wrong! "Let them come!" he thought. "We'll show them just how "unstoppable" they are.". "A cornered animal is a fearsome opponent. They will choke on their own blood"...

And so they came... and a great battle took place. Vedros had concentrated all defense in Southkeep. It was all he had... The battle raged on and his men faught valiantly, but it was all in vain. Southkeep was taken. It was a dark day. And yet, the worst was still to come...

Vedros led the retreat and moved to the bridge to the south. There he positioned his army with his allies of RIOT and marched his people further south to build a new city, which he called New Hope. What else would the city be but that? A new hope. They waited for a month and finally Legacy came. And their army filled the horizon. They were so many... how could those hellspawned bastards be so many? How could they be so strong? What unknown force was guiding them? How?... How could this all have come to pass...

All was lost... Legacy got past the river... New Hope was razed to the ground by Mr. Zaragoth, a lone lord that had a large army. He had harrased RIOT for some time now, but since the army was defending the brige, there was no one to defend New Hope. All of Vedros's people were murdered... every last single one of them... men, women and child... those dad did escape the Legacy onslaught escaped to Treeglade, the last surviving city to the north, but now the city was sorrounded by Legacy. It was only a matter of time before they came... there was nothing more to do... Vedros decided to live the rest of his life peacefully in Treeglade. Should the enemy come, he would surrender his city and turn himself to the enemy, surely to be tortured and executed... he had tried all that he could... and it was all in vain... the only confort he had was that his son was safe, far away by now. Before the battle of Southkeep he had sent his son away with a small detachment. Should all else fail, he would continue the bloodline of his clan. Now that all of his worst nightmares had come to pass, Vedros resigned himself and decided to aid his people in what he could before his end...
