Sir Bertrand Dugeusclin

Lived in Era 10 and got 1 heir(s) (Bertrand Dugeusclin).

sigh;
i didn't make a difference this era, nor did i make one in the previous ones ... we all hope for better times ... one day i will prevail ... when i get lucky ... it's hard for a farmer to become a warlord ... it's even harder to try and stand up against the endless plotting from the nobility ... one day God or the whole pantheon will be at my side ... or i could just start using my head, maybe ... hmmm, how i liked the days when i was still a troll, a poor one, but still ... *drifting away on happy thoughts* ... the blood!, the massacres!, the freightened scares of those mere creatures that seemed to populate the area!, the stolen children and slaves! ... too bad about the daylight and not being able to sell your resources ... friends were few and ennemies were always waiting for you to slip up ... but still, ... these were adventurous times ...

Sir Bertrand Dugeusclin

Up for some dieing?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so, Ponterson was rebuild, new lumberjacks were hired and mountains were explored ... people were quite happy with their new future, if ..., if only they could be really sure that the newly elected politicians were truely trustworthy.
Most of these 'sujets' were born into nobilty and gave them their rights by birth ... unfortunately wisdom wasn't always included ... The subjects of these 'sujets' were forced to do hard labour and pay heavy taxes to this nobility, who couldn't care less if a farmer more or less died because of maltreatement.
One day, Bertrand Dugeusclin, swore an oath, to defend his fellow compagnions and fight off this terrible reign of 'the happy few'...

Lord Bertrand Dugeusclin

Lived in Era 12 and got 1 heir(s) (Bertrand Dugeusclin).

Busy again ... no remarkable exploits to report ... peasantry is becoming used to the peacefull times that lay behind them ... Bad morale ... I feel they need glorious battles and bloodshed to remember what they once were ... if only a leader would rise ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victory! The evil king has been driven back!
Who could have imagined that the outcome could have been so glorious and ... profitable ... ? Our troops kept on defeating thousands and thousands of ennemy soldiers, until, finally, the main force was broken and the ennemy ran away ... except they had nowhere to hide or to run to ... trapped ... confused ... angry ... dissapointed ... futile ...

Lord Bertrand Dugeusclin

Lived in Era 13, got 1 heir(s) (Bertrand Dugeusclin) and was a member of Noob Table

After the glorious conquest, we were betrayed, another evil King ordered his underlings to take our towns ... unfortunately for our troops they were no match against his magic ... While this alone was not enough, we had troops invading from the north and south ... perilous times lay ahead ...
The towns in the west were lost for ever, burned, destroyed, abandonned ... the ones in the north weren't even worth rescueing and those in the south were newly conquered and were still in a very insecure area... Our troops fought bravely, their experience rose to the top, they fought armies which outnumbered ours by many and prevaeled!
The warring kept going, no rest or quarter was being given from neither side, relentless ... As always, when warring, your economy and population suffer from some severe blows, negative income for days, no food, no resting place for your troops ... on the edge, you might say.
When finally things were looking better, the final blow came ... it wasn't completely unexpected, but still, yet another KD joined in, so atm we had to hold of three different KD, in total this gave me 5 adversairies ... *sigh* ...power to the cowards... although atleast one diserves some respect, he stood up for his uncanny vasals and fought for them ... it was a shame that all those towns eventually had to be destroyed ... thousands and thousands died during this pogrom, the blood coloured the rivers for days, disaeses broke out, thus making the land inhabitable ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New plains, new mountains, dangerous unexplored forests again ... Multiple adversairies, good, bad, ugly and stupid, ignorant and savant, all alike, they will have to die ... once more, troubled times lay ahead ...
The invaders were ruthless, they had no mercy and they only wanted the destruction of the world, no brick is left on top of the other, fields and crops get burned, mines get innondated, all land turned into the most hellish place to live ... one would almost like armageddon, atleast that is over in a second ... this torment we are dealing with might go on for the rest of the era ...
you see refugees all around, peoples lives are considered worthless, everywhere you hear the cries for help, the demanding of a united front.
Will it not yet be too late? Will we be able to turn the tide?

Ponterson!
Shining for everybody to see! The last bastion against the hordes!
Calls for succes and cheers for earlier tiny victories come from across the land!
Withstanding to the most brute and ruthless conquerers known to this world, It is even said that never before in this era, such big armies had been assembled in an attempt to destroy ... our hometown, the shining beacon, a last proud stance against this horde of uncivilized foul creatures, slow down their queest for those legendary 'unlimited'-cities ...
Although our people roam these lands for a fairly long time now, in fact they even settled this area, they have never found such a city ... except ofcourse ... an old tale might help ... it tells about a secret in the heart of Ponterson ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ponterson has fallen! Again we were no match against the magic and huge economy from the agressors ... all of our people fled and tried to reestablish new outpost, trying to survive ... a new allegiance seemed to be a smart idea, as we had several invitations ... which one to pick? The strong team? the new team? an old one? or the sympathetic one?

The strong one doesn't need my expertise, maybe the new one does? And so, it was decided ... we would try and help the ones that needed the help most and hope for a fluently flowing stream of victories!
Some asked for my help while others thought that a 1000 men would stop the great conquerers of this era ... so, we made suggestions and gave tips, told about our plans and possible future ...
We suppose it wasn't ment to be ... a few hours later, our services were no longer needed, so it seemed ... our new liege banned us from the kd, because we supposedly had broken a peace agreement ... what were we to do? Leave the rogue unharmed after he dared to attack us three times? Let him hide behind the politics of this world? We thought differently ...
Unfortunately, the new liege had a weird twist to how he showed his wrath, knowing my military and economic secrets he decided to completley turn against us and he started, cowardly, attacking our newly established outposts ...
This gave us two options, ... forget about the original assailant and turn to face the new one, against whom we would have a better chance, but in the end we would lose all against the original one ... or continue against the original one and try to fight on both fronts ... *sigh* ... politics and ignorant stupid people make this life hard to endure ...
During all of this, an archmage was plundering Becherelle, one of our oldest and richests villages, nobody around seemed to care, no armies sent to meet him, once again, we'll have to do it ourselves ... sometimes, we wonder, why the majority is so scared?

"We have decided! We will not put up with such disrespectfull behaviour! Send out our troops and take back what was ours by right and law! Don't dare come back until the job is done or die trying!"

The betraying king's army was slain, our occupied towns were liberated and are prospering as we speak ... now the trouble lies in calming down our people, who want satisfaction for the wrong that has been done to them. Such behaviour has never been accepted in our lands ... purpatraitors will pay the prize, no matter the costs! Loyalty to their liege, who insures them of a happier future, is high. "Revenge! Revenge! " the warmongerers shouted throughout the streets and plains, rallying more eager young men to prove their valor in battle... bloody battles were to be seen in the neir future. Although the backstabbing cowardly king was trying to resist our peoples wrath, they felt confident in their leader and his judgement.
New agreements were being made, the news sent out to all corners of the world, because we knew ... after this punishing-expedition a more fierce ennemy was waiting ... and the clock was ticking ...

"Hurrah!!! Victory is ours, my liege! But it's not all good news ... our troops refuse to turn back, the general in charge is having a hard time dealing with their will to prove themselves ... they sense or even they know they will be even more victorious than before ... we now have captured an armoury, we were actually outnumbered, but nevertheless our army prevailed and killed all troops in there! We fought over thirtythousand of them and we didn't even suffer major losses!"

"Sire, Sire!, We have received an urgent dispatch!
Rahl is gathering his kd to strike back! We should move in at once! We mustn't give him a chance!"

... *thinking mode* ...

"Send word to our troops to hold their attack a little bit longer ... we might be able to negotiate a treaty ... if it goes sour, a pigeon will be sent and they can sack the town then, but for now ... they wait, did you hear that? They wait! No matter what, until i myself give the go-ahead."
*some more unintelligable mumbling: stupid generals, without any grasp of understanding the politics ...*
"He's not worth the effort, if he has learned his lesson and shows us the respect we deserve, we will cancel our hostile relation towards him and concentrate on our ancient foes again.
I'm sure our troops like to continue fighting against a more adept adversairy, the looting and prizes will be bigger and the women more beautifull and willing. Tell them, they can do whatever they want with the first three towns they visit, either burn or plunder or capture. Now go, and keep our forces under control, i know they are eager as hell, but the winnings will be higher afterwards.
Remember, it's your body that will be impaled!"

Something went wrong ... somethings always goes wrong ...
That cowardless twat is hiding somewhere, no communication, cut of from the rest of the world ...
Two generals already had been replaced as the troops were almost rioting and took action in their own initiative ... This situation couldn't be tolerated any longer ...

Peace? a shaky one then ... maybe one day it will be necessairy to look into this matter again ... but for now, we have more serious problems at hand...

Well well well, the mighty Kd's borders weren't as heavily defended as first thought ... two of our armies made it through their defensive belt ... if one man can penetrate ... then that means that they are nowhere as invincible as most people think ...
Ofcourse our armies were doomed, but the troops were specially chosen and handpicked from the most experienced of our warriors.

After our little excursion into the wildlands, where a lot of bigbig game was to be found, we settled a few arguements, helped out a few aqaintancies (?), built a few new towns and armouries ... to make things short, last few days felt like a lazy sundayafternoon ...
and remember, whatever a stripper tells you, there is no sex in the champagneroom!

Sundayafternoons like that tend to get boring really fast ... As it turned out, Armageddon has been avoided, thank god for that! But now an even greater danger is coming dangerously close ... some say it is even worse than the end of the world ... we will all be subjected to the tyrranyc rule of the ancient ennemy ...
Again calls for help are to be heard all around, anger and frustration is getting the upperhand, people go out on the streets, protest everywhere ... futile ofcourse, but still ... if that many are malcontent, perhaps we'll have a chance again in the future ... Who is to tell ...

Sofar half of the southern continent has been overrun ... yes, overrun, the job was done in less than two days... who is to blame for that? I have an idea, but it would be politicaly unwise to elaborate on this subject ...

*I'm feeling old and slow and i care too much for the wellbeing of this world ... perhaps it is time to give power to my son in law ... unfortunately, he is not a moral man ... perhaps our family-name will get scarred or even remembered as an evil house ... nevertheless, atleast the name would continue to exist ...*
