Your parents never taught you to be a decent honourable human being when you were 13 or 16?

One tiger-mom-ish wife like mine is enough to make me consider a life of celibacy!

04:58:35 May 17th 17 - Binh (Mr. Binh Late Again):

I sure hope your wife doesn't see this :p

06:16:28 May 17th 17 - TheBornLoser (Sir Sadako):

If she sees what I wrote, VU will never hear from TBL ever again :|

(modern men are so docile and submissive nowadays.... not "alpha" at all *sob*)

So how was your holiday Binh? You went to Vietnam? Did you find a potential wife or two for yourself there?

21:48:37 May 17th 17 - Lord Oghene of Delta:

lol i deleted what i said because i don't want to start an argument.

00:09:41 May 18th 17 - Binh (Mr. Binh Late Again):

Yeah TBL, I went to Vietnam.

My dad introduced me to a daughter of one of his friend before going back to Vietnam. He gave pictures of me to her and of her to me. As I didn't know anything about her, I didn't have any feelings for her at first. She already liked me from seeing my picture.

After meeting her to get some basic grasp of what her personality is like, I started developing feelings for her. The first two days was kind of awkward. We sit 2 feet away from each other, talk, eat, and drink. At the end of the second day, she took me out together to eat at a store on her moped. As I didn't have confidence to drive one myself, I had to ride with her on the same moped and hug her from behind.

She didn't eat much herself and basically just started feeding me like I am a pig. We are a bit closer to each other at the end of the trip.

Her parents like me and my dad like her. As a result, they encourages us to marry quickly if we like each other as they all want grandchildren.

The third day, I had to start visiting my relatives in Saigon. She was invited to the trip also and she didn't refuse as she wanted to be with me more. Riding into the city was one scary thing to both her and me. She is a country girl so that much traffic wasn't usual in her daily life. We started holding hands while stopping at a sightseeing place and took some pictures.

At the end of the third day, we rented a hotel room for the three of us. 1 king size bed and a twin size bed. The small bed was oddly enough only 2 feet apart from the big bed. Me and my dad sleep in the big bed and she sleep in the small one. She reached out her hands to my hands and we grab hands almost the entire night. Needless to say, my hand was a bit sore after that night.

Fourth day was basically more visits to different relatives of mine. I was set to go on the plane early in the morning of the fifth day to return to the US. We rented another hotel for the fourth night. This time the two bed are too far apart for hand holdings. She moaned to my dad that she won't be able to hold my hands and oddly enough my dad let me and her stay in the big bed together for that night.

It turn out to be more than just hand holdings. After my dad is in deep sleep, I started to pull her into me and hug her while letting her head settle on my arm. After looking at her face for like 5 minutes while in that position, I decided that she look too cute and decided to kiss her. If my dad wasn't there it might've progressed further, I wouldn't know. But that's as far as we got that night.

Right now, I'm planning on another trip to Vietnam to marry her in 3-4 months when the flight ticket is cheap. She tell me to go there longer this time (around 6-8 weeks) instead of only a week like I did last time which is honestly way too short to do anything.

I'm still flabbergasted at how quick this relationship is developing. My brain tells me that she will be a good wife. She cook and clean and help out in the family. She is gentle and honest. Haven't seen her yell even once. Very soft charming voice and attitude. My lower region is telling me that she is pretty enough to attract me. My heart is telling me that I do like her. I probably can't call it love yet since that is something that require time to build up together? Any love expert here?

02:44:50 May 18th 17 - Osiris (Dark Lord Osiris):

A week seems way to quick to decide marriage to me :D Hard to tell if it's love or just lust/interest in only a week.

I for sure wouldn't get married so quick just because people want grandkids, I'd say just spend more time with her first but I'm by far no expert :D

04:00:48 May 18th 17 - SFD (Duke Hybrid Sfd):

Lol is it weird that I imagined binh's dad with his arms wrapped around binhs weist in the bed while binh was secretly finger banging his future wife's hand xD

04:03:26 May 18th 17 - Endless (Mahatma Elfen Lied):

sounds like one of those Korean series I've watched

if head and heart align listen to what you're telling yourself

06:15:27 May 18th 17 - TheBornLoser (Sir Sadako):

Hmmm..... at least you are having an easier time finding a wife than I ever did, Binh. I had a pretty tough time finding a girlfriend back in my much younger days because I was a late bloomer physically :D

I am no love expert. Heck, I am boxed in by many parameters limiting my own experience in this field - I have had only 2 girlfriends my entire life. The second one was my girlfriend for 10 years, and now my wife for 2. Anything I say here is just based on my limited experience and observations of the people around me.

All deep, meaningful and long term relationships in life are essentially the result of a gamble, a roll of the dice. When you choose a mate, that is a dice roll right there. And its not just one roll, but a series of rolls over the years, as the couple face crises, good fortune and changing circumstances in life. You roll the dice many times to hope that she sticks by you in your bad times and her good times, that she will forever remain supportive, kind, caring, hardworking, thrifty, that her good heart and good head will not change with the circumstances or the seasons. She rolls her dice with the same hopes in mind, that the Binh she marries (maybe :P) will stay the handsome, dashing lad she saw in the picture, that the intellect evidenced by his mathematics degree remains and is put to constant good use, that the good and gentle nature you have will never change, that you will be a good husband, father and provider to the immediate family and maybe the expended one too, that you will forever remain a god of VU... (last one not important for health of relationships though....).

And thus, from that basis, I have seen:

- couples who fell in love with one another at first sight and built a long, happy, thriving, ever-lasting relationship;

- couples who fell in love with one another at first sight, and then fall equally fast out of love with one another somewhere down the line;

- couples who had no feelings for one another immediately, but gradually built their reservoir of affection and bond for one another over the years, and at the end of their lifetimes, they could not bear to part from one another;

- couples who, after some time spent getting to know one another, thought they had feelings for one another, decided to settle down, and found out that they were actually incompatible with one another in many core ways;

- couples who had arranged marriages and have built a relationship and a working team more loving and better than most other couples who connected mainly because of love;

- couples who had arranged marriages and it turned out very vexing and unhappy for the both of them..... and their extended family too! :P;

and many others.

For my part, I came from the category of couples who.... did not fall in love at first sight or at first three weeks. Did not have any good (or bad) impression of my wife when we first got to know each other. Ditto for her as well... she actually first thought of me as a skinny, bossy, VERY NERDY bloke overextending himself in studying for a professional qualification while trying to work 45 hours a week at the same time. Gradually, over a three month period, as we got to know one another better, we thought that, hmmm.... this guy / girl ain't too bad after-all; he / she is has a good, decent heart beating within his / her chest, and a good head screwed onto his / her shoulders, and a decent, morally clean outlook on life. Our feelings got deeper, and we thought about giving a relationship a shot. My second one, her first time in a relationship. Oh, I must add that when I first got to know my wife, I thought her very plain looking - a simple, ordinary girl from Shanghai. It was only one month into our relationship (and four months after I got to know her) that, when I observed her combing her hair in the mirror, I just realized.... hang on a moment!!! You're actually very pretty.... about an 8 / 10! (I get ribbed and teased about this level of blindness all the time and how my ancestors must be looking out for me because I kinda lucked out here :P)

But that's not the foundation of our relationship. The foundation of our relationship is that we have gone through many ups and downs over the past 12 years. We actually had a long distance relationship for 7 of the 12 years, where we could see each other only 3 or 4 times a year (I do not know of any other couple who pulled off such a feat of staying true and loyal to one another under such circumstances.... except maybe for my parents :P), we had many issues that could easily have resulted in a split up.... but we endured and got through it.... and now, we're settled down. Have a 16 month old child. Leading a pretty good station in life (note to all males.... MUST FIND a wife that is thrifty with money and low maintenance!!!). And I can't really contemplate a life separate from her now.... (except when she catches me playing VU and starts getting... unhappy....).

Plus she had rejected a billionaire suitor (divorcee who was a very early investor in Xiaomi - still holds a very significant block of shares in it, and also runs his own VC fund in China) to stay with a simple, not-much-money-at-that-time me.....

My wife has earned my loyalty for a very long time, maybe forever!!! ....Except maybe when she catches me playing VU, that is... :P

So what am I trying to say with all of the rambling above? Basically man.... you will never know whether what you are feeling now is love, but from MY point of view.... REAL LOVE.... is built up over time and has had its strength tested through BAD times AND GOOD times.

For me.... if you are going to face the war on life for the next 30 - 50 years, you will have a much greater chance at victory (maybe even over 50%) when you have a great woman and partner by your side to fight with you. As the Chinese say (in some way...): if your household life is secure and harmonious, you, the man, can go out to the battlefield to fight the demons and evils with a calm, contented, peaceful, assured and secured heart :)

So yeah, in conclusion... whoever you pick as your life partner, do A LOT of farming! Love farming, that is :P (make sure to build at least 4 90K cities so that your relationship and family can test the trials of life. Add in mass-NAPping too, and screw those who tell you to go and fight OOP wars straight away if there is no need to!) ^_^

P.S. Now if your love and relationship dice rolls are as rigged as Zeta's one when you try to cast AOTD six times at >60% chance and fail EVERY ONE of them.... just remember this.... Don't. Rage. Quit. On. Your. Relationship.

Unless she goes inactive of course :P

08:33:41 May 18th 17 - Stewie Griffin (Prince Stewie Griffin):

Quality post by a quality player. Those VU analogies were 10/10.

+1 for TBL.

09:24:59 May 18th 17 - Ryan the Archion (Duke Ryan The Archion XXX):

Oh, Binh is sharing his love story. What a new one. BTW, Binh, I'm also interested with a Viet lady in Ho Chi Minh. We usually chat everyday.

I'm planning to go there also soon.
Maybe we can introduce to Viets VU? Haha!

14:03:52 May 18th 17 - Pirate Lewatha:

How long has the era been going on again?

The Dark Riders Empire

Battles won: 1
Battles lost: 0

14:04:14 May 18th 17 - Pirate Lewatha:

In a side note, atleast they have a 100 percent victory rate.

14:12:52 May 18th 17 - Mr. Bane:

since the beginning.

17:53:06 May 18th 17 - Sir Justanius Fontainius XXXV:

yup 100% since the beginning .

01:16:10 May 19th 17 - Dark Spawn (Sir Dominion):

Why provoke a kingdom that will most certainly hit you in the back and take your undefended cities soon. Why provoke them to get them to attack sooner?

We even backed off a bit, as you could have noticed, we did not make any further offensive campaigns yesterday at all, in hopes you would send some people east to form some sort of defence plans against DR...
And what do you do? You send all you have against us, leaving your new core cities right next to DR all empty (with exception to maybe some small armies that will stand no chance against the attacks)
We hoped to make it a big more interesting war, but since you're gonna give all free income to them, I guess we might as well join the offensive...

02:41:17 May 19th 17 - Osiris (Dark Lord Osiris):

You could have had an interesting war by not forming instantly an alliance between the two biggest kds.

So you seem to be upset that we didn't send lots of troops to defend against a future attack but instead use them to fight the two kds that already attacked us and are still attacking us.... do you even know how stupid you sound?

03:14:16 May 19th 17 - Binh (Mr. Binh Late Again):

Thanks TBL, that was enlightening. You deserve to be the new Barny for that wall of text :P So I told my girl about VU. And she said I shouldn't be playing it since:

1. I might be attracted by other girls playing vu. And she doesn't want that!
2. I won't be spending as much time with her if I play vu several hours a day.

So you guys probably won't see me much as well when I do marry her lol. I'll have to sneak in like TBL!!!

"So you seem to be upset that we didn't send lots of troops to defend against a future attack but instead use them to fight the two kds that already attacked us and are still attacking us.... do you even know how stupid you sound?"

It's actually pretty smart since they're trying to use an enemy to kill an enemy. Didn't work too well though :P

05:00:38 May 19th 17 - TheBornLoser (Mr. The Dung Beetle):

@Binh

And its already begun! You future wife has started to mark her territory and lay down boundaries. I predict that once you have placed the Master Ring on her finger, she will immediately use its power to challenge you in a battle for domination and control in the household and the relationship, a battle which you will promptly, swiftly, and probably meekly lose, and you will end up as her very own Ringwraith, subject to her every command and whim. Note, nazguls may not be included in this relationship. And your battle power might not be 160 / 160 either :P

Re: my wall of text like Barny... well, I've always been a lover of long-form journalism and huge book tomes. I don't look too highly upon short articles that consist of nothing substantial except for soundbites and short "life-hack" type lists. From a great long-form article, you can dive deep into the oceans of knowledge, understand the context surrounding you, and maybe even extract pearls of wisdom and enlightenment from the ocean floors. Folks who just skim the surface of good, deep articles, especially with today's TL / DR culture and attitude, are one step closer to being at the bottom of the food chain. And that's the way I like it! Less competition for me and my loved ones in life!

Just remember, my friend, it is (relatively) easy to find a wife nowadays (especially if you are not a loser like me :P). However, building a happy, long-term marriage for the next 30 years or 50 years? That's an achievement that is very very rarely unlocked in modern times and requires nothing but the most Herculean efforts and stamina. The pain factor multiplies once you have kids. But if it is an achievement you CAN unlock? Then you will have a stability and peace of mind at home, something that also eludes many of us too. And that, is a sweet, awesome feeling :)

08:34:42 May 19th 17 - Mr. Aussie:

Just run Binh. You'll live longer.Wont go grey, and enjoy doing as you wish rather than what your told! :)

09:20:04 May 19th 17 - Pirate Lewatha:

That is just a ridiculous point. As if you backed off to give us time to defend against DR anyways. The only reason you didn't continue the attack was so you could keep members farming so you don't get run over by DR when they quit their farming spree.Your whole post is a joke. If you really wanted an interesting fight you wouldn't have NAPed the second biggest kingdom while being the biggest.

But anyways, I'm not a vice in Abydos or anything. So it's my opinion, not the kingdom's.

23:25:54 May 21st 17 - Ms. Jasmina:

Binh, when you're in a marriage, this is how it is:

You do something wrong, wife gets mad
You apologize.

Wife does something wrong, you get mad
Wife gets mad cause you got mad.
You apologize

Simple.
Sooner you learn, the better for you
:)

02:06:23 May 22nd 17 - King BurningLegion (King Burninglegion of Mantrax):

Exactly, I've had that conversion with the wife, Jasmina.

15:22:02 May 22nd 17 - Mr. Corothius Lucidius:

doesnt sound like the blowjob is a rose for a man kinda relationship..

15:43:08 May 22nd 17 - Lord Caedus:

That's also how my marriage works.

18:19:41 May 22nd 17 - Sir Justanius Fontainius XXXV:

Thats not how my marriage works lol. You guys have married some scary women, or maybe your always in the wrong lol. terrifying to read this for a newly married person such as myself. Maybe I will be learning the hard way ladies and gentlemen :/

18:28:12 May 22nd 17 - Mr. Bling The Mad:

Here is your lesson.

If a man is in the woods alone and whispers something. Is he right or wrong.
Answer: the man is ALWAYS wrong.

If the man agrees with the woman that he is always wrong, is he right or wrong.
Answer: how dare he question the status quo. The man is wrong, ALWAYS.

Accept that the ring you place on her finger drains you of everything you hold true to being a man, apart from taking out the trash and doing dishes, and reaching stuff on the top shelf. It is truly the one ring to rule all.

19:05:47 May 22nd 17 - McMax (Mr. Magicus Maximus):

I must say I agree a wife can be annoying, but not more than I can live with it.

Anyway, we don't need to use two forums for that issue (discussing females/wifes). Just continue in this........

Forums / Miscellaneous Discussions / VU and Infidelity

22:36:42 May 22nd 17 - Osiris (Dark Lord Osiris):

looks like DR got bored of weeks of playing Harvest Moon and might come out to play!

23:24:10 May 22nd 17 - Dark Spawn (Sir Dominion):

Well I hope you're not surprised...

  • 04:01:49 May 14th 17Dark Spawn (Sir Dominion):

Sad part is that you are right next to Dark Riders, so you will end up getting hit in the back soon, because that is just the natural way the rest of this era will shape into.

The whole map knew that week ago, you guys built a second core right next to them for them to take quickly, and then move in to kill you guys, then after you are down, Collective falls quickly as well, cause its not realistic that we would have anything to stop armies from players that have been doing nothing but building up for 2 weeks. Its not a long time, but considering the kingdom is a group of most skilled veteran players, I fail to see a way for them to lose this. Especially since they do not have to worry about their south cause they NAPed the only other actual threat to them regarding spawning position on the map and the number of veteran players in the kd...

23:30:01 May 22nd 17 - Osiris (Dark Lord Osiris):

I'm not suprised :P maybe if they win without any fun fights they won't do it again ^^

00:04:18 May 23rd 17 - Pirate Lewatha:

This is going to be one of the most boring era wins for sure. Abydos has had a pretty messy era but somehow we are still alive. Although I'm not sure whether that has more to do with our skill or our enemy's incompetence.

Either way, DR hasn't fought a single battle yet but can already be sure of the era win.

00:05:31 May 23rd 17 - Prince Root Saint:

They might not win you never know  trolololo

00:43:10 May 23rd 17 - Sir Hills Have Eyes:

Or we are not dead yet because of Abydos incompetence?

14:50:21 May 23rd 17 - Lady Elisa Day:

In order to make this a quick era

Dear DR please make sure to bring enough to be able to slaughter this...
Don't prolong the era longer than needed...

OMG, that's a HUGE army from Bogdan!!! :(

Eff this shit, I've had enough of this game!

*sees no point playing, retreats back to farming, pissed with the 58K lumbermills he built, pissed that he cannot match Bogdan, pissed with being born a loser, blames the parents for his birth*

15:31:04 May 23rd 17 - Bran (Mr. Bran):

tbl do i detect a note of sarcasm?

15:37:30 May 23rd 17 - TheBornLoser (Mr. The Dung Beetle):

Bran, no.

That's a really big army from Bogdan.

And I am really pissed with the 58K lumbermills that I built. I was probably the first non-halfling to drop a full 90K... and what a clunker it was!

The only thing I am grateful for is that I did not build 58K taverns!!!

*thinks about permanently changing his nickname from TheBornLoser to The Dung Beetle instead.... feels nickname is getting dangerously close to being a reality....*
