awhh come on
05:50:27 Mar 7th 10 - Duchess Cawkmaster:
why not tell us this before you just decide to get the ban hammer out?
the suggestion was poorly thought out, no concept on how things work, asking to nerf magic because he didn't carry enough MU in an army. WTF??!??!?!. the general consensus of the thread was this is a dumb idea, so you ban people telling him not to post that stupid stuff anymore????
05:51:56 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
I have to agree with Kai. That post made no sense... we were just making a suggestion to that person, not trying to be mean.
06:01:45 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Meat Banger:
I was pretty offended...
06:31:57 Mar 7th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
I don't think anyone was banned...it was just a warning that any further posting of "Stop posting suggestions" would lead to bans. Posting "Stop posting suggestions" is not adding content to the topic anyways...thus is pointless. Jeez...are people blind?
06:35:55 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
We weren't banned were we? Why can't we post in any of the threads in sug forums then?
06:40:44 Mar 7th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
Ah...you were banned from only the suggestions forum...well, nothing I can do about that then. Common sense ftw, eh? Back to my vacation I guess :)
06:43:44 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Marshall:
looks like the forum smells cleaner already. newb bashing never seems to get old for some peeps.
06:45:18 Mar 7th 10 - Duchess Cawkmaster:
So what are we supposed to do... pat him on the back and tell him job well done when he makes a dumb suggestion....??
06:51:56 Mar 7th 10 - Duchess Cawkmaster:
oh yeah just looked, I guess it comes with a ban from bugs and errors thread too.
06:53:32 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Marshall:
m-a-t-u-r-i-t-y whats it spell?
Simply put, you could explain why the suggestion is bad instead of dropping to middleschool tactics. i have watched silently for a long time. looks like a wake-up call to me. the suggestions forum was full of people basically just saying 'stop posting' or 'this idea is so stupid!" instead of saying "your suggestion is bad because of *insert non-whiny explanation*" sure it takes more effort and more sobriety, but you dont seem like an immature asshole.
06:55:49 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Dionysos:
Test to make sure I am not banned.
10:00:35 Mar 7th 10 - Sir Criminaly Insane:
Does this mean you are going to be banned for talking about people saying the thing that makes them get banned
10:56:43 Mar 7th 10 - Duchess Cawkmaster:
well maybe they should listen to people when they say, "stop posting" because they're making suggestions that are so shocking that people have no honest way of explaining how terrible a suggestion that is.
15:48:48 Mar 7th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
m-a-t-u-r-i-t-y whats it spell?
It has too many dashes in it.. I can't read it.. :(
16:04:56 Mar 7th 10 - VU Admin:
I think it's already explained enough in the forum rules so that I do not have to go through it and have a debate every time someone break the rules.
22:12:19 Mar 7th 10 - Sir Santta:
To be honest Zeta, the criticism wasn't pointless, nor did it not in any way contribute to the topic. If Mr. Meat Banger would have just thought about the entire situation that made him eventually make his posts for just five short minutes, he himself would have figured out why the suggestion was bad. I think you're pretty much overreacting on this one.
22:40:42 Mar 7th 10 - Lady Quietone:
Suggestion forums arent the place for flaming. Regardless if you think a post is stupid. There's a way to explain without insulting people. Especially new players- if they care enough to take the time to write posts then they are in fact learning the game in the process and will probably stick around which is what the game needs- people to stick around and play it. People who dont post will probably just quit the game and move on- but there is no reason to run new players away from the game because the existing members are too much of jerks to let them post in suggestion forums without insulting them rather than explaining things out.
07:06:27 Mar 8th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
When the common reply to a "bad" suggestion on this forum is "Don't post again" or "You are a moron" then that player is less likely to post again or they think that the players on the forum are a-holes and might just go elsewhere for a forum that has better control of the players or where they can post and get intelligent replies. If people complain that the game mechanics are scaring players away, maybe they should look at the players who are "apparently" not giving pointless criticism for the reasons. If I actually gave a damn what people thought, I would have left long ago due to the number of a-holes who post on suggestions and topics. Mechanics, updates, and w/e may not even be the main reason for people leaving. I wouldn't be surprised at all. I very rarely make suggestions on this forum due to the people here...unless it is about RPing and I can easily hold my own against any arguments.
14:02:32 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
Well instead he could've asked in the Help forum instead of trying to post about something that's been made defensive, if that.
14:08:19 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
14:11:24 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:
how can a newb know the true nature of magic in VU, when he/she encounters it the first time? 5k units to protect 10k from magic would probably be enough in most games, not in VU tho, so the suggestion wasn´t that suprising really if you think about it.
14:15:55 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
The suggestion was that BT's can be abused, and that magic is too OFFENSIVE. Not his defense, but the other person's OFFENSE. BT's, for one, should definitely be deserved if you buy them. For 1, it keeps the game running, and for 2, it is a fair trade off, especially since they disappear after.. what is it... 24 hours? Magic, after this, has probably been nerfed down to being used for hardly more than EITS and Freeze, on the side of attacking/defending spells. In either case, it's way more defensive than offensive. RoF has been moved up, and I haven't seen many of them cast, which is probably one of the most offensive spells there is. The case being that, you cannot take a city with RoF, you can with ownage, but only for a period of time, not permanently. So get over it and ask around to get to the truth of your problem before you post a bad sug.
14:31:46 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:
how can you know that something is a bad suggestion if you are not aware of these facts...?
16:06:34 Mar 8th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
"So get over it and ask around to get to the truth of your problem before you post a bad sug."
So you expect all new players to read the out of date guides, or ask the ever-friendly players on VU for help...HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!
Sorry, last time I checked, this game was not newb friendly. There are probably 5-10 people out of several hundred who might go out of their way to help the new players...there are a few more who might help if asked. Not sure how that justifies you posting like an a-hole in the suggestions forum.
23:53:28 Mar 8th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
I read the guides that were "Out of date" when I started this game. So I guess I am unlike every other newbie and I don't try to figure out a game as quizzical as this (at first it seems that way) by reading the player made guides before I post sug's. Besides, how's a noob supposed to know they're out of date? They just read and hope, whoop dee doo.
00:03:05 Mar 9th 10 - Ms. Cloud Strife:
Tbh, they're much more likely to receive positive, constructive, even helpful posts if they post asking a question about an aspect of the game in q&a before they make a completely illogical, and, imho, retarded suggestion.
00:15:05 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
That's what I'm saying. Lock teh suggestion forums from posts for newbies with 2 or less eras experience. :D
03:23:49 Mar 9th 10 - Lord Cao Cao:
Telling a new player just shut up and stop posting is not the right way to encourage new players to stay and learn how to play the game. There are much nicer ways, you could have told them to ask on the help chat before making posts, or to read other threads first.
That being said, those guys shouldn't have gotten banned from parts of the forum, as I'm sure most of us would never have thought that saying something like that would earn you a ban. Now that you've made a warning, people definitely should get banned, but not before the warning was made.
But thats just my opinion, seems fairer.
13:54:45 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
Survival of the fittest baby. If you can't take the heat, get outta the oven. In other words, if you can't take some harsh truthful words, I don't think VU is the place for you with all that goes on here...
14:03:53 Mar 9th 10 - VU Admin:
Maybe I should kick out all morons then, to make the game a better place.
14:07:58 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Seamus The Cluricaun Tripod:
I'd be the only one left.. ;)
14:08:22 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
Then you'd kick out about 80% of VU. That's not fun, now is it? You'd lose all your precious $$$.
14:25:00 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Chaos Legna:
I do believe its more like 2% of VU would be kicked ;) the others are just perverted not stupid
21:55:25 Mar 9th 10 - Ice Prince Isis:
then the game will just have like 5-23 players =P
22:57:06 Mar 9th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
You cannot mix perverted with stupid. Also legna, you're one to talk.
23:28:17 Mar 9th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
Just forum ban them :) Do I sense an upgrade to the banhammer!? The...Ban Cannon!? *Waves at Vuggy* :D
00:47:05 Mar 10th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
01:31:39 Mar 10th 10 - King Berkeley The Disheartened:
Black? Care to explain? :) :) :)
05:29:09 Mar 11th 10 - Endless Wargasms:
14:17:35 Mar 11th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:
No, because then you'd divide by zero and end the world!
14:42:12 Mar 11th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:
I agree with Horus, that guy needs treatment XD
17:35:54 Mar 11th 10 - Mr. Chaos Legna:
Its called perverted idiot or stupid pervert thus you've mixed perverted with stupid and the world is gonna now end though it should have ended like the second man was created :P
