Topic-Aotd sucks after tweak
And I'm not talking about what being does in the weekends, this topic is about the aotd spell as it is now.
My opinion:
Army of the dead to revive dead soldiers is useless.
Real data

I used a 1300 naz only army and killed someone prepping my city.
Battle results =53 naz lost, 53 injured
I removed all but 70 naz from the army, and then add 500 mus to make sure its not frozen, teleported too easily.

When I want to cast aotd on that army.

With 49k mus and 9k mts at distance of zero,  i get 64% on aotd spell.

If I put all 39k mus in an army,, I get only 54% chances on aotd.

Wtf, why so expensive? For reviving 53 dead naz

I have about 7 armies that were in real fights with 10k to 53k dead soldiers, and I can't cast aotd over 40% on any of them.
Usually less than 25% with magic 6.

aotd is almost useless mid- late era now.
Since

Are you sure you want to order the Shamans in xxxx to cast Army of the dead upon xxxxx with 61% chance of success?

We have 75561 magic power from this range.

If we fail the spell we will lose 14221 Shamans and 1366 magic towers!

Corrected for grammar and %error.

To revive 53 naz at magic level 6 with 49k mu army

Are you sure you want to order the Shamans in xxxxx to cast Army of the dead upon xxxxx with 58% chance of success?

We have 57830 magic power from this range.

If we fail the spell we will lose 14956 Shamans!

07:44:59 Apr 29th 23 - Water Bender (Lord Water Bender):

Okay short version

To revive 53 dead naz ( 53 were injured too) at magic level 6. In a city with 9k mts and 49k mus

spell%
Are you sure you want to order the Shamans in xxxx to cast Army of the dead upon xxxxx with 61% chance of success?

We have 75561 magic power from this range.

If we fail the spell we will lose 14221 Shamans and 1366 magic towers!

-------
Now with the 49k mus in an army. See below. Conclusion = 49k mus is not enough to get max %  to revive 53 dead troops

Are you sure you want to order the Shamans in xxxxx to cast Army of the dead upon xxxxx with 58% chance of success?

We have 57830 magic power from this range.

If we fail the spell we will lose 14956 Shamans

When was AotD tweaked? ZeTa surely would’ve made an announcement if such a change happened…

12:30:13 Apr 29th 23 - Mr. Enoryc:

I'll take some of what this guy is smoking.

13:45:49 Apr 29th 23 - Sable (Mr. Sable The Sympathist):

Yeah, I don't see what sucks about this. Max chance to cast a level 6 spell is 67%

You just aren't casting on enough dead to get any EV

Do you think it should be free to get 2 million gold worth of Naz back?

Because I don't?

As far as the tweak the only thing I can think of is there is a note that injured troops now affect the difficulty of spell casting but I can't see anything else that OP might be talking about

14:23:37 Apr 29th 23 - Percy (Sir Tyr The Valiant):

Also, the “injured increase difficulty” has been proven to be wrong… ZeTa may have tried to implement it, but from testing it does nothing.

For most spells, difficulty is based on healthy troops and MP modifiers. For allied spells, it’s based on non-pez and non-MU troops. For combat spells, it’s based mostly on MUs and partially troops.

Even after ZeTa supposedly made the change to include injured, none of the chances changed, meaning it did nothing.

AotD is exactly like other allied spells, only applies to dead troops instead of living. If chances are way low, it means you have more dead than you think, or army is MP’ed.

It would be VERY odd for ZeTa to secretly change such a major aspect without telling us… time will tell as people begin to cast AotD on Fant.

15:18:25 Apr 29th 23 - Konspyre (Captain Jaster):

Id say, cast it and let us know if you really only get 53 naz back. Maybe some dead gaia got snuck in at an earlier point?

15:59:26 Apr 29th 23 - Revolution (Lord Uther Pendragon):

53 naz is not worth an AotD spell, you're using it inefficiently.
It's best used to recover from HARD losses, or chaining like Zerks like to do. It's effective, not gonna lie. Cheap move, expensive cost, but definitely effective.

16:06:26 Apr 29th 23 - Percy (Sir Tyr The Valiant):

Cost to cast AotD is based on number of non-MU troops being revived. Casting AotD on 53 naz should cost like 200 MUs to do, if that. Anything more is a total waste.

16:22:54 Apr 29th 23 - Mr. Newby:

I wouldn't say a total waste.. 53 naz is over 2m gold. If you're spending less to bring them back, I'd say that's a win.

22:46:44 Apr 29th 23 - Water Bender (Lord Water Bender):

wait, no one remembers the aotd tweak in the last 9 months?

22:50:41 Apr 29th 23 - Water Bender (Lord Water Bender):

okay can anyone give us a casting % on  aotd when cast on an army with > 10,000 dead troops?

cause ive got at least 7 army units that lost between 9k and 50k troops and aotd is too expensive to even try to cast on any. and im late era orc

22:56:26 Apr 29th 23 - Percy (Sir Tyr The Valiant):

Depends on the MOP cast with, but yeah I can generally predict your % chance based on dead and MOP within decent accuracy

22:57:43 Apr 29th 23 - Percy (Sir Tyr The Valiant):

I just played a couple eras ago (November 2022 - January 2023) as primary mage on Val, and I can assure you AotD has not changed. I cast it many, many times and it acted the way it always has. Including on Orc nazgul armies, even with fewer than 500 dead.

00:14:04 Apr 30th 23 - Konspyre (Captain Jaster):

Sounds like you prefer just not casting it, even though that would prove the entire point? If you got a low % with high losses despite only 53 naz being returned, you're proven right. If not, you're proven wrong. Easy. Just need to cast to check.

If anyone else can confirm this being an actual point, I'll be happy to test some stuff out, though depending on how eras go it might take a few weeks.
