Help Save Lives
00:05:41 Nov 18th 07 - General Ezatious:

Please guys i came across this and its quite a nice little website, it helps give food out to those that are without every day of the year. Its something we take so much for granted sat here behind our computers. A click a day is so easy for us to do between ticks, do it while your voting for VU ;) set it as your home page, bookmark or whatever.

There are also links for Breast Cancer and other charities.

http://www.thehungersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=1

Description:

Description:

Tonight, literally millions of children will go to bed hungry, and because America are drowning in food most of us can afford, we never even think about hunger.

Six million children under the age of 5 die every year as a result of hunger.
One third of the world lives on less than a dollar a day.

Did you ever think that you could actually help save lives by clicking your mouse? you dont even have to donate anything!

http://www.thehungersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=1

just copy and paste that into your URL and click the yellow button. You can click every day, and everytime you do, sponsors donate 1.1 cups of food to malnourished children in underdeveloped countries.

the site also offers products you can buy, and a place you can donate money, but all i ask is that you take 2 seconds out of your day just to click a button, you dont even have to fill in any information or anything.

invite others if you can!
lets start saving lives :)

00:42:32 Nov 18th 07 - Sir Verll:

Why do sponsors have to give as someone click?

Can't they just give as much as they can?

14:46:26 Nov 18th 07 - Mr. Ridukuluz:

i think its about web traffic.  If many people visits that web sites, many companies will advertise there.  Therefore they earn money which they can donate

19:17:53 Nov 18th 07 - Mr. Prince of Darkness:

thank you

god bless you

00:09:42 Nov 19th 07 - Mr. Soccerfreedom:

yes, ez, i have been a daily clicker on that site for about two years now. its great!

and important thing to note is that there are 6 categories. u can help fight hunger, yes, but u can also give free mammograms, help children read, save the rainforest, save animals, and heal children as well!

set it as ur homepage and click each day! its a great way to help make this world a better place! woo hoo!

03:41:47 Nov 19th 07 - Dreadlord Noiralav:

going to that site used to give you a bonus in Utopia:P

loads of years ago, hehe

18:32:33 Nov 19th 07 - General Ezatious:

hehe did it? cant remember going to this one while playing utopia.

LL Arandor!!!

18:56:55 Nov 19th 07 - Mr. Ghoumzter:

Put it as my startpage, picked the animal thing, the food thing is probably a way to subsidise american farmers thats accually hurtfull to the third world.

00:24:05 Nov 21st 07 - Mr. Soccerfreedom:

lol ghouma, get real.

there are 6 sites, all of which are to help the world as a better place. vote on all 6 of them!

11:52:11 Nov 21st 07 - Mr. Ghoumzter:

Its a known fact that dumping food on the third world market is not helping them, it cruches their farmers and subsidises ours.

20:04:43 Nov 21st 07 - Mr. Dos:

It says the site was founded in 1999.  You seriously think that for 8 years that site has been making starving people in third world countries worse off by giving them food?

Riiiight....

23:48:58 Nov 21st 07 - Mr. Ghoumzter:

How is it relevant when they started when I just found it. And yes third world countries are worse off when first world countries dump their food supply on them.

18:24:09 Nov 22nd 07 - Mr. Dos:

Could you give me a bit of proof for that please?  If what you're saying really is true then I would stop clicking the food thing.....but I think you're mistaken on this one.  That site provides food to give to starving people, that food saves them from starving.  It might only be a temporary solution, but it's still a solution.

18:52:44 Nov 22nd 07 - Mr. Atreides:

Cool!

It might make them reliant on us for food and stuff...but imo it probably doesn't work out that way. Giving food to starving people is very different from giving food to the nation. I doubt that the country will suddenly, or even gradually, become reliant on the US for food just because of some aid. The problem is that there isn't enough food there, so it wouldn't replace what the farmers are selling. I could be mistaken though.

Anyways, awesome!

16:16:25 Nov 23rd 07 - Mr. Ghoumzter:

Why dont u look it up on google or something, they started talking about it on the news years ago..

17:46:25 Nov 25th 07 - Mr. Sephyroth:

Here's another website (copy it into your URL)

www.freerice.com

All you have to do is answer vocabulary questions (all in english)
For every question you get right, 10 grains of rice are donated to the United Nations World Food Program.  It's free, and you learn in the process. (I know, not the greatest of ideas, but still, it's for a good cause)

09:34:47 Nov 26th 07 - Mr. Architect:

I've donated my 300 grains so far.  It doesn't seem like much, but in like less than 1 month , they have donated over 14 BILLION grains of rice, thats alot, and it's people like me doing just a little bit here and there that make that 14 billion possible, you should do it to.

04:19:36 Nov 30th 07 - Mr. Atreides:

FREERICE!! I love that site!

You should try using goodtree.com. It's a search engine. Every search, $.01 gets donated to a charity of your choice. Doesn't seem like anything, but it builds up. It doesn't take that long to rack up a few dollars if you search stuff a lot, and multiply that by thousands of people and you've got a nice sum. You don't even have to do anything at all! It's just like replace google! Unfortunately, it's not quite as awesome as google. Still, it's pretty cool since you don't have to do anything special...just integrate into your normal life or something and you could easily have a helpful effect.

19:00:56 Dec 3rd 07 - Mr. Ixo The Storm Wizard:

How about linking this Site with a Voting Bonus Turn

04:45:49 Dec 30th 07 - Mr. Romus The II:

"It says the site was founded in 1999.  You seriously think that for 8 years that site has been making starving people in third world countries worse off by giving them food?"

Well im srry to tell you but giveing these ppl food is not what we need to be doing. We need to give the farmers fertilizer so thay can crow their own food. If you look at african soil its badly over farmed. a perfect example of what giveing fertilizer is Malawi. a short 10 years ago thay were reliant on forgen food now thay are exporting something like 100 mill worth of grain to her neighborging conrtys.

15:05:09 Jan 5th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

romus you are right, but if that is not happening it is worth clicking so that they get food, even if they are not growing it themselves. I saw this thread and now click for each of the different oes each day, going along the top clicking for them all. its a great site.

05:35:46 Jan 6th 08 - Mr. Ambrosias Arilyonis:

02:18:40 Feb 12th 08 - Mr. Kat:

You have now donated
1000 grains of rice.

20:55:15 Feb 15th 08 - Duke Altron:

06:42:38 Feb 17th 08 - Mr. Draven:

21:22:56 Feb 21st 08 - Mr. Brannigans Law:

15:37:04 Feb 26th 08 - Mr. Relativity:

I found out how much rice is in a cup, its about 7,200 grains! ( Found It Here)

19:29:17 Feb 27th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

so the other site is far more generous..?

21:45:37 Feb 27th 08 - General Ptang Bang Kipperbang:

I wonder who sat there and counted all the grains in a cup... roxbury i nominate you!!

03:53:00 Feb 29th 08 - Mr. Relativity:

Oh yeah:

00:10:21 Mar 2nd 08 - Mr. Killerelf:

i dnt rly know much about this kinda thin but i seriously doubt we're actually makin them worse off by giving them the vital food they need to live...

they would never become dependent on donations because the world could never give enough food to fill the mouths of all the third-world countries, the food we're giving is savings thousands/millions, but they are still millions of starving people, which is to say the farmers of these countries are not loosing  out on this, they have so many starving people, the generous donations would never drive them out of buisness. The more we give to them and not just food, the more they can develope in the future, until eventually theyll be able to handle themselves.

If we were to stop helping these countries, they would most likely fall into even worse conditions.

18:10:32 Mar 16th 08 - Mr. Plato:

I just clicked the link and all the other stuff on the page each 10 times!

21:47:54 Mar 24th 08 - Mr. Brooks II:

07:03:05 May 21st 08 - Mr. Jolt:

I just posted it on myspace as a bulliten, so hopefully people will send it around a bit

23:35:14 Jun 9th 08 - Swedish Chef Brashen:

Is it nothing for getting donations to the world?
Im not much for feeding starving people in overpopulated areas.
Sounds harsh but that is not the right solution to the problem.
In many areas food have always been a problem since the land is harch and cant bear much crops. But by trying to help by give food and medicine to lessen the death rates the western world have only made the problems bigger because were there before were tens of thousands living on lands that could not support them there are now hundreds of thousands living on the same land that could not support less people.
The more food given the more survives and since the land cant even support the ones living there now even more people will starve.
I rather donate money to solve the problem like relocation programs were they people are moved to places that can actually support a larger quantity of people.
Or simply the help the environment by making the western world pollute it less.
If we just look at the states they are around 5% of the worlds population and still they stand for about 40% usage of gasoline, so lets give our money to something that solves the energy problems instead.

23:50:23 Jun 14th 08 - Prince Bertilius Septim II:

I just clicked on it, proves I have a heart somewhere! :-)

12:18:57 Jul 4th 08 - Mr. Spoon:

I clicked 5 times since this topic started already, I feel so good :)

21:06:44 Jul 18th 08 - Mr. Falazaniak:

I understand your point for wanting to help starving peoples but really we must look at an even bigger picture.... what I am about to say may seem cruel but its the facts we have to face.....

there are now over 7bill people on this single earth and there's no way that our eco-footprints are small enough to sustain that.... for sustainability each person must now live off of a 1/4 of a city block, have no cars and respect the land. currently we use about 15 blocks of land in our greed for food and wealth. western society is doing what it can (but not nearly enough) to bring sustainability but we will be over populated all too soon. If we feed starving people I can truly say "the end is nie". starving people will have children and produce more starving people and so on. we will eventually be living on an eighth of a block and everybody will be starving. so for the good of the greater portion of humanity do NOT donate food for if you do the end is nie.......

Also donating to medicine research will bring the end all to soon. millions of people die of disease and it is a very terrible thing, however it has been keeping  the humans in check making sure we don't get too overpopulated. If we find cures it will only assaist overpopulation.

I may seem cruel but for the good of us all, and future generations, let the starving starve and sick die...

(please dont hold a grudge)

06:53:42 Jul 19th 08 - Sir Charley Statler:

This hopefully won't happen in my lifetime -_- while this is also a selfish look at it, hopefully we will colonize Mars by the time overpopulation starts really getting bad.  Until then, we might as well feed and cure as many as we can so we DONT all burn in hell ^_^ (Or just live crappy lives that helped no one if you dont believe in religion)

14:52:43 Jul 19th 08 - Mr. Falazaniak:

that's assuming that we have ever landed on the moon and such like because we don't actually have [proof]

07:03:38 Aug 9th 08 - Mr. Basch:

You have given the value of 1.1 cups of food to the hungry.

Wow i must be psychic to make 1.1 cups of food suddenly pop up out of nowhere

01:13:09 Sep 1st 08 - Mr. Athens:

In value lol

02:34:39 Sep 1st 08 - Mr. Harland II:
