12:36:51 Jan 16th 15 - ZeTa (VU Admin):

How would you react if you found out ZeTa was working on another game?

  • Awsome. Where can I find it?: 39 (40%)
  • Traitor! Work on VU!!!: 44 (45%)
  • Meh: 8 (8%)
  • I don't care!: 3 (3%)
  • I'll stay away from it: 0 (0%)
  • I'm a big fan and will buy anything ZeTa makes: 4 (4%)

13:07:05 Jan 16th 15 - Mr. Isisare Good People:

I voted for the traitor option mainly due to the love for this game but I understand its pretty much dieing but really I will give it a go like most of the community here will also have a go. But it really depends on the type of game etc.

13:50:28 Jan 16th 15 - Bran (Mr. Narb):

i put meh cos it depends. if the new game is similar and well made then maybe its a good thing

14:01:48 Jan 16th 15 - Alrisaia (Mr. Alrisaio The Black):

Wait zeta posted this???!!! Seriously where are alpha test sign ups?

20:35:38 Jan 16th 15 - Mr. Trolling Troll:

I said meh. Would need to know more before casting an opinion

22:08:26 Jan 16th 15 - Mr. Mallikorz:

Open to debate. Pics and alpha test first. Then I hold judgment. Though it must be nice to know you do have a loyal player base.

22:32:55 Jan 16th 15 - Mr. American Hero:

Name games that it takes inspiration from.

00:01:28 Jan 17th 15 - Ms. Wiseau:

I will pay $180.00 a month and not a dollar more ZeTa!

01:25:20 Jan 17th 15 - Mr. Millions:

I would definitely be interested in checking it out.

You did I kick ass job with VU

06:08:12 Jan 17th 15 - Mr. Mavericks:

I am willing to try it out.

13:02:49 Jan 17th 15 - Mr. Chade The Whatever:

hmmm...zeta did you actually use VU as your beta testing ground for your other game all those years???

19:59:54 Jan 17th 15 - Mr. Barny:

Honestly Zeta, I think people will just be happy to see that you are working on something and not inactive. I hope it is either similar to VU or you continue development on VU though, can you give us any more details?

The last one made me chuckle a bit, I can't imagine anyone would really just buy anything you make or stay away from stuff you made just because you made it.

Most people who play VU like VU and probably just hope that the game you are working on is similar and/or that you will put a bit of work into VU as well.

10:41:50 Jun 14th 15 - Mr. Todd L Fondler:

So when can we start the testing?

15:13:13 Jun 14th 15 - The Real Josh (Archangel Avacyn):

Yeah I wouldn't mind testing it out!

21:47:24 Jul 19th 15 - Mr. Nayoke The Kid:

I would also be down for testing before a final judgment is made on my part. If the other game ends up getting attention it could be a tangental opportunity to draw some attention back on this game as well in terms of gathering a more diverse player base.

22:05:46 Jul 19th 15 - Zond (The Good Zond):

Known this for long time. And dont see an option for that.

23:40:30 Aug 7th 15 - ZeTa (VU Admin):

Here's some stuff I've been working on ...

The following screen-shots are on prototypes I've currently put on ice ...

The first one is a MMO that is a mix between Minecraft, Dwarf fortress and Dungeon keeper. You basically mine, build, and defend your cave from invaders, having a small army of minions at your disposal.

The second is a space MMO, inspired by Firefly and Startrek (tv-series). You go around space looking for missions, explore, and getting into trouble.
I got a bit ambitious on this one and added real gravity physics.

The third is a MMO "clicker" game. Where you run a business and compete with others.

I'm currently not working on any of these three. I like the first one though and might continue with it some day.

I have a few more games on idea stage / paper notes. And one of them is like VU. I've however not decided whether to have it in a medieval or sci-fi/space setting.
I'm also thinking about rewriting VU with "modern" technologies, but making it more real time and have one long running world and many short 1-2 hour speed worlds.

Currently I've side-tracked and have started to work on a text-editor, witch is actually fun, but much more work then I expected. I didn't feel productive enough with any of the current editors/IDE's for JavaScript out there, so I'm making my own.

00:21:50 Aug 8th 15 - Mr. Fecker:

All depends on your capacity as a game engine.
Could suggest a blend between 2 and 3, but that could scale so exponentially it could eat up your servers

That sounds good, in all my years playing game i didnt find any game like vu, a revamped vu with some fast tick servers. Or maybe creating maps and setting diff tick settings like some risks games does.

01:55:42 Aug 8th 15 - shyers (Grandmaster Slyers):

App, zeta, app.

Phone ready programs are the wave of the future :-)

02:03:55 Aug 8th 15 - Konspyre (Captain Captain):

Phone ready programs are the shyers of the shyers

Other than that, what Reddragon said sounds pretty great.

12:36:40 Aug 8th 15 - Mr. Todd L Fondler:

I agree. Combine 2 and 3. Let people start squid farms on planet Xoltar to produce mucus for anti ageing creams sold in the degobah sector.

12:44:42 Aug 8th 15 - Mr. Todd L Fondler:

Also a VU kind of game but in a Hearts of Iron type of setting. Panzers and rockets tech! But... whats more important then ideas is completion.

I like this idea, everyone likes defense games and builders.

I actually was looking for a game kinda like this and all the ones I found sucked.

The third is a MMO "clicker" game. Where you run a business and compete with others.

Clickers are fun somewhat, they need to be pretty much never-ending though.

My first thought is which game will bring in the most income? My second thought is about maintenance, Time and money put in to fixing bugs or updating/improving the game. Which would be more "Worth" it? As of right now I think the answer to these questions is VU.

15:46:16 Mar 5th 16 - King BurningLegion (King Burninglegion The Blood Mage):

Space MMO game, trade converse .... travel ... build customize space crafts . join guilds and complete missions

Make it happen Zeta!

20:56:05 Mar 5th 16 - Mr. Uwer:

I would help.

See, Zeta, you said about themes here (space, fantasy, real world). I know that you know it that this is not what is important. The mechanics is all that matter.

And playing VU, I am pretty confident that your mechanics are pretty high standards. So, you asked for opinions and I am giving mine. Go for the best mechanics and the theme will simply happen.

You deserve to mainstream someday.

I have also a game called Wallace: british vs scots. Will make it happen someday.

It will be the first real fair game to newcomers. Still, hardcore enough to make them run away.

20:57:51 Mar 26th 16 - Mr. Hanky Panky:

Ok. One. If you make/complete a new game we best get the beta or whateva's

Two. Giving vu a revamp. Jizzzzzzzzzz.

12:44:35 May 19th 16 - Mr. Albatross:

I'm a big fan of indie games and I'm in - happy to volunteer as a tester!

12:44:48 Jan 2nd 17 - Endless (Ms. Sari Luvs Company):

space MMO :)

15:09:19 Jan 2nd 17 - Cloutier (Master Obiwan Kenobi):

I'd be happy to buy VU and make it better as I have the time and skills. All I need is a price and I'll tell you if it's worth it or not. ;)

21:03:47 Jan 2nd 17 - HorusPanic (Sir Panic):

^ !!

07:10:13 Jan 3rd 17 - McMax (Battlemage Mcmax of Mantrax):

What-ever you do, just don't make it too expensive to play nor make the gameplay too fast - like Stronghold online fx.

The 1½-2 years I was away from here, I reach the top 100players in one of the worlds.

If/when you get hooked, that game becomes expensive to play ('round 50 euro a month from me the last year or so) and for almost that year, most of my sparetime was "there" in front of the 'puter or not far from it.

And I could consider myself as only "moderate" addicted(!). Some used real big money to buy "cards" and "premium-tokens" to play on several worlds at the same time, using.... I don't know how much time each day, but some probably lived side by side with their access to the game and a hotline (phone) to/from other superactive players in case an attack was incomming/planned.

That became too much.

13:39:02 Jan 3rd 17 - Mr. Villhelm:

I think you should polish Vu and turn it into a app for mobiles. Everyone will play it and probably spend in game money on bts, giving you more money

21:22:38 Jan 3rd 17 - Mr. Elvener:

Actually there's a lots of popular games already available like space mmo's and ....

The only thing Zeta can works on is VU, cause there's no games like it and its true. :) This game need some updates and graphics works, like changing City Sprites for different races(must not be premium), adding New Maps, more options. Also adding 1-2 New Race would be cool. i played lots of games, so i know what would be best.

21:26:55 Jan 3rd 17 - Princess Aisha:

This is not something new that you just came up

We have been asking for graphics to get an update for years
I have stopped trying to get people to play after several laughed at my face at how ugly the game looks, and its called visual utopia.

21:30:10 Jan 3rd 17 - Mr. Stuart:

yep i know. i just wanted to remind it again. :)

21:33:19 Jan 3rd 17 - Xerxes The Great (High King Xerxes The Corrupt):

Same here Aisha. This game is definitely out of date and needs to be refurbished in a way so that we can get more new players and and still retain the old. It's true that there is no other game like VU and because of that the potential is huge.

22:12:52 Jan 3rd 17 - errorwick (Mr. Erithoth):

I feel like a lot of people would love this game, but nobody knows it exists. It can definitely use a graphic update though - maybe even give an option in the settings to use old graphics if you prefer it that way.
A mobile app would be awesome and probably bring in a lot of new players. I greatly prefer playing on browser but maybe an updated app would change that.

03:50:23 Jan 4th 17 - Sir Aloysius LXXVI:

I like connected worlds! :)

12:27:57 Jan 4th 17 - Lord Caedus:

Does Zeta actually care about our opinion or was this more to advertise and try and get buy in on another game?

15:58:25 Jan 4th 17 - HorusPanic (Sir Panic):

both

19:48:43 Jan 4th 17 - McMax (Battlemage Mcmax From Zet):

I'm sure he does care.
