hey, iv been thinking that maybe the united kingdom should bring back natinal service.

i wouldent want it to be compusry so not everyone has to join the army, navy, raf.

the only resion you would HAVE to join is if you where prosicuted of a crime example anti socil behaviour, GBH (greves bodly harm) ABH (actuly bodly harm) so on so forth.

now i have thought about this and realise that if we stick all the monkys in the army or watever then are army would become troblesom or full of *beep*s, so a specil unit could be made for them witch would only deal with the most easy of things guarding, cleaning boots, washing up, being stewerds to the officers in the navy etcetc all the *beep* jobs no one wants to do.

I agree in most of this, except the stewards for officers. I'm sure some of the fine cutlery in the officers mess would go missing.

There would be tons of scraps between them. So you'd have to keep an eye on them all the time.

Another thing is their morale, they aren't going to make much of an attempt at this because:

They are being forced into it
They aren't exactly the most civilized in our society (ie some of them possibly dropped out of school).

I'm not sure though. Its not a bad idea.

I think it should be an option, if you leave education and are under 18, and haven't found a job by then, instead of going on benefits and wasting tax payers money, their parents would have the choice to force them to go into the army/navy/RAF as a new recruit.

It would be pointless making a special regiment for them because it would just destroy their morale and willingness to do anything.

I'm currently applying to join the army, as infantry, what they need to do is minimise the time it takes from applying to actually being a soldier, the average wait is about 6 months, how is someone supposed to survive for 6 months when it's impossible to find a job.

A lot of people who may be doing that stuff could just use discipline. Some, if given some discipline or forced to work hard a little, will turn their lives around. I remember when kids joined the military for discipline and came back into their lives, being more responsible. And if a lot of these people just want to go around killing people....what better place than a war? Of course nothing is perfect.

When you give mass amounts of troubled youths access to mass amounts of military grade guns that they could have in there wildest dreams hoped for, thinks will phuck up badly.

Most of the time, when there really mad, these people react on first impulses, they do very thinking between the what happened and the action there going to take. They dont put what they should do into proportion compared to the act done to them, they just go full out 100%

So, giving people like these guns, who sometimes cannot control themselfs in stressful situations, in mass waves, only spells out *beep* M.E

Sure there might be some people that turn there life around, but there will be alot that dont and those that dont will cause huge problems for the military and the government.

All in All- Not worth it

You must take many tests which are both mental and physical, on top of that, you must train for almost every aspect, from using different weapon classes, to driving different vehicles to parachuting, It's not just, "Well... I think I'll have a go, see what happens."

On top of that, most 18 year old entrants must under go at least 2 years of training, which is more than enough to put 90% of the kids in Britain in line. They are not tolerant of bad behaviour, and you will be kicked out extremely quickly if you think you can continue acting like a chav in the army and if you screw up in the army, that's a nice big black stain on your record of achievement for life.

I'm sorry, but Sorra, and Durza you just seem like you don't have a clue what you're talking about, do some research before you waltz around stating opinions.

hey.

as a marine my self i know what disiplin dose for you befor i joined i was a bit of a crazy child i wasent what you would call socible but as soon as i joind the marines im compleatly fine now (not normal) but fine.

with natinal service has to come care for 3 reasions

1) you do not want to train yobs to use guns.

2)you dont want to fill the rest of the armed forces with these yobs as it will not help an already dwinderling moral.

3) the "yobs" could take the skills that they learn and use them on the streets e.g. how to accuratly shoot a gun, kill somone with your hands without rli having to work to hard.

HOWEVER

there are possibilitys.

in the united kingdom we have units such as the royal engerneers; however we dont have enouth of these units. we need nearly 1000 more engerners thus we could put these "people" if we can call them that into trainning to be engerneers thus filling the gap.

we wouldent need to train them to use a gun cos everything they do would be in a work shop or at home on base, this is only an idear so not perfict.

No Squiddy, the method of putting troubled anybody in the army by force has failed EVERYTIME it was tried. And as the original post stated..."The only reson you would HAVE to join is if you were convicted with...." So basiclly ypur forcing people who have been convicted of crimes into the army

Most armys around the world wont accept you if you have a serious criminal record let alone force you into it.

Also so many questions rise with your position on this issue like what willyou do with the ones that are so bad that the military cant control them and they keep phucking up at there post?

Military Jail is WAY more displined/better then a regular federal maximum security prison.

Anyways, were back at square 1, dumping all the troubled people in jail. Alot of money could be saved by directly dumping them in jails (if that in turn is the only soultion) instead of going through this whole process and ending up dumped in jail anyways.
