37,458,296 ppl disabled in USA
18:00:33 Oct 25th 07 - Lord Carnage:

According to USA government, in 2003,
out of 262,582,160 surveyed people*,
only 225,123,870 had no disabilities.
Thus leaving 37,458,296 people which do have disabilities.
Meaning that 7% of the people in the USA are disabled.
That's HUGE! Is it really possible? O_O

*U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population 5 years old and older, by disability status, type of disability, sex, and age: 2003

P.S.
The USA demographics include lots of things like how often people go to the bathroom and other useless things, but does not include the literacy %.... why?!
All other countries do.

18:54:49 Oct 25th 07 - Mr. Xiax:

Disabilities can mean many things, I think you are reading too deeply into the meaning of the word. People who are a little retarded and old people who cannot do much for themselves anymore or are still active but feeling the signs of old age can all be labeled disabled.

20:23:28 Oct 25th 07 - Mr. Smuff:

George Bush is disabled :P

The USA: the county made by great people, but spoilt by the few.

21:19:26 Oct 25th 07 - Mr. Soccerfreedom:

disabled includes having any disorder right?

well, ADD would count then, and that is huge. also, anyone who has been injured, in car accidents, fires, and other ways..............

23:53:51 Oct 25th 07 - Mr. Firestorm:

I would class all Americans to be disabled in one way or another =P

00:10:27 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Sigheart:

Shut up. I'm probablly smarter then you so shut up right now.

00:36:16 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Brannigans Law:

dont forget being overweight is classed as a disability....

01:51:13 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Dakarius:

I don't think so, otherwise the number would be huge (no pun intended)
We realy weigh to much as a people.

12:00:55 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Vodka:

dont forget being overweight is classed as a disability....

Are you kidding me!?!? that would mean 99% of americans are disabled... no wait... that sounds just about right ;p

14:11:52 Oct 26th 07 - Lady Lacewing:

Only being grossly overweight is considered a disability, though.  So much that it impairs the ability to move around on one's own.  Sometimes it's because of a medical problem, but when I see people so fat they have to move around in a cart with enough food to feed a dozen kids for a month, I can't always believe that is the case oO

21:19:41 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Sigheart:

People like you disgust me Vodka, I think I'm moving back into international  withdrawal.

22:06:33 Oct 26th 07 - Mr. Killstone:

i agree with sighart msot people are not overweight. the people that i do know that are overweight are not very over weight sjut slightly.

01:44:46 Oct 27th 07 - Mr. Smuff:

but statistically you are the fattest nation in the world per 1000 people; closely followed by us, the UK :P

01:53:08 Oct 27th 07 - Mr. Sigheart:

There are currently 1.6 billion overweight adults in the world, according to the World Health Organization. That number is projected to grow by 40% over the next 10 years. The following list reflects the percentage of overweight adults aged 15 and over. These are individuals who have individual body mass indexes, which measures weight relative to height, greater than or equal to 25. Obese is defined as having a BMI greater than or equal to 30.

Rank Country %
1. Nauru 94.5
2. Micronesia, Federated States of 91.1
3. Cook Islands 90.9
4. Tonga 90.8
5. Niue 81.7
6. Samoa 80.4
7. Palau 78.4
8. Kuwait 74.2
9. United States 74.1

Tom Bombadil *beep*

02:00:43 Oct 27th 07 - Mr. Smuff:

Cook Islands? Micronesia? dont they have like 3 people living on them anyway :P

and Samoa/Tonga and i think Nauru are the south pasific islands around austrailia and they are like all grown to be fat. im surprised UK isnt in there...

09:38:49 Oct 27th 07 - Mr. Angel of Death:

like sigheart and Killerstone siad most the people I know arent overweight and if they are its just a little overweight not much however their are a few cases for people who just dont know what exercise is or what outside is but its better than being underweight to skin and bones

oh and the US isnt the fattest nation yea yeah yea

16:31:46 Nov 1st 07 - Mr. Squiddy:

Why is it 15 year olds count as adults when measuring something that makes the country look bad but in every other aspect they are labelled kids. They can't do anything an adult can do legally....

Why do they do this, maybe to distort the facts a little bit? I wonder who would be in the top 10 if it was done properly, i.e. adults being actual adults of 18 years+

Who the hell ever heard of a 15 year old being considered as an adult!?

17:41:50 Nov 1st 07 - Mr. Erunion Telcontar:

The test was done this day because people who are 15 will soon be considered adults, and this makes the test fairly valid for the next few years...
Because they did it this way, They can be lazy till 2010... :P

17:53:40 Nov 1st 07 - Lord Seloc:

Disablitys also inclued Depression, and depression is common in every country everywhere you go. The only difference is in America you have to have a phyciatrist (Or so I've heard). It's like going to the doctors, your not ill till you go there your just unwell.

18:33:20 Nov 3rd 07 - Sir Santa Claus:

the solution to depression is going to live with a small primitive people. No stress, only catching your food, building a hut every now and then and just having fun ;-)

20:08:00 Nov 3rd 07 - Mr. Donald Merwin Elbert:

whether you are very overweight or just slightly overweight, as soon as your BMI passes 25 your risk of heart attacks etc increase dramatically. being 20 pounds overweight is not good.

14:59:58 Nov 7th 07 - Lord Carnage:

whaaaaa!?!?
Ther's around 6billion people in the world....
it's just PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE that MORE than 1/6th of the world is obese.
