17:03:14 Nov 25th 07 - Mr. Deadordying: I served for 3 years in The British Army, my regiment was the 16/5th The Queens Royal Lancers. A cavalry regiment, no horses when I joined (I'm not quite that old lol). It was a recconaisance regiment using tracked vehicles, basically small tanks (Scorpions, scimitars and such.) Now the regiment has been amalgamated with 17/21st Lancers to form the Queens Royal Lancers which uses main battle tanks Challenger II mainly with still a few smaller tracked vehicles. I joined during the first Gulf War and my regiment saw active duty in Kuwait/Iraq. Unfortunately I didn't as I joined too late and the war was over by the time I finished training. I did tours in Belize and 6 months in Cyprus though which kind of made up for it. It is a good life and I recommend it to anyone. It is tough getting through the training, however once at your regiment it is fairly easy going. I did manage to do P company which is a parachute regiment training course and passed and did a couple of sniper courses too. There is nothing better than knowing you can shoot a flys' ass off at 900m lol. What I would recommend is to get a trade when you are in there otherwise when you come out you are basically starting from scratch and it is a hell of a shock. The armys' training is second to none and getting a job when you have left the army is gonna be a hell of a lot easier if you're an engineer or a technician rather than someone who can kill flies from a distance lol :) DoD
19:03:34 Nov 25th 07 - Duke Carlos Calabria: I haven't been in the army, when I was old enough I went to one of our regiments to do the ordinary routine of questions and training. I waited for about 45 minutes with a bunch of others guys in my age and then I got a call telling me to see the psychologist(spelling?), I went and talked to her, after three minutes she practically told me to just bugger off... That's my army life.
01:08:00 Nov 29th 07 - Mr. Prince of Darkness: ahh , well i live in equpied country , we don't have army service . can you belive that the army service in israel is 3 years and it should start from 17 , so they created a system named bagrot to save a year like GCSE and so they can enter the army . they make 150 $ a month . truly spartans
