Republican presidential debate
04:11:12 Nov 23rd 11 - Mr. Sausage Soldier:

Is anybody else terrified at the prospect of having these morons at the helm of the USA?

The world over, we hoped and predicted the Bush presidency was just a blip, a stain on the fabric of U.S history. We thought the Palin furore was a twisted joke. But looking at all these candidates, I'm genuinely worried by the absolute stupidity of the Republican nominees, we just can't seem to get away from these morons. It seems that in order to get elected, you need gorge the stupidity of your electorate.

Blaming the debt crisis on the European banking system and fear mongering the public into believing the democrats will bail them out, arguing in favour of beginning trade wars with China because of stolen intellectual property, willfully ignorant of politics outside of North America, ("Iraqiraqistan, continuing the Isreal love-in and supporting them in military action against Iran, stating Hamas are in Mexico, general prejudice against Muslims ('I won't have one on my team"), in favour of detaining and torturing foreign nationals without trial, withdrawing funding to the UN, avoiding free healthcare in the 21st century. The list goes on. Are these guys still stuck in the middle ages?

Ron Paul is the only one who looks like he has an ounce of intelligence, but even then his views are pretty far fetched and not in toe with the party line. Hermain Cain is the token black guy, ignorant of international politics and spewing the same "I can't answer your question unless informed by presidential advisors/"9/9/9"/"I'm both in favour and against abortion" nonsense. Romney flip-flops so much you don't even know his real opinions, Perry has opinions-- if he could remember what they were, and Bachmann is Palin Mk.2.

Fuck sake America, sort your house out. Obama is going to win no contest if this is the best you can offer as his competition. Do you not cringe at what your country is serving up? I'd be thoroughly embarrassed.

04:39:03 Nov 23rd 11 - Mr. Caprophagic Dog:

Huntsman is pretty solid, and Ron Paul has a good head on his shoulders, but the majority of the Americans want a quick fix, instant gratification solution to their "woes" or demands.....

05:26:30 Nov 23rd 11 - Mr. Cao Cao of Wei:

Huntsman is the only viable candidate on that stage. He is intelligent, very pragmatic, and devoted to serving the country. He has intimate knowledge with China, has been a highly popular and successful governor, and has a strong, Conservative economic plan that still appeals to both sides of the aisle. He also believes in science and doesn't appear to be crazy or racist.

Yet nobody supports him, I don't understand the GOP anymore

Normally i'd just say, "Easy solution, move to Australia" but our country is being run by a red-headed British-born woman. So not much luck here either, i'm thinking maybe Antarctica, i hear the penguins are friendly and none of the governments involved really pay much attention to it.

Couldn't of said it better myself... I"m a conservative, but I hate everybody outside these two...

Perhaps I should. I wonder what it is like there....

Cold, that is what it is like there  ;)

07:33:34 Dec 4th 11 - Architect (The Architect):

I'd prefer 8 more years of Bush than 4 years with any of them, except maybe Ron Paul, I think he could do alright.

And to be clear, I'm definitely not a fan of Bush.

Nah, Rick Perry made the coolest comeback ad ever. I <3 Rick Perry.

12:08:31 Dec 4th 11 - Mr. Caprophagic Dog:

Easiest way for a hostile foreign country to bring down America is to make sure one of these Republican clowns (except for Huntsman and Paul) beats Obama in the next Elections. And help them appoint a looney VP too.... Palin 2.0.

All China or Russia needs to do is just funnel USD1 billion to their chosen Republican nutjob candidate to kick Obama's ass. I mean.... USD1 billion is spare change to the Chinese.... they earn that in half a day.....

Imagine Bachmann with USD1 billion of funding to play with..... woohoo..... GO TEA PARTAY!!!!

23:50:45 Dec 4th 11 - Mr. Uric Dawnfathom:

Paul is the only contender in the GOP that is level headed and hell. He really isn't even republican. Hes a libertarian running REP to get more media coverage (a lot it does lol)

If you actually listen to what he says and look into his plan (and you actually have half a brain) then you will realize that he hits the nail right on the head. More debt (FED reserve printing money for spending) is not the way to get rid of debt. The problem is the Keynesian attitude toward the market which is allowing the government to tamper with it. Also taking the dollar off of the gold standard didn't help but regardless he knows what hes doing. The rest are a bunch of imbeciles who wouldn't know how to tie their own shoes if they didn;t have a diagram.

Antarctica is cool, come over.

03:41:10 Dec 5th 11 - Endless (Ms. Butter Croissant):

How boring is VU these days that you all are discussing politics :p

03:43:54 Dec 5th 11 - Stormy (Ms. White Rose):

word.....

05:04:27 Dec 5th 11 - Mr. Uric Dawnfathom:

A soon to be world wide debt crisis kinda sucks. All of the UN is to blame. Crazy unending spending and debt. Anyone with logic can tell you that this isn't a good thing. Not many European nations or America for that matter have been very thrifty. Though that did get us the ISS, CERN, the ITER reactor etc... but still that was only a small portion of it.

14:39:39 Dec 5th 11 - Mr. Caprophagic Dog:

A world crisis is always a prelude to a power shift. The countries that have managed their finances well and have kept (generally) their houses in order will gain power over those countries who have been flagrant with their spending and disorder. A crisis always presents either a threat or an opportunity (I of Chinese descent, so you know how I view an event like this... :P), so the countries that play the best game in the next few years are going to emerge with a truckload of power and influence. Yeah, I am looking at the rise of China and Germany (along with maybe Korea, Brazil and Turkey) and the decline of A LOT of traditional powers :P

Same thing goes in real life. One man's / woman's crisis is another man's / woman's opportunity. Money (or whatever you want) is always made and lost when one is in a crisis and the other is in a position to take advantage of that :P

Ultimately, re the world situation, you never know when the US may engineer the next great proxy war against China to get out of their (the US) debt situation.... :P

P.S. Julie, politics is a good way to keep an idle mind occupied, since I no longer play VU, so I need an outlet for my evil machinations... :P Crushing OC was a bit too easy, eh (sorry, had to throw that jab in, haha) :P <3

08:25:02 Dec 6th 11 - Mr. Zenchi Senkusha IV:

Unfortunately people get elected by by trying to give the people what they want.  Unfortunately the people are very selfish and are easily bribed with their own money, or in most cases money from the rich.  There error is in the people, however this is cyclical because they people are messed up from a mixture of poor parenting and screwed up school systems, which is in turn based on political decisions and their parents...endless.

We humans have yet to find a good system that works for long periods of time.  Unfortunately the wise and intelligent are usually ignored for those whom are strong or charismatic.

Honestly I would prefer most of the republican candidates slightly more than Obama, history would have treated him much better if he stepped down for a better Democrat nominee.

22:58:53 Dec 6th 11 - Endless (Ms. Butter Croissant):

"Government is best which governs not at all; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have."

think that was Thoreau?

it's been a long time since I've been out of school :p

The system basically runs itself. It keeps the majority blissfully unaware of their slavery. And even when the slaves do get upset, they simply fight with their fellow slaves for different slavery conditions. After all, their slave education never taught them that they are slaves ;)
