Skype the new IRC | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Well since Skype has made IRC obsolete, I have made a 'public group chat thingy' for all to join! You can join the chat by clicking here: skype:?chat&blob=qxwWdedusJLNQf1zqjUKmLs1MfkxwbdAFYrARQwDTJ1KQTMN67ZuoIC1VU-WCV8 | ||||
>.>..... IRC obsolete? what blasphemy is this? :P please put down your hand so i may cut it from your body! :P IRC is still alive! :P Skype sucks :P >.< muahahha | ||||
skype is a clusterfuck for text chat and when i joined 2 other VU replated groups nobody was talking. What's the point of using skype if you won't use it to talk. | ||||
Skype is useless, not everyone wants to talk and to use it for text chat when you have IRC, which alot of vets are on and are always available for tips and advice, seems pointless...... | ||||
agreed i dont want to sit at my comp with a mic on talkling all day when i can do other things and just type occasionally :P | ||||
Lol, Skype group chat is exactly like IRC HOWEVER you do not have to be online. When you get online, all stuff that was said before gets send. You can make channels, op, deop, kick, voice all IRC can do but you dont have to be online and idle 24/7 And no, I dont talk to pple on skype, I chat! | ||||
ps. All 'vets' I know are on skype... | ||||
Yeah. That some former legacy members uses IRC doesn't mean that ALL vets does. | ||||
no it doesnt but the vast majority of what i consider Vets do. depends who you think are vet :) | ||||
can you "mute" the chat? i dont want to be playing a game and hear random people talking in the background :D | ||||
The vets I know all chat here: http://vetmedicine.about.com/mpchat.htm | ||||
you can make the status of skype " do not disturb" so there wont be any sounds from skype, or popping windows. If you are in conference(talking) you can mute, or just drop out. when you will get back, they can add you back to talking. | ||||
And by talking you dont mean produce sounds, you just chat with 30 pple... | ||||
07:17:26 May 16th 10 - Mr. Osiris: can you "mute" the chat? i dont want to be playing a game and hear random people talking in the background :D Well, yes to your question, but also the chats mostly done unless people are really bored is just text, no voice, 2/3rds or more of the people in the chats do not even have mics | ||||
All scrubs who think playing 10 eras constitutes them as vets use Skype. | ||||
Come to think about it, the problem scrubs tend to find with IRC is that it requires thought to set up. | ||||
Ok, right now: #VU on IRC: +Osiris +Thomaas +Mac ~Swifty Stirlin Ixis path Scientist +Salamon +onslaught +onslaught_almighty @Ez +roxbury +Cobra Ok, right now on skype: 30 VU pple online, all good and experienced players in my list. So go drop dead somewhere will you swifty! | ||||
wheres your list? | ||||
and yeah there are many more people in the kd chans on irc :P and its 14 ppl atm :/ | ||||
As I already said. It's survival of the fittest. The strongest, smartest invidiuals work out how to use IRC. | ||||
It is nothing about intelligence. There are only a few kids in VU who may not configure that your IRC. If you are telling that you are one of "The strongest, smartest invidiuals" only because you configured your IRC - I am sorry for you. You are not smarter at all - you're using uncomfortable program and think that those who are using new technology are dumb? For example: Do you also think that those who takes medicine when they are ill, instead of making religious ritual (as good old days) are stupid? Skype is newer more efficient and much more comfortable messenger. Also for many people messenger is not only for games. I personally prefer Skype, because all of my contacts and friends uses it. So why should I have second messenger eating my computer memory just for VU? | ||||
if you need to worry about something like irc "eating" your comp memory then you need a new comp ^^ | ||||
Well I have pretty good comp, but that's not a main reason for me. I just hate having lots of programs running in background. I have minimal numbers of programs and I'd like to keep that. | ||||
lmao, IRC eating comp memory, either you're running on a 386 or you're a moron. | ||||
Why make life harder on yourself? Using IRC is like going to milk a goat so you can drink your tea. | ||||
I have nothing against IRC tho I think its old fashioned. It reminds me of the days of pacman, and pacman isnt even there. | ||||
