Trojan Virus
09:32:12 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Opportunity:

Does anyone know how dangerous a trojan virus is??? if you do, what's the best way to get rid of one?

09:33:01 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Creepin Solo:

trojans are terrible...

and the best way, is to buy virus protection..

we just got some...
it is called Panda, seems to work really well.

11:00:18 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Kegstand Mcfarland:

Avast-Windows Defender is what I am using..both free and both seem to work well.

Adware SE also was awesome dunno if free anymore though.

I have had several malware detections caught by my anti-virus when clicking on random armies or cities in game...Add pop ups?

11:12:29 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Sucker of Sheepschlong:

If you are against malware you are against capitalism.

Commie......

11:17:08 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Creepin Solo:

Avast is good too, paid for ones are the best though...

Yeah I have had Malware detections too, not a clue what they are though

12:45:21 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

lol i member my old comp, i used to get trojan horses every single freakin day!!! By the end my comp wudnt even turn on anymore lol. BUt yeah my new comps fine, you should get mcafee total protection, it owns. Only ever ONE virus that has gotten through, and it put in the vault where it was automaticly deleted after 24 hours <(^.^)>.

13:45:49 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

I have Norton protection thingy. It recently blocked a hack attempt!

Yeah, that scared me too.

14:41:33 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Peacemakerofdoomhahahahaha:

i got AVG protection and Trend Microcillin, work'z great :P

15:13:34 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

my virus protection can actualy tell me WHERE the virus came from lol, once i got one from Los Angelas, it even gave me the street name  and door number rofl.

It say that quite a lot not nessesserly an actually hack attempt, probably just a program that wants to use the internet but is blocked in your allowed list.

17:35:40 Dec 4th 08 - WolfLord Durza Von Quagmire III:

17:39:17 Dec 4th 08 - Duke Argyle:

I suggest that you take out your harddrive (by hand) and then use a big hammer and sma*beep* in several peaces, then you toss the remains into a fire, hopefully, you wont be bothered by the trojans anymore, unless you have a home network and the freaking trojan moved over to the other computers in the network... Then you need to smash alot more harddrives.

This was actually suggested to me by my "computer science" teacher in high school... hammer + hard drive = no viruses or trojans.

17:49:54 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Fitesalot:

It depends on what kind of trojan you've gotten, if it's just a stupid adware trojan, there's plenty of freeware out there that will take care of it, afterwards you should install AVG virus protection.
But if you've gotten the full package: trojan downloaders, daemon malware(can control your computer, keep you out of admin privileges), link-jacking (you click on something and it brings up something else. Then it's time to get your important files on a flash stick and then nuke the b!tch. What I mean by that is totally wipe the hard drive and re-install the operating system (hopefully you or someone you know has a copy of windows xp).  And remember when you start over NOT to keep your C and D drives in the same format, re-format them or else there's a small possibility they'll just take over your computer again. Then install AVG virus protection and update the service packs.

19:46:46 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

AVG sux, that was my old one on my old comp. Seriously...dont use that. Macafee owns, its worth the cost.

19:57:31 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Hirgon:

Ugh, I've had the whole works - downloaders, malware, and awll.  Fitesalot's solution is the only one that worked.  Be sure to partition your harddrive so that you can dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu!

19:58:45 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Sinthoras:

I used to use AVG and then one day, my pc got swarmed :)
My internet wouldnt work anymore, thus no google or anything to search a solution. Windows firewall shut off and when I turned it back on, after a few minutes it would go back off :) The same with automatic updates :S
There were some more problems but these were the serious ones. When I scanned my pc with AVG it found 13 trojans :)
But the problems stayed. Then a friend advised Kaspersky. So I got it and tried it out. After scanning for hours, it turned up with 22955 trojans :S and 6 real virusses :P Also pletny of adware and Riskware.
Good thing is though that since scanning, all my problems are gone :D
So I advice Kaspersky ;)

20:07:29 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

I had a trojan problem...so I got some Greeks and they made a wooden horse...and you know the rest ;)

Agree on McAfee. That works.

But do only install the two most vital parts - virusscan and firewall. The "parant"part and *beep* protection is nothing but annoying add-ons (ressource demanding programs).

22955!?!??O_O

21:07:44 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Could be adware trojans...unless they were serious as he said...

21:11:32 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

i think it meant it infected 22955 files, sumhow i doubt that there wud be that many trojan adware/viruses...

21:30:22 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

Ah...that probably is it...

21:32:56 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Thermite:

Best Way ~

  1. Download AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0
  2. Use Updates feautre as there normally is some after downloading it
  3. Restart your comp but in SafeMode F8
  4. Run AVG virus Scan " Command Line Scan "
  5. Repeat Step 3 + 4 a few times

Hope that helps

21:44:32 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Sinthoras:

Since were talking about computers now, what is about the best site for uploading images? The one I used to use doesnt work anymore :(

21:51:17 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Thermite:

www.Photobucket.com

21:55:56 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Sinthoras:

Finally! My old site works again :)

Here, decide for yourself whether it were 22955 files or trojans ;)

22:08:11 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Thermite:

Kaspersky is crap

AVG eats it, thats why

23:03:15 Dec 4th 08 - Mr. Barney:

I think you need to start looking at safer porn.

23:44:15 Dec 4th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus:

That is always a good suggestion ;)

Everyone will have their own opinions about the greatest software out there, but in general, getting the free version of AVG and keeping it updated is pretty safe, you have to go to some reaaally shady porn sites for AVG to get swarmed (if kept updated).

09:10:19 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Sinthoras:

It wasnt even a porn site :P
It was a download of some sort :S
For once I download something and immediately I get swarmed :P

14:34:33 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

fitesalot AVG SUCKS! I advise anything BUT AVG, seriously...McAfee ownssssss. Never been successfully attacked by a virus, they always get vaulted or deleted immediately, and on top of that McAfee actually tells me what sites are safe and what arent with a green tick or a red cross before I even go into the site.

On my old comp when it got attacked by viruses my AVG did SQUAT! I got it from a game cheat site, I knew there was somethin wrong with it but I didnt think much of it. In the end the comp wudnt even turn on anymore, so we chucked it down the stairs a few times, then hit it with a hammer to make sure it had no chance of being fixed, then we sent it off to our insurance company sayin we "dropped it" and they gave us this rly expensive one that im using now, rofl.

18:04:33 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Fitesalot:

I advise anything BUT AVG, seriously
*rolls eyes* look, people get really protective of what software they think is  "the best", but avg is a helluva lot better than nothing, but if you have another preference, great. And avg does the same thing with  a check or an x by the site link... but whatever.

McAfee is good also. I guess whatever floats your boat, the main point is that if you don't get some decent virus protection on your computer (and keep it updated), then you'll just keep getting stuff on your computer, that's all I was trying to say.

20:05:28 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

wel i had AVG an i stil saw my comp die to viruses...lol

20:22:20 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Fitesalot:

yes I think we picked up on that :)

04:25:51 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Onomatopoeia:

Download Firefox, it's better at making sure you don't have to deal with that sort of stuff in the future.

Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or SUPERAntiSpyware. Should be fine after that. Malwarebytes is better at finding Trojans then SAS.

Get rid of Kapersky to. SLows down your computer. If you want just use AVG.

I have AVG...never been attacked by viruses. Stop downloading porn people! If you're that desperate, then go get a five dollar hooker. Then again...that'll give you a virus of a different sort. >=D

21:20:47 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness:

lol i dnt watch prn im 13, geez, i got my viruses from a cheat site, i kinda thought it was abit of a weird site but it had the game cheats I wanted so i didnt think nutin of it
