It is quite obvious to anyone who has been online throughout the rise of Youtube and Twitch and Twitter that in recent years 'the fanatic' or 'fan' has become a much larger demographic. | ||||
We are tribal by nature. We have been since the dawn of time, as we needed it to survive. The tribal nature can be seen in our sports and music preferences, and has now spilled onto social media. | ||||
Mr. Fcukr: What he said… We as human, have a need to be part of something. Because family of a tribe means more change of survival. Survival means not dying. It’s instinct on a biological level. mIRC was a the best chat client. I think it was better than Skype and did a better job than Twitch Chats that copied the formula. | ||||
Why has the word ‘cult’ been used? As a professor of cults (my day job!) - I’m always up for a decent discussion about the topic. Fanaticism doesn’t need to be used in tandem though. | ||||
