Hi. Just lost my main army due to a ridiculously super powered bombard attack. I have bombarded once with 167 catapults and rolled a super low dice ~ under 0.15% and that killed 17k buildings on a large city. But the damage to my army on this bombard was 200% !! The army in question had about 80k-100k troops and maybe 15-35k injured, or less. I believe Horus or Siegfried may chime in later. ---- The army was Heresy. And It never technically died.. 10:02:33 - Fudge lead by Sir Horus al forcefully returned Supple to Sir Horus al. We lost 0 Gaia, 0 Hammerthrowers, 0 Ogres, 0 Shamans, 0 Nazguls and 0 peasants in the battle. 09:34:45 - Perilous of Hammer and Shield bought 1200000 tree for 1800000 gold from you on the market. 08:39:22 - Perilous of Hammer and Shield bought 800000 tree for 1200000 gold from you on the market. 08:33:02 - Perilous of Hammer and Shield bought 4000000 tree for 6000000 gold from you on the market. 08:02:56 - All men in Heresy have died! 08:02:56 - All men in Kleek have died! 07:12:07 - We received a message from Sir Horus al of Pestilence. 07:08:30 - We received a message from Mr. Siegfried The Bearded. 07:05:22 - Our Heresy successfully defend Supple. Knightmare lead by Mr. Siegfried The Bearded bombarded Supple but with our help we managed to stop them before the city was destroyed. We lost 18599 Gaia, 0 Hammerthrowers, 33832 Ogres, 47799 Shamans, 1955 Nazguls and 0 peasants in the battle and 102185 of our soldiers got injured. 07:05:22 - Our Kleek successfully defend Supple. Knightmare lead by Mr. Siegfried The Bearded bombarded Supple but with our help we managed to stop them before the city was destroyed. We lost 0 Gaia, 0 Hammerthrowers, 186 Ogres, 0 Shamans, 15 Nazguls and 0 peasants in the battle and 201 of our soldiers got injured. 07:05:22 - Knightmare lead by Mr. Siegfried The Bearded bombarded Supple and destroyed 1 walls and 6 buildings before our soldiers managed to stop the attack. We lost 0 Gaia, 0 Hammerthrowers, 0 Ogres, 0 Shamans, 0 Nazguls and 0 peasants in the battle. 06:03:17 - All troops in Cats III have died. 06:03:17 - Cats III lost a battle against Pauldron from Mr. Siegfried The Bearded. We lost 0 Gaia, 0 Hammerthrowers, 0 Ogres, 0 Shamans, 9 Nazguls and 0 peasants in the battle and 0 of our soldiers got injured. 05:01:26 - Heresy lost a battle against Sto from Sir Horus al. I’ve done bombard testing, and if troops were stationed in city you would lose at max around 40% of your troops. I didn’t think to test it with troops in army… But based on that data series, it didn’t look like a bombard could ever fully kill an enemy, only a full attack could. Unless other details come up, as of now this does sound like a bug. I can work with JD on GvE though to test that scenario
Thanks, I do believe that bombard maybe killing 100% troops. While also showing 100% injured. And this is for the same troops ie. I have 120k troops in an army. I get bounced (losing 20k troops) to a 300 building city someone has full prep on, That person bombards me with a good roll, I supposedly defend the city but = 100k killed and 100k injured and army is gone and <6% damage to city ---- This army was only 102k size 07:05:22 - Our Heresy successfully defend Supple.
I have no idea what happened there, he did click bombard, and it wasn't even intentional - just an accident... that being said I do not understand what happened with the troops killed
I can show logs where troops were killed, and no matter how many catapults attacker had or troops the defender had, it was always 40% killed (or a % near there, I’d have to look at the data set). But again, that was troops housed, troops in army could (and seem to) operate slightly different.
I'm terribly sorry Mr. Siegfried The Bearded. But we have lost the battle. Our catapults managed to destroyed 1 walls and 6 buildings before they charged at us. We killed or injured a total of 204772 enemy troops. This was what I got on my end. I was check the % of attack and my dog nose booped the bombard command...
Lost everything. 50k swords, 45k archers, 10k MUs and 8k catapults.
There is a dilemma about the bombard attack... If you see eight thousand catapults preparing to bomb your city, are you just gonna sit and wait, or are you going to exit the "protection" of the city and charge the catapults ? It's difficult to make the bombard attack useful without overpowering it.
In that scenario, I would propose the following as a basis for discussion: * bombard would knock down up to 100% of the walls, based on # cats and # walls. For Crush Walls, it takes a certain amount of magic power to crush 1 wall, so can use the same base mechanic for cats * bombard would kill a limited number of troops housed inside the city, if any. Can make it like EQ/RoF, where the only troop deaths are due to over housing * bombard would destroy up to 40% of all building types, where # destroyed is based on # cats. However, walls should be easier to destroy. If you say 10 cats = 1 wall destroyed, it should take something like 40 cats to destroy 1 building, up to a max of 40% of the city size * in this way, troops don’t clash, only cats and T2 (ranged) troops do. Make that cat vs ranged fight happen like a normal battle, ignoring all other troop types * if troops want to clash, either attacking army will do a proper assault on the city, or the defending army will come out to meet them. So don’t allow a normal battle to happen if the attacker chooses bombard. * because of this, make bombard difficulty scale based on T2 troops and GTs, though amplify T2 effectiveness due to defending from behind walls (only for bombard calcs). This will put a heavier emphasis on keeping some T2 troops around in big cities if a Human is in the area, and give a legit reason to have cats * don’t touch prep time, as cats should have to prep for the assault like any other, just operating on a different chance scaling. Kinda like Steal Food in some ways In the scenario of 8k cats on the hill looking down over your city, if they start firing, I’d fire stuff back, but wouldn’t start a full-scale fight unless they were in range. Otherwise your basically just under siege with them throwing big rocks from a long distance. In which case the defender should choose to attack or not. I personally vote Bombard should effectively be a ranged vs ranged battle
