22:03:17 May 31st 07 - Mr. Dingleberry Dave: You don't necessarily have to use or download mIRC itself to hang out on the server. A better question would be: utonet server or the VU chat. The utonet server is what most of us use, and the program to get there mIRC. However there are other ways to talk on utonet without having to download mIRC itself, such as java applets. In any case, in terms of functionality, mIRC beats the VU chat hands down. Hence why in 99% of all cases, those who if given the choice of mIRC or the VU chat, pick mIRC, whereas those who are unable to use miRC/havent used it before, use VU chat. And Mr.Iwasfrozen, your point is stupid. You'll be damned if you'll let mIRC ruin this game? We have used mIRC with this game ever since the game was created, which means it has been around for years in VU with no problems. mIRC doesn't ruin games, if anything games profit off them as it adds a whole new dimension to communication.

22:54:41 May 31st 07 - VU Admin: What about if I make the VU chat use IRC commands so that it can be connected to via (your holy) mIRC client? The advantage with the VU chat is however that it has a javascript and html based client so that you can use any browser to connect to it (no downloads).
22:57:40 May 31st 07 - Mr. Supercalifragilistic: People do talk, but not on a drop of a coin. Join, wait and it will pick up. Besides most of the chatting is done in private channels or in PM and less in #vu main chat, though it does happen. EDIT: VU had a java applet and I dont know why you removed it, it only hindered new players that wanted to join IRC, nobody that uses mirc was ever bothered.
22:58:52 May 31st 07 - Mr. Dingleberry Dave: You don't need to download mIRC to connect to utonet though. mIRC is the client, the real question should be as I said, utonet.org vs the VU chat. People can still connect to utonet through java applets similiar to the VU chat, such as the one at www.utonet.org, or the java applet at www.utopiatemple.com, but in terms of functionality, mIRC is the better option given that it is much broader and much more can be done with it. I mean, just having a public chat and a kingdom channel can only go so far. But for those who want more, mIRC/utonet is better imo.

02:32:50 Jun 1st 07 - Mr. Dakarius: I would love to use VU chat, because that's where the majority of my kd goes, the only problm is it refuses to work properly on my computer (probably because of my sukie internet). As it is I like mIRC, it has more options, I can get on it, and more vets are there. Now if only I can get my kd on it I will be set. Better than both is msn messenger, the only problem is not everyone has it. GET MSN!

13:04:28 Jun 1st 07 - Mr. Fireforge: Vu chat sux, not only do you have to share everything you say with absolutely everybody on the chat (not good when you want to speak semi-privately) but you also have to put up with the severe childishness of alot of fools. last time i looked at the general Vu chat there was some fool focused on dissing anybody who spoke, which can be pretty funny to read but very counter productive if you have something to say.
