People alive

When you click at Worlds, to see what worlds are open, where to join
I noticed the "alive" section, what does that actually mean?
10% of players on Mantrax are alive, and on Zetamania 9% of people are alive?
What are others, dead already? When I look at Highscores they are all still in protection, no battles, no kills... How is that possible?

Mantrax	Open		5000²	karta3	2	466	10%
Zetamania	Open		5000²	karta6	7	533	9%

Alive section is the % of total users to the amount of players playing on the map. And if you see no stats on the highscores, then it is either that they are in protection mode or that everyone is farming and havent attacked each other.
