The Trolls

So, I was looking at trolls... and they seem to have some pretty awesome combat units. Now, I normally don't see people playing as trolls.

Most trolls farm era away. Get army of the dead. Farm berserker armies. then fight mid/late era. And use AOTD to bring them back.

People claim its because they are only good that way, when it all comes down too. They want the easiest way to win. Instead of fighting non stop for it. But, some people like to farm.

Honestly the entire game has come down to farming. So many kds sit back and farm.. then come in with mega armies. And they mostly all sign NAP with larger ones and fight smaller ones.


Not very fun, i hate farming and hate NAP's.

Reason i prefer to just do my own thing. Least i die having fun fighting :)

trolls are a very good balanced race, thats my personal opinion.


if you have a very good mage that can aotd your berzeker army, and you got a lot of mu's you can be pretty much invincible for some time until someone shows up with a way bigger army or magic power.

I prefer to wage war, farming is boring. :)

Trolls are among the best races since they are good all era. Saying you have to farm, get army of the dead etc are just excuses for pansies :P

Agree with Tyr. Trolls are among if not the best race to be warlike the whole era.

I find less people go troll as more people want to win so they will go halfer. Then if you want to be a late attacker you would generally go elf as they are generally the best late era (If played correctly)

As pure said trolls seldom get on the hoh, tho I have a tendency to have my army up there lol, im kinda bloodthirsty ;)
But usually its almost all halfers and sometimes a human or dwarf..

As i play as a troll quite often.

People could farm and amass an army but the building costs sucks for a Troll.

Basically build income and then an armory, are pretty decent for OOP to help defend those whom are farming. Level 1 troops before OOP, Level 2 and/or 3 troops after OOP. Trolls income increases when more cities are captured. Beserks slowly at beginning and full blown when you have a decent income. My Troll was HoH within the week and for the next couple of weeks until others (farmers) begin to greatly improve. Being able to get AoTD with a zerk army is greatly beneficial. They aren't usually great after the era is done, but is a decent wrecking force if you can play it well.

Troll is an awesome attacking race, I think best way to play Trolls is to keep attacking and taking enemy cities. Elves, Humans, Dwarfs all have better farming abilities with their building into terrain and 200k cities, so I think they can do it better. 


I think both Orcs and Trolls are better when they are all era attackers, taking cities and just keep advancing into enemy territory. I always thought that military is the science to go with Orcs and Trolls, I dont know how you guys get AOTD ability after getting military as high as possible, I am thinking level 9, its possible.

Trolls have the best units for the cost, so if you manage to take income cities from enemies your armies are supposed to be much better then enemy armies. 

I dont really know if there any tricks that Trolls can do, as they are the only race that does not have anything special about them, other than they chop more wood. So I have seen people building tons of lumbermills so they have alot of tree, and at oop it all sells, making them lots of income. Only other thing they have special is Mages have 1 offense, so building mages is good, gives you magic defense and also some attack power :)

Trolls were taken out of building into the trees and was replaced for only Elves. I dont think Trolls get a lumber bonus anymore. AOTD abilities are left with the elves, but when they do cast them on us, we get a good significant of the lost troops back.

Trolls still get lumber bonus. But, honestly, if you wanted to be an attacker, Orcs seem to have more advantages. Sure, it costs more, but half training time? Shit. I'd take that any day. Excuse me if some of this doesn't make sense, im a new player lol

Being an orc requires a lot of activity in order to play well as an oop attacker

And its harder to get a strong but still cost efficient army.

Btw, my orc sciences are usually these, I get them in the order I present them:

Mili 7-8
mining 5-6
med 4-5
farming

They depend on the situation etc.
Sure you can get mili 9 but the cost is enourmous and will increase the other sciences by a lot and delay the time you get them by A LOT.

 Ive played troll abit i only go to mil 7 then usually try for magic 4-6 then mining and med. but its costly and depends on the situation.. also era length i believe comes into it as well. getting magic 6 after mil is very costly to a troll that doesnt make much per tic. but a troll with thier own ability to do aotd really can come in handy.. you can hit an enemy core and not need to wait for magic support, or take/make an mc and mage for a bit(letting others catch up if your too far ahead).. but everyone has thier own style of play.. oh and as aisha mentioned trolls have no speed, so when i really need to get op fast to another area.  I move small armies each tic from my arms (enemy mages will waste alot of mus trying to freeze alot of small armies. also shows the enemy your super active and might confuse them to your activity times).. also scouts, scout jumps and 1 gt jump cities are crucial too. especially jump cities so as to not be frozen in the middle of nowhere..

About magic, I let the mages handle the aotds, thats what they are there for :)
And I totally agree with the scout merging, sending small armies etc.

 Yeah but like i said each person has thier own style.. though at alot of times our mages arent there when needed, you may have to do an important strike on an army that just might save you or your kingdom (and thats where having your own magic counts).. also the distance can be too far for them to cast..

True. I often play in pretty organized kds with players that know their stuff, it kinda helps, so my oppiinion is kind of a fant/top 3 worlds one.
