Topics Locked/Deleted

What is it that determines when I thread in the forum should be deleted instead of locked? Is it content based? is it up to a moderators feelings? does deleted threads end up in some old thread graveyard?

The question came to me in this recent events concerning water, osiris and earth and where most threads just got deleted and not locked.

I would be very happy if a moderator would like to answer this question.

threads are not often deleted they are moved to where you cant see them. Locked or moved depends on the content of the thread and if locking it stops anything Ie Thread 2 appearing after thread 1 is locked.

Different mods will do different things. different mods feel differently about the same thread as obviously everyone is different :)

It is up to the moderator whether the topics be locked, deleted or moved to a logged threads section of the forum.
In this case, the threads are in the logged threads section and can be brought back.
If they are deleted, then nothing can be done to bring them back.......

The reason these threads were removed was due to them being locked, for one reason or another, and then people continually just created a new thread with exactly the same content........which was locked in the first place.........

If locking a thread doesn't sort the problem then what other option is given to us other than to remove the said threads for a period of time.......they will be restored, that I can assure you...........

So which moderator deleted the thread concerning Water, Osiris and Earth? And for what reason? Care to kindly explain?

no one deleted it. sp@mfighter locked them gave his explanation and someone else moved it.

As stated above, they can be brought back at any time........

Carbon, I moved them to avoid having constant repeats of threads clogging up the forums...........
I understand some of you were annoyed at what happened, but to continually create a duplicate copy of a thread which had been locked by a mod, with a reason is not the way to go about it........

I will release them from logged threads tomorrow at some point......but if more of the same thing keeps happening then they will be moved back again..........
If you have an issue with Osi for what he did, take it up with Zeta........

Thanks for the explanation Lord Scientist. However, it would have been better if someone made a thread in the politics forums explaining the reason why threads were moved. Some of us were assuming that Osiris was abusing his powers again (well, we had good reason to).

Well, we tried the 'taking it up with Zeta route'. Naturally of course, good chap Osiris is more influential than us, so we couldn't do anything. Demolishing Retribution on the other hand.......

Us mods have been considering for some time creating a thread to post about which threads we've deleted posts in and such, but it is just deciding which forum to create said thread in........after all, we moderate all forums and have to delete stuff all the time.........

what abotu posts like this one im about to make? i know these can be deleted because Spook said something in the Carnage Embassy forum and it was deleted but it wasnt a bad post or flame, it was kind of saying that carange is still alive and it was deleted. then t posted and now he looks dumb

That is up to the person who deleted that specific post, I do not know who did so cannot comment on why it was deleted.........

As stated, the threads have been restored........if more get made and end up needing to be locked, I will just delete them all.........

Mr Opportunity, because for a large part this whole thing is ridiculous... I mean Sp@m is a 'banned' word? Come on, you let people bully, harass and say things which border on the illegal to even post on the internet (at least in some countries) and sp@m is a banned word??? Let me give you a word... Consistency.... just make it fair and keep to some basic guidelines... sometimes new ppl do actually read the forums and when they see some of the things that are going on they are turned off.... Only Zeta and the Moderators can monitor and fix this, if he (Zeta) wants VU to grow and prosper he needs to clean his own house.... Don't just delete the multi's, ban the IRL for ever... But Scientist is right, though I have a question... aren't there dynamic IPs, which constantly change? How can you block those if they're not always the same...?

lol...Opportunity he is talking about a LOT more than just your topic. Maybe if you actually read everything he writes instead of just a few sentences and assuming things......hes mainly talking about multis....
