Battle and interlect
20:25:19 Jan 8th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

Ok, this game is a mixture of several different things. You must guide your armies to victory, in one place, while reaching an agrrement of peace in another. you can debate over issues, and the winner gets a bonus to their army. below is the game in more detail:

Armies:

everyone starts with a army of five thousand men, with no paricular abilities apart from basic fighting skills. this can be expanded however if debates are won. the reward for the debate winner will be decided upon when the debate is posted.

Negotiatations:

You can reach agreements with other players tio hep each other. To do this you must say how much of your army you will 'lend' out to help your ally whenever he requests it. other things like this must be decided upon by the two people forming a alliance.

Battles:

for your battles, you must post in this thread what you do in the battle, and the opponent then says a move they do. then all the others players, after a set amount of moves have been made, decide amongst themselves who is the victor.

Quests:

To prove your worth, you may go on quests. to go on a quest you post that you want one, then two to five quests to choose from will be presented to you. after you have completed the quest you get a bonus for your army. to compleete the quest you must post how you complete the quest. If you tell the tale well and in a good roleplaying style then you get the bonus. if not then you recieive nothing

The bonuses:

The bonuses will vary greatly depending on how they are earned. it may be a new weapon, new armour or new troops, it coudl be anything. even a tin of C.B

Dont mind how many people play as it is every man for himself. as many as I can get really, will start the game when I think we have enough players

20:26:17 Jan 8th 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

I just think its going to be hard to implement thats all

16:26:59 Jan 10th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

could be.....but I think it is ok, as it is not like people have to do certain things at certain times. they can go to war, go on quests when availible, have alliances and stuff, but it is not OVER complicated, as you dont have to do verything at once. to make it easier to start I will put up something to get it going, a quest or a debate maybe. that reminds me, I could do with some help when it comes to choosing debates...

18:35:17 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

ok people, we have six players, I woud like to have maybe ten. But in the meantime we can get going a bit, though still accept new people for a lil while I think. Below is the message board:

Warrior wanted

warrior wanted to go on a quest, reward is new weaponry for them and if they have one their army. the weaponry may be chosen by the person who completes the quest.

the quest: Go into the mountains, and find the tribe of bararians that live there. they have been getting restless, and need to be pput in their place. shake them up a bit, and bring me one of their heads.

signed

Sir Alban

Lord of the mountains of the west

Debate! is the longbow more effective than the crossbow, or muskets better than them both!?

one person is wanted to debate in favour of one of the weapons! winner gets one hundred cavalry to add to their army!

[I know one hundred cavalry is not exactly what you would get from that kind ofthing normally, but I wanted to make it smething worthwile.]

18:43:34 Jan 11th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

And are you asking effectiveness as a weapon or as a tool of war? (IE: Battle effectiveness, or accuracy/ROF)
As a weapon, I would vote Longbow, as a tool of war, the Musket.

Also, the Light Division is marching off, with it's characteristic slouching stride, to deal with these barbarians.

20:17:48 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

*Might sets his Cow Horde to work marching*

Crossbow FTW! Crossbows can pierce armor and it makes the lowly peasant dangerous unlike the bow which requires training.

20:47:24 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Killer:

  1. might- Delta Cows
  2. Erunion- The light division
  3. Septim: The Cidellian legions
  4. Clamps- Screaming-baby Golems
  5. Revenge- Cornbeef legionairs
  6. Verll- Weeeeeeee
  7. Killer - Killers
*Killer marches along in front of his army. They seem badly prepared, having just been taken from a town as recruits. He sees the poster, for a warrior wanted. "Right, listen up! Every other man around here will probably go for this, so I think we'll stay here for a while".*

I'll go for the longbow or the musket, whichever one Erunion isn't picking in the debate. Sorry for this late joining, I was just considering it...

21:07:55 Jan 11th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

Because of it's overall efficiency, I choose the musket.
It's accuracy is similar to that of a crossbow or a longbow, it's effective range is similar to a crossbow, but shorter than a longbow. It's rate of fire is greater than a crossbow, but less than a longbow. However, of the three it is by far the easiest to produce and takes the least time to train effectively, has the greatest damage and armour penetration.

A longbow takes a lifetime of training to be effective, a crossbow takes a few weeks, and a musket takes a few days. The musket can pierce any armour of the time, the longbow and crossbow each could pierce most of the times armour. A musket has an effective range of 100 metres, the longbow 350 metres, and the crossbow 100-150 metres. With proper training, each has similar accuracy. A Longbow takes weeks to produce, and is made of supplies that become rapidly depleted and are hard to come by. A Crossbow is about the same. A musket can be made in a matter of hours, with resources easily come by. A Longbow takes about 5 seconds to fire accurately, a musket 15 seconds, a crossbow any where from 20 seconds to a minute, depending on crank used and skill of user. The longbowman and crossbowman each had to use a sword or other such thing for self defense, this took time and meant they couldn't fire when in combat, and were slaughtered by charging cavalry. A musket has a bayonet attached, which means the can fight effectively in hand to hand, fire in a melee, and slaughter cavalry.

Musket; excellent penetration, okay range, fantastic for close range, good accuracy, fair rate of fire, mass produced and equipped.
Crossbow; fair range, decent accuracy, useless at close range, must have other weapon and training for it, takes time to produce, fairly easy to use.
Longbow; Excellent range, very good rate of fire, decent accuracy, useless for self-defense, must have other weapon and training for it, takes ages to build, and even longer to train.

Overall impression. Longbows are good, but can't handle the numbers necessary for effectiveness, crossbow is just a pile of mediocrity, musket is decent with one man, and fantastic due to proper tactics and sheer weight of numbers.

I prefer the longbow, but the musket wins hands down.

08:41:45 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Meowman:

Well I'm used to RPs were u go on a long quest with a small group of 5-20 ppl, and are on ur own, or have a crew which is just there and is useless most of the time, but gives the story realism (for an example of an exalent quest RP, see The Stormborn). This might be a lost cause, but I think I'll give it a go...

11:21:00 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

k meowman. and you know about the quest, it said WARRIOR wanted, not warior and his army. the warrior goes on the quest alone. and about the debate, I gather that we have

Musket: Erunion

Longbow: Killer

Crossbow: Might

Apart from Erunion no-one has started the debate, so please post your part of it if taking part. As for the quest again, only one person gets to do it, so Erunion is the warrior on the quest as he posted for it first.

I just saw that u only started RPing a week ago! lol.....

anyway, what is your army name meowman?

11:48:49 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Meowman:

yes I did only start RPing a week ago, but I have been followin RPs for longer. And they will be called... ermmm... 'The Ankart Legionaries'! (That name came to my head completly randomly...)

16:26:33 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Killer:

Hmmmm... that will be tough to beat. Erunion said pretty much everything anyway...

The longbow is, in my opinion, much more effective than the crossbow, which, is about as hard to make, slightly less powerful in general, but quicker rate of fire, more accurate, can't hold as much ammo, but easier to retrieve. It's worse than the crossbow for close range fighting, slightly. Overall, a better weapon.

The longbow is a better weapon in some aspects than the musket, and worse in others, and depends on your view if it's a better weapon. Anyway, it has a quicker rate of fire, less ammo, worse short ranged weapon. Longer to make, quicker reload. It's less powerful, longer range, for accuracy anyway. If used properly, capable of being the better weapon with medium - long range, but worse for near range. Though it takes longer to make, I think it is the better weapon overall, but very slightly. Due to the fact of it's slow production, it's slightly worse, but more effective if you have the time, I think.

17:25:59 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

Ok, so far Erunion is winning. might, if you want to win you are going to have to produce a extremely good piece of debate work.

After everyone has posted their initial reasons for their chosen weapon, then you can challenge each others summaries and such, debate about it basically

[duh]

20:47:16 Jan 12th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

Ok, this is a new thing that a might add in if it is seen as a good idea.

Skill levels: You can up your own skill levels, and your armies. to up yor armies costs five times as much as it would for you, since there are a lot of peeps in the armies. Skills are:

1) morale: your soldiers fight better, as they are happier to be fighting

2) cunning: allows you to steal for you and your troops. stealing can be successful sometimes, sometimes not, but a higher skill level for this means that you have more chance of success. the larger the thing you steal the mor chance of being caught

3) reasoning: when you come back from quests you get a chance to get somthing added to the reward. each level up gives a 5 percant chance of getting better rewards

Prices:

Morale:

level one: ten gold

level two: 20 gold

level three 30 gold

and so on, apart from level ten, the best level, which costs 150 gold.

Cunning:

each level up costs fifteen gold more than the last. max level fifteen. first level is only ten gold

reasoning: same as cunning

the first level up you choose costs five gold less than it would normally cost

12:16:45 Jan 13th 08 - Mr. Meowman:

How much gold do we start with?

12:28:38 Jan 13th 08 - Sir Revenge:

0 ?

15:28:30 Jan 13th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

oh yeah...lol. start with only ten gold. way to get more:

steal some

could be a quest reward, or debate reward.

work (maybe, not sure bout that one yet)

anyway, continue with the game folks. Erunion, you have a quest to go on, Umbr, you have a debate pieece to write.

and remember you can propose alliances or go to war at anytime you want

15:40:00 Jan 13th 08 - Sir Revenge:

I am going to war against Septim { As always these days }
I will spend my 10 on Morale

ATTACK!

15:49:51 Jan 13th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

k......

*away to the far east, of septim, the tramp of boots reaches his ears. then revenges army come into site. they stop, and prepare their battle tactics*

[so you post here what you do, all non-combatants (the other players) vote on who wins after....say, 48 hours? or longer if neccessary]

16:17:30 Jan 13th 08 - Sir Revenge:

Revenge gathers 300 of his best soldiers to fight the Septims, selecting only those who have already sired male children, so that their family name can continue even after their death. As they march north, they are joined by a group of Revenge's other troops and other troops. Arriving at the narrow cliffs of Thermopylae, in sight of the Septim army, they build a wall to contain the Septims' advance immediately in front of their position.
Before the battle starts, the Septims ask that the 300 drop their arms. Revenge responds: "Septim! Come and get them!"
" THIS IS REVENGETOPIA!"
