20:39:31 Oct 15th 07 - Mr. Killer: Ok... Right... This thread is for debates. We'll have (maybe) certain people debating against each other. I'm hoping to have 16 players anyway (this won't happen, I know...) and 5 judges. The 5 judges give their vote to whoever, and it's the person with the most scores wins (Obviously...). Each person can pick any topic in the whole world, excluding anything stupid, sexist(though this might make an interesting topic, so you're allowed use this, but nothing competely stupid.), racist, ageist or any other stupid things. This is how it works (having 8 players so I won't have to write out more...): Player 1 picks a topic(ummm...) ice-creams are nice(...). Player 6 disagrees with this, so he says so, and plays against this Player 1 dude. Player 1 wins this debate(we all knew he would, not even a complete beep could lose this...). So he goes through to the next round. Player 2 picks a topic, player 3 disagrees with it, plays him and player 3 wins. etc. So player 1,3,7,8 go through. Then player 3 picks a topic, player 8 disagrees with it, and plays him, and player 8 wins. Player 7 wins against 1. Then player 7 wins. Scoring: Judge 1:gives one point to who he thinks made the best debate speech, Judge 2: does the same, etc. Say in the Player 1 V 6 debate, the Player 1 gives his debate speech first, then the Player 6 does the same. Then Player 1 says can say blah blah about some sentence in Player 6's speech, and point out some things wrong with it. Then Player 6 answers them. Player 6 says blah blah about Player 1's speech, and Player 1 answers them. They can both only one post for each thing, and they will be judged accordingly (I hope) on all of them. So, good luck if you join, bad luck in your era if not. Players Judges Killer Killer Just copy this and leave whichever one blank you don't want to do. You can do both of course(if we get enough judges that is.). If we have 7 or more judges the judges can play(we put on substitute judges.). There will be 5 main judges, and the others can act as substitues. Post any questions as well. The debates will start 21 of October, Sunday coming (hopefully).

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, if judges leave they have to be substituted, and if players leave they lose... If they manage to get in a part of their debate, well depends on how absolutely fantastic it is, but they'll probably lose.

Maybe more. We'll have a few going at the same time. I would really like a min. of 8 player, and there is already enough judges, but another 2 substitute judges would be nice.

I need another player though, either one of the judges(who stays a judge as well.) or a new person, and another judge would be nice.(but a player is more important, but if a new person feels like entering, please do so, and become a player AND a judge, or either one if they don't want to...)

20:47:37 Oct 20th 07 - Mr. Killer: Ok, I better explain the time, so: (note: these aren't the actual times, I'm not sure about them yet.) 3 days: players pick topic they want, and other players pick what topic they want to challenge(first person to challenge plays, and only one topic per person at a time). When everyone is sorted out we'll start. Say Player 1 v --> Player 1 Player 6 V --> Player 7 Player 5 v --> Player 7 Player 7 V --> Player 4 wins! Player 8 v --> Player 8 Player 2 V --> Player 4 Player 3 v --> Player 4 Player 4 When players pick their topics, the first person (I'll pick these at random, I'll roll a dice or something, including my own, don't worry I won't cheat.) has 3 days to post his debate, then the other player has 3 days to post his. Then, the first player has 2 days to post questions about the other player's debate, then the second player has 2 days to post questions about the first player's debate. Then, the first person has 1 day to reply to those questions. Then the second has 1 day to reply to the questions. At last, the judges score points, and have 2 days to do this. So that's a total of a fortnight to finish the debate, which seems pretty reasonable. So this may be the times, but I'm not sure. Then the same happens again for the next set of players. All debates will be on at the same times. Judges will decide who to give their vote to from looking at ALL parts of it, don't be lazy :P Good luck all, especially me!

20:54:28 Oct 20th 07 - Mr. Killer: Hmmmm... If you want to lose, yes. You are aware, I hope, that judges are players, and might know some players. Would be risky. Also, when picking a debate, you have to write the topic name down in proper English, otherwise some people might not understand you. And no, you can't, I don't want any insults hurled about in this thread, apart from maybe at the person you're debating with, though judges look at everything, and judge on everything. At least me anyway.

If one person just flames the other and adds nothing to the debate, even if they are in the right, and I know it, I will give the other person the win, because they debated intelligently. Say, if Arguer #1 said that the moon gives off light, and put forth a reasoned argument for it, and the other person just yelled and called arguer #1 names, even though I know that it is the sun that gives off light, and the moon only reflects it, I would say that Arguer #1 was the victor.

Right, to start, pick a topic(as long as it's not offensive, it can be VERY lightly offensive, but nothing stupid.) or challenge someone who has already picked a topic. I want to get started as soon as possible, so if you've not got one in 5 days playing with another person, I'll pick something for you. Ask any questions here, and good luck!
