The Xerillian Grand Empire had always dominated the planet of Ersos, had always beaten down the rebels when they rose, always put out the flames of rebellion, but this flame would not be put out, this flame grew into a towering inferno that contended with the power of Xerillia itself. The rebellion started in the small town of Vos, outside of the major city of Ceron. That was where the flame began.
Septim sat in his chair reading a text written by the famous philosopher Claudius Cosnol. As he turned the old page he heard a noise outside, he walked to the window and saw a group of six soldiers pestering an old man. "Old man, give us the treasure your son found!", yelled the guard leader. "No! My son found it, it is not yours!", said the old man Septim recognised as Cecil, the town storyteller. "You will give it to us! We are Xerillian Imperial guards and we demand that it be surrendered!", yelled the guard. "Over my dead body!", yelled Cecil. "As you wish!", yelled the guard as he drew his blade, he stabbed it into Cecil's chest and pulled it out, the bloodstain spread on his old shirt to cover the front of it. A crowd grew around the body and looked down at Cecil. "They killed him! They killed poor Cecil!", yelled a man Septim recognised as Antonis Xarxes, his neighbor and co-worker down at the mill. The crowd grew angry, and the guards nervous, they turned to the crowd. "He was holding a treasure that belonged to the Xerillian Empire!", yelled the guard leader. "It belonged to him! He found it!", yelled Xarxes. That made the crowd's anger reach a breaking point, they went forward and the guards drew blades, but that didn't stop the mob, they went forth, two being stabbed, and beat the guards to death. Septim found that he went out and joined them. |

Several days later, many people, angry at the death of Cecil, began to start taking guards hostage, attacking people that have to do with the Xerillian Grand Empire, and causing havoc in the streets. However, a man as cold as ice, so wicked, his heart was rumored to be a lump of coal, came into the city. He only had one thing in mind; kill all the peasents that killed the guards.
Antonis Xarxes walked across a street when he heard a noise over by the statue of Xerillia. He saw a dark man riding a black horse, with his black sword out, ready to fight. "Who the hell are you, and what are you doing here? This is priv-," said Antonis. "You are Antonis?" the man said slowly. "Yes, now wh-" The dark man lunged at Antonis, attempting to kill him. Antomis had no weapon but a large wooden post. The dark man laughed. "This is one of the fighters from the brawl last week? You people have no idea how powerful the Xerillian Empire is, foolish man." The man jabbed the sword right through Antonis's heart, but Antonius threw the wooden post right at someone's house, who woke up and saw he dying moments of Antonis. "They killed Antonis! They killed him!" yelled the man. Then, every peasent came rushing out of thier houses to fight the dark man. But he slashes his sword though every person brave enough to fight him. But soon, the man found that too many came to fight, and killed the peasents blocking his way to the port to Xeris. |

Gorris Septim saw the death of Antonis and grabbed a spear, he threw it and it hit the back of the dark man's horse. Gorris drew a dagger. "Charge men!" Gorris led a charge against the dark man, two peasants died but the rest engulfed him in an ocean of people, he was beaten to a pulp. Gorris turned to the peasants. "I want messages sent out to all of the nearby towns and cities, I want men recruited, this is not a revolt, this is revolution!", yelled Gorris, the peasants cheered and carried the bodies of the peasants into the church where they layed them in the undercroft. The production of spears began and those who had swords gave them to people better skilled in their use. The humans who had so long been repressed were going to be peasants and slaves no longer... |

A soldier from the barracks hears the call, and all of the barracks 10,000 soldier come and begin to attack the peasents. They kill peasent after peasent, not loosing a single man until Septim started to throws spears at the soldiers. The soldiers killed exactly 3,946 peasents before finally being overcome by the spears and numbers. Only the general remained, and no one could stop him. Not even the spears, for the general dodged them. Finally, he rode right on out of own, killing 41 more peasents while getting out of the city to go to the capital. The Xerillian Civil War had began. |

Septim's messengers ride out to every city in the human continent, gathering a total of five hundred thousand farmers, potters, and other peasants, each man brings their own weapon, ranging from pitchforks to longswords. Septim starts an attack on Fort Resdyn, an armory for the Xerillian Empire that held much needed weapons and armor. The massive numbers overcame the hard walls of the fortress with help from a stolen catapult, and the army was now armed and armored, around two thousand Xerillian soldiers even turned sides at seeing the massive army that had been formed. Septim had the Xerillian soldiers train the human army, which he decided to call the Cidellian Army. Within a month the human army was well trained, well armed, and ready for combat, and their leader, Gorris Septim, was ready to lead them to victory. |

During that month, Plato, Commander of All Army Forces, trained the remaining soldiers, which is still a large enough number to wipe out the rebellion scumn, even higher levels of combat. Then, at the end of the month, Plato sent the army to attack the city of Ceron, and murdered every peasent, innocent or not. They burned half the city down, and lost only 291 men, hardly a huge loss. They turned their attention to Valkar, which was half and half of friend and foe. Plato sent his army to attack, to massacre any resistance. |
You (4/10/2008 12:35:58 PM) |
Septim, now called General by the resistance, had read many tactical books by many different Generals in the past month, and was now experienced in both leading armies and fighting. As the army came towards Valkand, two thousand unarmed men stood at the gate in a line, the cavalry of 10,000 charged towards the unarmed men, and when the cavalry got close enough a voice called "NOW!". The unarmed men picked up half-burried pikes from the dirt and held them up, using the floor beneath them for support, the horses could not stop in time and ran into the pikes, impaling all but twenty of them, the pikemen pulled their pikes from the horses and stabbed the horsemen that were once mounted, the twenty remaining horsemen tried to retreat, but were killed by archers who had set up at the sides of the battlefield. The infantry and archers that followed had no idea that the cavalry had failed in breaking the ranks until it was too late, and they were nearly attached to the ground by the amount of arrows that went into them. Gorris walked forward. "A hundred casualties on our side, thirty thousand on theirs...not bad, good work men!", said Gorris smiling, "Now lets get back into the fortified walls of Valkar and plan our next attack...", said Gorris to his second in command, Bartimaeus Hasillius. |

"You are telling me that we lost half of our army?" Plato yelled at the messenger. "Yes, we are winning the war so far, don't you think?" Plato took his sword and plunged it right into the man's head, blood spewing everywhere. "Taol, bring me the rest of the army into the outside." "Yes sir," sadi a frightened Teol. A few minutes later... "MEN!!! TONIGHT, WE FIGHT TO DEATH! TONIGHT, WE WILL KILL, OR BE KILLED! THE XERILLIAN EMPIRE WILL DESTROY THE REBELLION ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!! Head to the city, Seris, and attack the men there. Be warned, for they have many numbers. BUT! We are sending a total of 20,000 catapults to the battle! NOW GO! If we lose the battle, any survivors will be stoned!"
At the gates of Seris, 10,000 archers came looming over ther walls. They fired arrow after arrow, but the iron shields prevented that. Then, the catapults arrived, and fired. The walls tumbled down like dominoes, and the amry ran into the city, and raided every building. They burned down the enemy fortress and left the city in ruins. Only 92 deaths. |

But Septim had planned for this, underneath the city of Seris, a tunnel network filled with barrels of black powder sat, one resistance member ran down into the tunnels and threw a torch onto one of the barrels, this caused a chain reaction that destroyed all of the city of Seris and Plato's army. |

On the way back to Xeris, cavalry ran from the trees and assaulted the catapults and their drivers, the fast horses easily outran the projectiles and slaughtered the drivers. "Take these back to HQ...these should be useful..." *** Meanwhile Septim's second in command assaulted and defeated the defense force at Ceron, which was small due to the massive attack on Seris. *** Upon Septim's return with the catapults, words of victory spread throughout the city, victory was certainly within their grasp. |

Septim sat in his office in Ceron, his second in command walked in. "Hello General", said Bartimaeus. "Hello Colonel", said Septim, "My next move will be to take Xeris while they are unprepared, you have gathered boats?" "Of course we have", said Bartimaeus, "Around five warships and thirty trading ships have been commandeered in the name of the revolution, along with a hundred fishing boats" "Good, outfit the ships with catapults, tomorrow we head out", said Septim. "Yes sir", said Bartimaeus.
***The next day***
Septim, wearing steel platemail, a steel barbute, holding a steel kiteshield, and hanging onto the hilt of a steel longsword stood aboard the largest warship, christened 'Revolution' by Septim before going off. Two large catapults were fixed to the ship. The wind was with them, propelling their ships foreward. The city of Xeris appeared on the horizon, and the ships reached the island, jumped out of trading ships onto the shore and ran up to the walls to be bombarded with projectiles. "I hope our spies did well", said Septim. The catapults ceased firing on the third volley and suddenly caught on fire. "Yes, they did...", said Septim as he jumped down to join his men in the invasion of Xerillia, ship mounted catapults pounded the walls to dust, and the revolutionary soldiers poured into the city. |

The battle continued for 1 and a half weeks, neither side getting the upper hand. Eventually, the two side's diplomats met and discussed the forming of a new nation, and they come to an agreement: They area above Xeris is the Xerillian Empire and the land to the east is the Cidellian Empire. The time period of this peace lasted 2,000 years. Trade prospered, even the less likely friends, Plato and Septim, becmae friends. Slowly the fighting moved more and more towards the rich section of the city, and towards the HQ of General Plato and Emperor Xerin Xerillus. Septim ducked below a slash and parried two more blows, one of which nearly taking off his head. After two hours of fighting, the Revolutionary Forces reached the Xerillian castle, there Emperor Xerin Xerillius stood upon the gate.
"Is this what you seek, Septim, my destruction?", asked Xerillius.
"No! We seek independence!", yelled Septim.
"I would die before giving up the human lands!", yelled Xerillius.
"Then so be it...", said Septim.
A massive projectile from a catapult zooms towards the gate and hits one of the side pillars, the gate goes crashing down, many of the stones fall upon the Emperor, killing him, and Plato runs out.
"ATTACK!", roars Plato.
Plato runs at Septim, and Septim raises his longsword, he parries two blows and the third hits his shield, he ducks under another attack and slashes at Plato's legs, but Plato jumps over his blade. Septim turns and blocks a blow on his shield, he then slashes at Plato's face, leaving a long scar from his forehead down diagonally to under his eye. Septim then bashes him with his shield, Plato falls on the ground, but rolls backwards and gets back up. He then attacks Septim, and Septim blocks with his shield, but the blow was so hard that it split Septim's shield. Septim rolls aside and picks up a shortsword from a fallen soldier. He does a slash from the side, and Plato parries, but Septim's other sword comes from the left, and Plato is forced to jump backwards, Plato then looks around to see that his small force had been defeated by the revolutionary army. Plato dropped his blade, and Septim walked forward.
"General Plato of Xerillia, you are now exiled to the island of Groznok in the Northern Ocean for war crimes", said Septim.
***
Plato was shipped to Groznok and dumped there with only a longsword and a days worth of food. As the ship pulled away, Plato's head was full of escape plans...
***
Xeris became the capital of the Cidellian Empire, being renamed Cidel City. Septim became High Chancellor, with many other Chancellor's below him, and the new peace seemed like it would last forever...
[[OOC: I think my ending is better...it leaves room for a better sequel, where me and Plato being friends against some Northern guys sort of sucks...I mean, we'd never be friends after I slaughtered many of his friends and allies...]] |
