~~~ The History of the Land In the first age, civilization from all over the land and overseas banded together and formed one great kingdom of humans. Their King Targas ruled benevolently, and cared for the people, building cities, castles, great walls, outposts, spots of recreation, and wealth to the land. The people loved him so much that they named their world Targas, after the King. However, the Great King never married, and when he died, much strife occured, and the greedy people of the world did what they had to do to gain their power. Men killed men. But, to a unforseen, but appreciated fate, lighter men with pointed ears and blonde hair arrived, their landing spot where a battle occured, and luckily fought for the forces of good, defeating the evil men. To give thanks to the elves, they gave them a large mass of land to build a kingdom upon, and the land lived in peace. The elves joined in on many merry occasions, but kept their secrets to themselves, such as the land they hailed from. However, a band of large green men on war boats were following the elves, so as to destroy them, and five years later, arrived on the continent. They burned homes, pillaged treasuries, and destroyed most of the land. Soon, they marched upon the gates of Tronshelm, and battered the walls for eight days, attempting to decimate the town. However, a large force of human criminals assailed the Orcish camps for greedy purposes, and killed the Orcish chieftain. The orcs fell back and retreated to the swampy regions South. The humans and elves created a strong alliance so that they might fight together in times of war. In thesecond age, the luxury and peace that existed was torn apart by new invaders. Trolls hiding in the mountains at the North of the continent plundered the Elven lands. The humans quickly sent aid to help their friends, but oversetimated their enemy, and the reinforcements crumbled. The trolls were unstopable, if not for the help of an unforseen ally. Short bearded men in the same mountain range attacked the troll's war camps with heavy metal axes, and halted the invasion. The humans and elves gathered their strength and pushed the trolls back into the mountains farthest away from them. The Human Alliance, Elvern Kingdom, and Dwarvern Clans formed a pact, and peace once again came back to the land. The Orcs of the South had no special events during this time. In the third age, the Elves shared the secret of their success to the humans and dwarves: magic. The greatest Magician of the elves, Elmad, taught the humans and dwarves the technique to draw upon the power and release it. The three races prospered for a time... until the humans began to start new techniques. One of the students of Elmad, Bleo, rised quickly under his master, and soon had no further use of a teacher, and began to think of new ways for magic. He travelled to a cemetary and drawed upon the magic to bring all of them back to life. However, the effort was to much for Bleo, who hoped to bring back loved ones, and only succeeded in not only killing himself, but bringing death to the third age. Skeletal remains of the dead rised, the curse of Bleo compelling them to life. The Undead attacked the city in which they were buried, and killing everyone. Shocked, Elmad travelled quickly to the Undead army and tried to life the mfrom their curse. Unfortuneately, only the one who brought the Undead to life can send them back, and since Bleo was dead, there was only one way to defeat them: battle. The Undead struck swiftly, however, and by the magic hat compelled them to fight, they also brought the dead to life, adding to their forces. Every soldier they killed they brought back to life, even animals for war purposes. In order to halt the attack, the bravest warriors, magicians, and anyone else who wanted to help created on army to battle the undead. It was suicide to beat them, but quite easy to contain them. The Alliance Army pushed the undead back towards a small forest, where magicians were casting wards over to contain any undead that entered. The Undead, one by one, were trapped into the Forest of the Damned, and all men, elves, and dwarves rejoiced. Like the previous age, no Orcish events occured. The fourth age started 100 years after the events of the third. Tensions were rising in each seperate kingdom, eventually leading to the founding of several factions. Half of the population of men rebelled against the Human Alliace, and escaped to the Ulendar Desert, where they formed the Serian Kingdom. The elves were not as bloody, but some elves simply wanted power. The Elven Kingdom split into three factions: the High Elves, a group of elves from the royal line, the Wood Elves, elves who were one with nature and opposed of the High Elves cutting them down, and Sand Elves, elves *beep*treated to the Southern part of the Ulendar desert, and were the greatest archers in the land. The Orcs did nothing again. From and outsiders point, it appears as if they want nothing to do with outsiders. The Dwarven clans were already split into five clans, and no further seperation was needed nor advisable. The Undead are dead and cannot think, only attack. The Mountain Trolls were merely waiting from the perfect time to attack, and simply stayed hidden in caves. In the current age, the fifth age, arguments between other factions tart to escalate to vendettas. All alliances with other races were on the brink of collapse, and war was merely a few steps away. While the nations prepare for war, however, and unforseen menace was rising to power... ~~~~ Chapter One coming soon... And do comment, please. ~~Chapter One - Legacy of a Rebel~~
A man dressed in plate armour walked up to the cell. He snorted and spit in front of the prisoner's cell, which angered him. "You sicken me," the sentry mocked. "I'm almost glad you scum rebelled against us. Otherwise, we would still be stuck with you vermin." The sentry spit on the floor again, and grudgingly gave the man a a slice a bread and a small chunk of cheese. He then poured a small mug of water and gave it to him. "Here you go, Prince Aldec." It was true, the captive was a Prince. He was captured in the middle of the night, while he was travelling home. Ever since then, he had been trapped in his imprisonment for a year. The Human Alliance didn't even bother to tell his homeland that he was alive. His family lost hope of seeing him, which caused an anger which burned harshly in his soul. The sentry then continued his rounds of feeding, in which Aldec noticed he fed the others more than what he received. The sentry began to speak to himself when he was halfway down the hall. "Good thing I've been given leave for tommorow. I'd prefer to be watching the Wedding of the Prince and Princess than stay here and feed these pigs." He slyly turned back to Aldec, glancing at him in a mockingly way. However, Aldec heard the foolish man's words, which caused a spark of hope to burn inside himself. If what the sentry was saying was true, that would mean that security would be at it's minimal, as everyone would be attending it, considering the Princess was a wanting person, and that the King would pander all her whims, one of which was that she wanted all to see her wedding. If he could find a way to break through the bars in his cell, he might be able to escape his cell, leave this nation, and make his way quickly to the Serian Kingdom. This was his closest chance to escaping, and his planned on using the small diversion of a wedding to leave. He immediantly began to plan out the process. Finishing his water, he took the metal can and set it on the cold uncomfortable floor. He then grabbed a small piece of hard rock of the ground and started to crush the can into a shape that would hopefully resemble a knife. After a long two hours of working without bringing himself to the attention of the guards, he managed to make a small knife. However, it was blunt, and would have trouble cutting through butter. Aldec then spent most of the day sharpening the knife. When the sky turned dark and the moon shined bright, Aldec took the knife and stabbed it into wooden board on which he was forced to sleep on. It easily shattered the wood, and Aldec smield at his success. He then started the test that would decide his fate. He sat down and slowly started to hack at the metal bars, which showed no apparent sign of breaking. Aldec didn't give up, however. The bars were covered in rust, and might break if pressure is applied in the correct spot. He started to cut the center of a metal bar, but the sound of an alerted guard walking towards the cells stopped him, and Aldec quickly hide his weapon, and sat down, acting like he was asleep. *** Aldec woke up as an idiotic guard rang the large bell to alarm everyone to get up. Swearing, Aldec stood up, concealing the metal knife in his ragged sleeves. The guard then rolled the feeding cart to everyone, giving the prisoners just half a slice of bread, and no water. The criminals groaned swore at the guard, who merely laughed at their misery and pushed the cart to the wall, it's morning duties finished. He then walked over to Aldec's cell and pulled out his keys. ~~~~~~~~ Chapter Two - Wear and Tear coming soon...
~~Chapter Two - Wear and Tear~~
*** The fugitive awakened, the sunrise greeting him as if an old friend. Aldec stood up, and looked for his steed, who woke up when Aldec stirred. The man grabbed his sword and walked over to the river to catch some fish to eat. He stabbed once, twice, thrice, until he finally caught a small Sedler. Cursing, he continued to fish for a majority of the hour until he caught a fish, the Spearnosed Cisyam. Aldec walked over to a nearby boulder. He took his sword and skinned the fish, and then pulled out the bones, guts, brain, and eyes until the only thing left was meat. He then grabbed a thick but short branch off the ground, and made it into a skewer to hld the fish. He then relit the fire, and slowly roasted the meat until it turned golden brown. He bit into the tender meat, relishing the properly cooked meal. After he finished the fish, he grabbed his equipment, mounted his horse, and galloped on again. *** After the tiring experience, the man finally achieved his goal: he arrived in Serian lands. Laughing in relief, Aldec continued to ride on until he reached the citadel of Palponet. ~~~~~~~~
