The Gracillian Empire |
*Killer raced through the trees, placing not one foot wrong. He
glanced over his shoulder to see if Sylvan was still following, and saw
that he wasn't. Typical. He turned suddenly and came back the way he
came. It was fortunate it was only a small band of soldiers, otherwise
Sylvan would have gotten himself killed by now. But still, the fool was
reckless, and unfortunately held no fear. He cursed himself and called
upon the creatures of the wood to help him reluctantly. Only unicorns
came, but these were not the peaceful loving creatures you heard about
in stories. They were twice the size of any horse, and their solitary
horns were stained with blood from previous battles. Their various
coloured manes were long, and extended down along half the body, which
were also a variety of colours. Their long pointed horns were aimed
menacingly at Killer for disturbing their peace, but yet they charged
through the undergrowth.
Killer ran as rapidly as he could to keep up with them.
The unicorns gathered around the band of ragamuffins, and dipped their
horns menacingly towards them, and charged. They stood not a chance
against the onslaught, and the band quickly fled, the fearsome sight of
the bloodthirsty creatures imprinted on their minds for eternity. The
unicorns vanished, leaving Killer to help Sylvan to his feet and
continue on their journey, the woods silent apart from a few songs of
the birds.*

Ok, there is an empire, controlled by an Emperor(Empress)(One
capital, which is huge), divided into twenty kingdoms, ruled by kings
or queens(One massive city for each of these). These are divided
further into five
provinces each, ruled by dukes or duchesses(One city for each of
these). In these, there are ten lords(ladies). Each of these
lords(ladies) control a town, and five knights(sir/dame...) These
knights each own a village. Your aim is to rise in rank from a peasant
upwards(Well, you don't have to, but you can) You can start as a squire
if you so wish, but it'll take seven years(A year is a week, sorry for
stealing this method of Septim) to become a knight, or else you can
just start off as some peasant and get lots of money(you don't get any
as a squire, but you get taxes when you become a knight).
Emperor/Empress (1)
King/Queen (20)
Duke/Duchess(100)
Lord/Lady(1,000)
Sir/Dame(5,000)
There are classes, the following..

Necromancers)
Passive skills:
Rider, Tracker, Cook, Guard(Cannot be stolen off unless by higher level
thief), Tamer, Smith, Crafter, Carpenter, Climber, Swimmer,

pretty useful, and can also earn a living as a storyteller or such.)
These are the levels of skill in each class...

Platinum coins(Worth 10 gold coins / 100 silver coins / 1,000 copper coins)
You can carry hundred coins on your person, and can store more in your homes(more about that later).
You start off as Beginner in all weapons and Expert in one type, and
two weapons of your choice. Also, you are Master of one active skill
and two passive skills. You have fifty copper coins and fifteen silver
coins.
There are six races...
Human: Average in most things, good recruiters and riders. These are the majority of the population.
Orc: Excellent fighters and necromancers, but poor rangers, terrible healers and cooks. A ferocious and vicious race.
Halfling: Terrible fighters, but not bad at range. They are excellent
cooks, good healers, tamers and lorekeepers. They are as small as human
children. They aren't great at magic either.
Troll: Good fighters, and good with a bow. They are poor at all types
of magic, and cannot swim. They are good crafters and carpenters, but
are slightly less than average in all else.
Elf: Poor fighters, but excellent archers. They are good at all magic,
except necromancy. Excellent healers and good cooks. Bad thieves,
recruiters and tamers.
Dwarf: Good fighters, poor at range. Bad at magic, but good smiths and carpenters. They are also brilliant guards.

Arkius walked into the city of Orina he had been traveling for a fair amount of time. It was disgusting and dirty as far as he could see. But it was safe and for now it was home. He would be safe from the order for now anyways. But now he would need to find a place for his skills to be put to work, a small store after all his work surpassed any of the amatuers here and hopefully work would come quickly.

Ok, for crafter, I'm changing it so you have to buy wood(higher pay, though), but not yet. Carpenter skill is changed to builder, sorry. Jonny, I suggest a different occupation as you don't have cooking skill, and will quickly get fired. (The army mightn't have the most picky eaters, but I reckon they have some degree of pickiness). Ant, pay is variable... Sephiroth, 10 gold at the moment, but when your reputation rises it will fly up. Facepalm, 15 gold only at the moment I'm afraid. Once weapons are needed it will grow. I'll do costs to learn beginner skills tomorrow(It is variable with location and who is near you) Killer Age: 20(2/7) Race: Halfling Titles: Occupation: Cook in the army, pay 10 copper coins Location: The Plurnos Kingdom, forest, travelling. [You're all in the kingdom of Plurnos. I did tell you that earlier...]
*Killer watches as a messenger shuffles into the makeshift camp, almost falling with exhaustion. He bellows to Rubbador "Sir, Lieutenant sir, Russle bringing a message from the king of Plurnos, sir. You are charged with a mission to kill a nest of griffins south of here guarding some treasure, sir. I'm not sure of the exact location or numbers, but it is urgent, and the king needs to find out who set the griffins to guard the place, sir. I am afraid I've no more details on the mission in hand, sir. I've to return immediately, but I recommend you see the loremaster near here, then recruit some more soldiers," he finishes, looking at the small band of twenty. Rubbador issues some orders. "Killer, come with me, this man likes his food, Rylin, Wotner, Dralos you as well. Yolog, I'll need your expertise in gathering some recruits." They hurry off to the nearby loremaster... They arrive before noon, and knock at the door of the magnificent castle, the man had obviously done well for himself. It was answered quickly, by a servant with a sword at his side, sheathed, but not quite fully. He brought them up to the loremaster after a quick conversation with Rubbador. The room was remarkably clean of dust, most loremasters practially clothed themselves in it. The loremaster stood up, and asked what they wanted, and sighed when told about the griffins. "Alright, I shall give you some information about griffins, but first, let me tell you a story, it may help you more." He took out a book, and it's shuffling pages echoed loudly through the massive, almost empty castle. His old wizened face looked at the pages pensively, before clearing his throat and beginning the tale. Killer strained to hear him. "It was a long enough time ago, a fair day, and birds were sweetly singin*beep*oung soldier, filled with dreams of fortune, had sook out the help of friends, and a ragtag band of twenty men were soon on their way. They were going to kill a single griffin who it was rumoured guarded tons of treasure. They quickly arrived at the general area, the cave visible to all. It stood towering about the canopy of trees. However, the archers shot no arrow, no griffin was in sight. They continued into the cave with not a care in the world. The griffin struck. A flash of feathers was all they saw before a man lay on the ground dead, while anoter had vanished. The group panicked, and some went further into the cave, others charged out into the clear daylight. The eight or so men who stayed inside charged through the cave, which had no twists or turns. Not so much as a single stone blocked their path, but they arrived to the end of the tunnel. Not so much as a copper coin was to be seen. They retreated cautiously out of the cave. When they arrived, they were horrified at what they saw. Blood flowed over the grass, its pink blades sticking up menacingly from the otherwise barren ground. They took in the sinister scene which they hadn't noticed before. Weeds strangled others in an attempt to get some light, trees cast eerie shadows on the ground, boulders were casually strewn about the place. Then, the griffin struck. Four fell before any had even begun to draw their bows, blood dripped from the sharp griffin's beak, landing with a plop onto the pools of it below. Three more soldiers were felled, then the last ran faster than wind, leaving the scene beind him, as the griffin flew away, without so much as a second glance." "Now, let me tell you griffins aren't all as bad as they seem, even if carniverous, and their size massive. However, they do not guard treasures, and protect their nests with the utmost of brutality. I know you have your orders however, so I will try and help you. I know you know what they look like, no point in boring you with details. Here is an instrument however, which imitates the call of a griffin, and may distract them for a while. And there is no point trying to sneak up on them, they could spot a fly a mile away."
Rubbador issued a command to recruit as many men as he could after the visit, and asked for a loremaster and tamers specifically, as well as expert archers and magicians.*
[any of you can join this expedition, there'll be lots of coins if you survive...]

* It had only taken one day for the lord to like Romulus so much that he let him reside in his manor. It was this morning when Romulus heard about the absurd quest of the king to kill Griffons. He had learned much of Griffons from the old Lorekeeper who had trained him and it wasnt good if it was plural. One was enough. They were calling for Lorekeepers and he decided he better go so he could keep the fools alive. He told the Lord of his intentions and was given a fine horse to use for the misson. He rode out and met up with the camp leader...
