03:21:35 May 12th 10 - King Ernest Deallus The Wise:

The Altusian Empire has been known in the entire world as being the strongest military power in history.  Their men are the best trained, more disciplined, and they are equipped with the most advance weapons and armor.  Their castles are also legendary as being impenetrable.  Not a single one has had its walls breached.
The most famous of these castles is the Great Altusian Citadel.  It has ten floors above ground and five below.  The top ten levels were the housing for the emperor, guests, soldiers, and also the location of the kitchens, dining halls, and other necessities.  The lower five levels were the cellars, storerooms, and dungeons.  Its gates are made of reinforced dwarven steel and its walls of heavily reinforced blocks of grey stone.  Easily it is the most heavily defended castle in the world.

Emperor Alexios IV Vuranas lived upon the 10th floor of the castle.  He was a very wise, intelligent, and generous man in his rule, but he knew very little of the ways of war.  His advisors did most of the planning and waging of warfare.  Emperor Vuranas slept well at night knowing that the empire was in good hands and that ten thousand soldiers surrounded him for protection.
Unfortunately, he did not know that while he was safe from attacks from the outside of his castle, that it was the inside of the castle that he was in danger from.  What the emperor did not know is that before the citadel had been built, there had been a great battle fought upon the hill where it now stood.  A great battle had been fought between the lord of demons and a large elven army.  The elves, after having successfully defeated the army, buried the body of the lord of demons deep beneath the earth.
A rock in the wall of the deepest dungeon of the castle fell from the wall.  Then another stone fell.  A small hole formed in the wall of the dungeon and a small hand reached through and began forcing the hole to grow.  An hour of struggling passed until a small creature that was only about five feet tall forced itself out of the hole and landed on the ground.  It reached back into the hole and was handed a chisel of some kind that it began using to make the hole larger.  Then more small imp-like creatures pulled themselves from the hole.  Several kept working at the hole while several dozen began crawling out with short blades and knives.  When around fifty had gathered, they then began moving through the dungeon.  There were only a few prisoners unlucky enough to be on the lowest level.  They only saw the small demons for a few seconds before they were set upon by the short stabbing blades and butchered.  The iron cells only slowed down the creatures for a minute before they forced their way in.  The two guards who were stationed down there were too late to react and escape.  Their cries for help were unheard through the long and dank halls of the citadel as they were slaughtered.

Within two hours, the lowest three levels had fallen without warning.  However, when the demons reached the fourth floor, the alarm got out.  Demons had appeared within the castle itself.  All soldiers were put on alert and began trying to stop the advance of the creatures, but there were many paths and stairways throughout the castle.  Before the emperor knew it, there were demons in all of the hallways on most of the floors.  Bodies of both demons and Altusian soldiers filled the hallways, but the demons were gaining momentum.  More and more of their numbers began pushing upwards from the cellars and dungeons.  While they were not well armed or armored, they made up for it with numbers.  The emperor, fearing the demons would escape into the city and begin slaughtering the people, ordered the gates to be locked and sealed until the situation was brought under control.

Before the gates were closed completely, one group of mercenaries entered the castle to help.  They were knights, mages, rogues, and other warriors who were there to help out of duty, curiosity, or possible profit.  However, they were only sparsely armed and armored as they had very little time to get into the castle before the gates were to be sealed.

You are one of these mercenary warriors.

05:33:11 May 12th 10 - King Ernest Deallus The Wise:

Name: Sir Dominic Baldane
Class: Knight
Weapon: None
Armor: None
Description: Dominic had once been a knight in the service of the Altusian Empire before his service ended and he was given two options: Become a farmer and struggle to make a living or continue to use his fighting abilities and be a mercenary.  Seeing really only one option, Dominic became a mercenary.  Being in the capital, he always heard about important jobs quickly and always had a wide variety of weapons and armor at his disposal.  While he was about to leave for a simple mission, Dominic heard of an unknown attack on the citadel and decided that it was more important.  Surprised that the fight was inside, he did not even have time to put on his armor or grab a weapon because the gates were said to be closing within moments.  Dominic raced to the gates and gained entrance to the citadel and immediately saw the desperate situation that he was in.

08:15:28 May 12th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

Name: Andronicus Cydelos
Class: Improviser
Weapon: None (will use whatever is available...)
Armor: None
Description: Andronicus Cydelos is a jack-of-all-trades, and will use anything available to him to fight off his opponent. He doesn't mind resorting to low-blows and sucker-punches, not that it'll help him much in his current situation. He doesn't exactly have a preferred weapon.

His father left his mother when he was still in the womb, and his mother died in childbirth. Growing up as a street urchin, he made a name for himself as "that one crazy kid who would stab your eyes out with a quill-pen if you messed with him". He was, however, a nice kid if you didn't anger him. Upon reaching adulthood, he became a pugilist, but was disqualified in nearly every competition.

Eventually, he ended up in the capital. It was there that he heard the call to arms, and it was in the Citadel that he would gain his fame. He had no idea what the problem was, but it couldn't have been anything serious! Nothing seriously dangerous ever happens in the Citadel!

08:54:30 May 12th 10 - Lord Wraith Hearts Wwr:

Name: Ranraac Wraith
Class: Elven Rogue
Weapon: None
Armor: None
Description: A tall, fit Elf Ranraac was a very quiet one. He liked to keep to himself and generally travelled alone.

Ranraac was an Elf from the Forest. He had grown tired of not being able to see the outside world and his annoyance at the close-mindedness of his Tribal Elders had grown to the point were he had run away. From that day, he had travelled much of the world, never stopping at any one place for more than a day or two.

The Elf also had a knack for stealing things. He made use of his Elven dexterity to get by, never stealing more than he needed to. Skilled at wielding most types of blades, he had heard the call for help at the Citadel now found himself unarmed inside its gates.

18:24:27 May 12th 10 - Sir Karzun Demonsul:

Name: Marcel Charles
Class: Thief
Weapon: None (I'm wondering why they walked into a castle fulla demons with nothing, but hey, there's probably a good reason knowing Charley)
Armor: None
Description: A short human robber. He has lank brown hair and a pointed nose, as well as a stalking walk and shadows under his eyes. He has the beginnings of a beard from not shaving recently. Known for committing various crimes throughout town, he plans to make it big on the wanted list someday. His only combat experience is mugging, but he has trained hard in stealth. He only entered the Citadel grounds to steal whatever he could from the rich keep and escape, but now finds himself in a terrible situation...

19:24:28 May 12th 10 - Sir Mirror:

Name: Jarnas Arien
Class: Martial Arts Instructor
Weapon: A short training stick, grabbed hastily on his way out.
Armor: None
Description: Jarnas teaches people how to fight. It's what he does, and has done for the past fifteen years since he came of age. He is known throughout the city as the man to come to if you want to know how to fight, and how to defend yourself. Two weeks earlier, he had been hired by the garrison's general to teach that general's children how to defend himself. Jarnas started his work and found that his students were learning splendidly. When the alarm was sounded, Jarnas had been teaching his students (now eleven of them, as other council members sent their children to learn) the basics of kicking. Thinking fast, he rushed the children out of the castle gates, mere minutes before his studio was overrun. With his students safe, Jarnas rushed back into the castle to help...
Jarnas is very skilled in all forms of combat, whether armed or unarmed. His favourite weapons are staves and single-edged two-handed swords.

21:26:34 May 12th 10 - King Ernest Deallus The Wise:

Alright, I guess this is enough.

*****CLOSED*****

You may be wondering why you are given no real weapons or armor...That is because if I gave you all the option of having weapons and armor, I would be expecting badass swords and super impenetrable armor.  That would ruin the fun of this RP because everyone would be slaughtering 10 enemies at a time without any real harm to themselves.  We will see where this takes us.

22:17:45 May 12th 10 - Sir Karzun Demonsul:

Agh, you could've let us have cheap ass starter weapons...my guy's pretty useless without at least a breadknife.

22:35:27 May 12th 10 - Sir Mirror:

Thanks Charley!
Given the chance, I would have been Erunion Telcontar, super-powered Elven warrior with 1337 weapons and armour. The limitations you imposed forced me to create a new character.
If we'd all been "1337", then the story would have died out rapidly as we massacred everything in front of us and got bored.

Actually, I probably still would've been a pugilist improviser! It sounds fun and new! XD
